Foreword: Sorry this took so long but this is the longest story I’ve eve done. In future I’ll be looking at ways to break these behemoths up into multiple stories so they’ll be more manageable.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Adrian grumbled to himself on his way home. Each day has been more infuriating than the last. <Me, accused of being a Warzoner’s friend! I made the mistake of trusting that traitor, but that doesn’t mean I’ve forgiven him for allowing himself to join the rest of the scum!>
How he hated TK. He tried to be the best friend he could when they were little and he repaid him by allowing himself to become a Warzoner! The traitor! And if that wasn’t bad enough, he had to come back! Everything was going great until he did.
Adrian was popular. Everyone wanted to be like him or with him. Everyone except for Kari, but he always heard others talking about how great he and Kari would be together, but no. Instead, she picked the Warzoner over him. A Warzoner! And if that wasn’t bad enough, she reminded everyone what he was once friends with the Warzoner! <Now I’m being treated like one! I don’t deserve this!>
<If only TK was here now! I’d take him and-> Wait a minute. That boy up ahead. He looked just like TK. Adrian grinned. Time for some payback.
Adrian rushed with his fist pulled back, but “TK” looked at him and he stopped cold. <Those eyes. They aren’t TK’s!> No, this “TK’s” eyes were that of a predator watching its next meal. <If I make a wrong move, I’m dead.>
“Adrian, I presume,” “TK” said, “I believe you though I was TK. Many make that mistake.” Not TK’s voice either. Far too arrogant.
<This guy talks like he’s better than me.>
“My name is Tyris,” the phoney TK introduced himself, “My creators had to make me resemble humans but they weren‘t human, so they likely couldn’t one from another and just chose one to base my appearance off of.” Creators? What was he talking about? “I have an offer for you,” Tyris continued, “You and your two friends will be remade into beings superior to even TK’s and Kari’s powers in the Digital World.” That sounded great, but why?
“What’s the catch?” Adrian asked. This was just too good to be true.
“In your case there isn’t one,” Tyris answered, “I’m ambitious. Very ambitious. But TK doesn’t agree with my goals, so I want you and friends to use your powers get him out of my way. I don‘t really care how.
So you‘ll get revenge and power. And to make it even better, you can show just how much stronger you are.” That did it. A chance to show up TK in front of Kari? Beautiful!
“I’ll do it,” Adrian said.
***
Tyris did his best not to laugh as Adrian ran off to get his friends. This was so perfect. <Humans make such great tools. Work their emotions you can make do whatever you want.>
Just like how manipulated Max and Jane into caring about him, he now was creating the perfect team to kill TK. What he didn’t tell the stupid boy that his brain would be modified to make him not only hate TK enough to kill him, but also support all of Destral’s decisions. <Unless I contradict them. After all, I can’t be working for Destral forever, but he doesn’t need to know that.>
But he shouldn’t get ahead of himself. Destral was unbeatable in combat, so getting into a position where Tyris get overthrow him would require time, patience, and a great deal of trust from Destral. That meant dealing with TK and Kari before Trev did. That was step one. No, wait, step one is assassinating the families of his new soldiers and eliminating their feelings for them to insure they stayed focused. Trev loved to brag about his machines, but Tyris new that people were far more useful when properly manipulated.
And who knows, maybe Adrian would succeed in winning Kari over. That would for sure put Tyris in Destral’s good graces. _________________ Red Green's words of wisdom:

"a new digimon story plus it looks like a sequal from the last one I read(which has been how much time already?)"
It is the sequel. The final part of the trilogy and I prefer not think about how long it's been since I finished Rise of the Viralmon.
