A final smash which...kinda sucked.

Don't be so quick to judge, we weren't really given that much information about it. For example:

-do the Centurions move in a predefined way, or do they home in on the other fighters?
-is Pitt invincible during the charge?
-how much damage do they inflict?
-how fast are they?
-how many are there in the attack or how long does the attack last?

Hell, his Final Smash might be like the Unown from Melee, which is a pretty nasty attack if you ask me.

Pokemon trainer...

Are you kidding me? I'm pretty.... baffled.

It's a mix of "cool" and "surprised".

Baffled? I'm astounded...but in a good way. Sakurai must've been listening to you Sketch; after a ho-hum characterless week, he decided to use Monday to drop a big surprise for us. Laughing

So, Pokemon Trainer, who is technically the trainer from FR/LG. Who doesn't even fight directly, but rather through his three pokemon, Squirtle, Ivysaur and Charizard (YES!!!). Much like Zelda's Sheik transformation, the Down+B move cycles through the three pokemon, essentially allowing you to use three characters at once. The tradeoff, however, is that each pokemon will have its own stamina meter (separate from damage) that apparently causes it to tire out if its fighting too long, requiring you to play well with all three pokemon and not just one.

And I say to you...this is awesome. First, we get three new characters in one. Second, the Pokemon Trainer himself is unique because he doesn't do any actual fighting. Finally...we get to play as freakin Charizard! How can you not appreciate the awesomeness of that fact?

Also, this probably means Charizard, Blastoise and Venusaur are removed from the Pokeball item, which means there will likely be new pokemon replacing them in addition to whatever else is going to be added.

This is so much cooler than Ike. \o\

I think Squritle, Ivysaur, and Charizard represent different types of characters. With Squritle being a lightweight, Ivysaur a middleweight, and Charizard a heavyweight. It makes sense when you think about it.

Reminds me of Kankuro and his puppet whateverness.

Are you sure it's the trainer from FR/LG? When I saw it, I immediately thought it was Red. From R/B. But, whatever.

He's the Gen III male trainer from Fire Red and Leaf Green. So in a way, he is Red.

His final smash should be all of the pokemon fighting everything at once.

It possibly could be. But this is a bigger surprise then Ike. It will also be a challenge to use and the first thing I do with kirby when training is to suck up them all. Just to see what it does.

A pokemon trainer, as a character in SSBB... I'm almost speechless. This has got to be interesting.

Hmm, I kind of have mixed emotions about this character. I think it could go two ways; he could work out as an innovative/fun character to play as, or just a complicated/annoying one to play as. (Not like this statement is broad or anything :P) I'm leaning more towards the innovative/fun part.

This just seems like a lot to keep track of, I hope that Brawl doesn't lose the simplicity of the other games that I loved so much.

Pokemon trainer as a character? That's a total shocker to me.Hmm...he's a hidden character(Noticed the 'Challenger Approaching' banner)...and summons Pokemon to attack for him...

This is not someone I thought of seeing. What as Sakurai thinking....?

He doesn't summon Pokemon. You control the Pokemon. He's three characters in one.

I'm pretty sure Pokemon Trainer and Ike don't need to be unlocked. I'm sure Sakurai will tell us the secret characters AFTER the game is released, just like Melee.

Secret characters need unlocked...so Ike and Pokemon Trainer will need unlocked. He said he might as well reveal them himself.

Sakurai said somewhere that secret characters are going to have to be unlocked. I can't recall where...but come on, think about it. They have "WARNING: CHALLENGER APPROACHING" above them. Who else had that? Secret Characters.

So...stickers...yeah...boring.

A Devil assist trophy? I never saw him in America, but his assist is even more weird. He throws the entire stage to the side, no pun intended, and the players either fall or get thrown to the side as well. Plus, stickers... yes really, stickers. They look fun to collect, and they are more compact than trophies.

I think the stickers could be real fun. Think about it, you might could make little comic about things. Like the photos from last game.