"Do you have the previous part of the story as I don't know but this may be confusing for some who starts reading now"
Good point. The first two parts can be found at http://www.fanfiction.net/~ridley. It's my ff.net account but disregard the Digimon Z stories. They're old and filled with ameturish mistakes do to a lack of decent planning. I'm going to be redoing them after I finish Hexa.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
<Things were supposed to have gotten better by now,> TK thought to himself as he stared at the ruins of what was once a large city. There were no bodies but that was only because digimon disintegrated upon death. It wasn’t hard to imagine that there were at one point hundreds of digimon living here. <They didn’t even get a chance to call for help.>
It was supposed to be this bad. Sure there were bound to be trouble makers popping up here and there, but none who could cause such devastation so efficiently that no even had a chance to call for help. No, this was the third city like this and only the first had a single surviving Etemon who went on about an attack without warning before succumbing to his injuries.
But how could this be happening? Only the crime lord Mikain was smart enough to pull this stunt off, but, unless his scientists had developed a cure for decapitation, he was dead. His right-hand Lector was just a follower, not a leader, and the top scientist Trev couldn’t possibly command enough respect for anyone to do this for him.
It was believed that some Mega-level digimon had gone mad and were causing this destruction. It sounded like a virus Trev had once tricked innocent digimon into taking. It would digivolve them but them make them attack everything, but this wasn’t case. Only the populated areas were attacked while the areas in between were untouched. It was too precise to be that virus and Trev wouldn’t have access to his lab to prepare something different.
Maybe it was some sort vengeance plan on Mikain’s part in case of his death. That seemed plausible. Mikain had originally created a virus army and used it to draw out a digimon that was transformed into a maniacal destructive being of virtually limitless power by virus developed an old cyber-terrorist group called Hexa. Even though the army was since crushed, Mikain still got what he wanted and almost succeeded in using virus to create an army of nearly indestructible Viralmon. To unleash another virus to take everyone with him upon his death was not far-fetched.
“I can’t take this anymore,” Kari moaned next to him. She was his girlfriend and partner. There was no one he trusted more, but it wasn’t surprising that all this carnage was too much for her to take. She didn’t live in the Warzone, a city that was transformed into anarchy by Mikain.
TK was forced to live there after he and his mother were fooled into thinking Trev was good for them and after he brought them there, he began beating her mercilessly. TK tried to stop it, but despite the fact that that he and Kari were trained by Pixiemon, the greatest martial arts teacher in the Digital World, he was still no match for Trev and his mother got killed trying to help him. And to make it worse, Trev could transform into a digimon, something that only Digidestined should be capable of.
With his mother gone, TK was now living with the Kamiyas, his father agreeing that TK had to be near Kari since she was the only one who really understood him. Pixiemon’s training insured they’d know everything about each other.
“There were terminals in the other two cities that still worked so it should be like that here too,” TK told her. It seemed that the assailants had focused strictly on the digimon themselves without worrying about collateral damage as opposed to wiping out everything. “I’ll call you if I find anything, but if it is just digimon, dealing with them won’t be a problem.”
Digidestined were granted power from the Digital World and he and Kari were given enough to by far outclass any digimon.
“I’m sorry,” Kari apologized, “I should be able to keep up with you.” TK shook his head.
“Trust me, being able to stomach this as easily as I am isn’t a good thing. All it shows is how much the Warzone desensitized me.” He gave her a hug. “Don’t worry about me. Mikain is gone and this isn’t Lector’s style.”
“What if it’s Takeru?”
Good question. Takeru was sort of an alter ego developed when TK and Kari had been tricked into taking one of Trev’s lovely viruses. He knew TK’s mental weaknesses and had taken control of TK’s body for a while. After he was beaten, he remained in TK’s body and almost gained control, but he was forced out, though still alive. Out of Kari came Hikari, but Kari didn’t have the fears TK did about herself and as far he knew, Hikari was dead.
Come to think of it, this massacre was exactly Takeru’s style. “I’m going to have to kill Takeru sooner or later.” TK looked Kari in the eyes. “But if you’re with me, he won’t have any hold.”
“That’s why I-” Kari started, but TK cut her off.
“But if your feeling the way you are now, Takeru will use it against you. Take a rest.”
Kari sighed. “Fine,” she gave him a hard look, “but call the instant something happens! Don’t wait like you did with Takeru!”
<Like I’ll make that mistake again.> When Takeru attacked the second time, TK tried to fight him alone and would’ve lost if Kari hadn’t clued in. “Don’t worry,” he assured, “I’m not making that mistake again. If I even think it’s going to be bad, I’ll pull out and get you to help.”
***
Kari sighed as she stood in front of the terminal. She hated to leave, but TK was right. When TK had fought off Takeru, they were attacked by Mikain’s men. Despite being badly outnumbered, Kari had refused to allow TK to fight because he was mentally exhausted and would only make mistakes. Now she was like that. If it was Takeru, she’d have to be at her best to handle his swordsmanship with even the slightest cut being fatal, not to mention his mind games.
And even if it wasn’t Takeru, it could be digimon working against their will. In that case, she had to be at her best to defeat them without really hurting them. TK’s Form wasn’t good at that. <TK will keep his promise,> she reminded herself, <He won’t forget what going alone caused last time.>
The terminal sent her straight to her room and she flopped onto her bed. She’d just rest her eyes a moment and calm down. Shouldn’t take more than a few minutes to be ready again.
***
No sooner had TK left the ruined city did he find five rocks. That was normal, except they all looked identical and very clean. What was going on here?
The rocks suddenly opened up revealing machinery on the inside that began taking. <Robots! Did they do this?!> Each robot had a black skeletal body with red glowing eyes and the “rocks” covered their backs, the back of their arms, and the top of their heads. The only difference was their weapons. One held a katana. Another had two large fists. Third held a chain with a small metal ball on the end. The fourth held a battle axe and final had a spear.
This was looking bad. <But even Mega levels can’t beat me. I’d better try an learn a little more about them.> “Did you destroy the city?”
“Yes!” Sword answered in a harsh voice.
“Why?”
“To draw you out! And to drive away the girl since you are much weaker without her!” TK reached for his communicator which was hooked on his left side of his belt, but Chain’s weapon lashed out and struck it, shattering it. Okay, time to go. These things were clearly ready for him and Chain was likely to go for the digivice next which was on his right.
TK transformed into Shadowmon and started to run, but Sword, Fist, and Chain leap in front of him. He looked back and confirmed that he was now surrounded. “I’m warning you,” he said, “I was trained by the best.”
With surprising speed, Sword charged with a swing. TK drew his sword and blocked the blow, but felt Axe come from behind. TK pushed Sword back as he whirled around and blocked Axe’s blow, but his legs almost gave under the impact. Fist appeared at his left flank and TK flung himself right with some help from the force of Axe’s blow. As soon as he landed, he saw Chain’s chain coming right for his left leg. TK spun to the left, narrowly evading the attack. <That probably would’ve taken my leg right off!>
He felt something come behind. He whipped around and saw Spear taking a stab and raised his sword vertically, allowing the flat end to take the blow. Sword and Axe came in from the right and left. These guys sure knew how to work together! TK spun around with his hardest swing and repelled both attacks, but Chain’s chain wrapped around the sword and as TK realized what had just happened, it was yanked from his hands.
This was getting worse by the second. TK leapt up. “Star Toss!” He threw five shurikens at Fist since it looked like it would have the hardest time defending against blades. Fist didn’t move and the stars hit, but bounced off. <I’m really getting sick of how weak that attack is!>
Fist suddenly launched at TK with an overhead left punch. TK moved his arms and blocked it, but was forced into the ground on his back. He leapt back up and Axe’s axe crashed down right where he landed. Sword appeared in front and swung. TK leaned to the left and saw Spear coming for his head from the right. TK sprung to the left with a sideways hop and Axe narrowly missed its surprise attack. Axe rolled to the right revealing a jumping slash from Sword. TK jumped back and the blade passed right in front of his face but then Spear appeared above and descended with its spear pointing down. TK leapt between Spear and Sword and he heard two thumps from behind. He looked back as he landed and saw that Chain had joined Spear’s surprise attack.
TK heard something land behind him. He whipped around and saw Fist, but behind was Fist was his sword! Perfect! If he could just get to it, he’d finally have a shot at beating these things!
TK dove between Fist’s legs at it rushed in with another punch and somersaulted to his feet and then sprung for the sword, hearing Chain’s weapon hit behind him. Relief flooded him as his hands wrapped around the hilt. As he picked it back up, Axe rushed up to him and swung but this time, TK met the swing and leveraged the sword to fling himself over the axe. Spear followed up with another surprise attack, except that TK wasn’t surprised and managed to bat it aside and they landed.
TK jumped straight up, evading a pincer attack from Chain and Fist, but Sword followed him. Their blades clashed, but TK rolled his under and shoved Sword’s aside. Sword started to bring its weapon back in, but TK wasn’t about to wait for that. Instead, he raised his sword, thankful for his Form’s speed, and swung at Sword’s neck. The two landed immediately after TK hit, but then Sword’s sword slashed by, cleaving his Form in two!
<What happened?!> TK wondered. Didn’t he just decapitate Sword? He looked but Sword wasn’t even scratched! What were these machines made of?! <But at least I have time to pull my trump card now!>
He transformed into Angemon and flew up. Fist followed aiming another punch, but TK readied his own attack. “Hand of Fate!” The yellowy orange beam hit Fist dead on and slammed it into the ground, but then it leapt right back to its feet with no visible damage! <That’s it. I can’t win alone. I have to get out of here!>
TK began flying back to the terminal Kari used but Axe appeared right in front and swung down. TK raised his staff and blocked, but the impact sent him back to the ground. Sword, Spear, and Fist rush in to join Axe, but TK spun and shoved them all back with his staff, but then Chain’s weapon wrapped around it and yanked it out of his hands. The fear of fighting these things unarmed again took over. “No! Hand of Fate!” The beam hit Chain causing it to release the staff, but horror dawned on TK as he realized how open he left himself.
The next thing he knew, Sword was next to him with its sword out and his Form disintegrated. Not knowing what else to do, TK started running but then Chain lashed its chain at TK’s back. TK dove to the side, but to his horror, the chain went right beside him and struck his digivice, shattering it. The sword he got the spirit the Shadowmon leader flew out of the pieces and reached its original size.
<My Forms! Gone!> TK realized as he retrieved the weapon. He and Kari were trained for years to acquire those Forms and now just like that, they were gone!
Sword caught up behind him and swung down. TK turned blocked the swing and Sword swung again. Why was it just hammering away that? And why weren’t the others joining in? <I should be dead by now.> Then TK noticed that the blade was vibrating with each hit. <It’s attacking the sword! But Shadowmon swords are indestructible!>
That meant there was time to escape. Axe suddenly appeared above. Maybe there wasn’t time after all. TK leapt back and his hand automatically moved to point the sword upward. Axe’s swing clashed right on the tip of the blade and TK hit the ground. Then the impossible happened; his indestructible sword shattered. _________________ Red Green's words of wisdom:

"Don't say that, your stories are great.Ieven might reread them when I'll have free time"
It's your time, but almost all the mistakes I've done writing fanfics are in that series. It's not even finished; it was supposed to be a five parter, but I made so much of a mess that the final two would simply be a cleanup job.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
<Made it at last,> TK thought as he stumbled into the town, exhausted. The terminal Kari used to leave was here. He just had to find it and get out before the robots caught up. For some reason they gave him a head start, but considering how they went out of their way to destroy all his means of defending himself, they must have been toying with him.
Now, where was it? Great, on the other side of town. He looked around and saw only a couple buildings were still intact. Too obvious. On the left, he saw one that was reduced to rubble and few walls that were still tall enough to conceal him. Perfect.
Sitting down, he positioned himself to face straight out. That would lead him directly to the terminal, but he had to get there before robots found it or they’d destroy it. Best to move now- Wait! Footsteps. Metallic footsteps. <I wasted too much time. And why do I feel like I forgot something important?>
Never mind. The robots would likely go for the intact buildings first since they would be the easiest to avoid detection in, but TK knew that choosing one of them was like going into a room with nothing but a chair and then hiding behind it. Sure it seemed like the right idea since the chair was the only thing would hide his body, but it was also the first thing the pursuer would check.
But wait, the footsteps were getting closer. Why? They couldn’t have known TK would hide here. The answer slapped him in the face. <These things could handle everything I threw and were smart enough to get me when Kari wasn’t around. Of course they’d have heat sensors and with the town slaughtered, there’s nothing to hide me from them.> The race was back on.
TK leapt back up and started running. The instant he did, he hear the wall shatter. Probably Fist’s doing. The building up ahead had the doors broken down. Hopefully inside, he’d find some way to at least slow them down.
Inside he looked around and saw stairway among the pieces of wood and cloth that likely furniture at one point that lead down. That would have to do.
He ran down the stairs and jumped off the side about halfway down. He turned and saw it was possible to go underneath the stairs and the beams holding them up looked stable. This could work.
He listened as the robots came down and counted the number that touch the first step. Five. Time to go. TK gripped the beams and yanked himself up as the robots passed overhead. He landed silently, hoping it would buy a couple extra seconds ran back out the door.
He quickly the buildings outside and saw one near his first hiding spot with stairs going up the side. Some holes in the walls revealed the roof was still intact. TK dashed forward and up the stairs, thankful that the stairs didn’t collapse once he reached the top.
He looked around to plan his next move and saw that the building with the terminal was the next to the building next to this one and its roof also seemed to be holding. His hopes soared. He had a direct way out!
The building began vibrating. TK looked down and saw Fist tearing through the walls. Hopefully that’ll keep the robots from noticing TK’s escape. Despite the difficulty in keeping balance, TK managed to make a running start and jump over the gap and land on the next roof, but then he heard a crack. <Guess this roof isn’t as stable as it looked.>
TK heard the building he was on earlier collapse and started to run, but the roof gave and he found himself inside with the robots rushing in. Still, the walls were really torn up. Any direction would lead out. The robots surrounded him and he moved towards Sword. As expected, Sword had already began its attack; it seemed to be aiming to finish him personally, and TK leapt up and grabbed its head as it swung, passing less than a millimetre from his leg and catapulted himself over and through a hole in the wall.
The terminal was up ahead! The building containing it was torn open, so he had to work fast so the robots wouldn’t get to it first. TK bolted for it as fast as he could hearing the robots chasing after him. Still, he would get there first. He did it!
TK reached the terminal. Success! He reached to his side and, nothing. The blood drained from his face as he realized what it was he was forgetting. <The terminal won’t work without a digivice. I’m stranded.>
He fell to his knees. It wasn’t right! After all he went through to get here, he couldn’t get out?! That just wasn’t fair!
<Might as well face death head on,> he decided. There was no way out. He no longer had the strength to outrun the robots and even if he did, it wouldn’t make a difference. They’ve won.
The robots surrounded him but this time Fist moved in. No wonder they were so willing to toy with him. They knew there was no way out.
***
Kari’s eye’s snapped open. <I fell asleep! I was only supposed to rest for a few minutes! Stupid!>
She suddenly felt a deep fear for TK’s safety and bolted over to her computer. <Please be paranoia! Please be paranoia! Please be paranoia!>
She opened the gateway and something flew out, slamming her back into her bed. She pushed it off and saw a black metal fist sticking out. She immediately closed the gate and the fist withdrew. She looked at what hit her. <TK!!>
***
“Stupid!” Kari shouted, practically crying while pacing around the living room, “I’m so stupid! What did TK do to deserve such stupid partner!”
“Calm down,” Tai said, but couldn’t put any real strength behind it. The shock of seeing TK so beaten into unconsciousness was too much. He was left on Kari’s bed out of fear that moving him could make it worse. He wished his parents were here to help, but they had gone shopping a few hours earlier. Come to think of it, where the heck were they?!
“I should never have left him! I’m worthless!” Kari continued, “He’s supposed to be able to depend on me!”
“You don’t know what happened!” Tai told her. Kari looked at him and he felt like he said something he shouldn’t have.
“That’s right,” she said, sounding dangerously calm, “I should find out. I’ll find who did this and get them back!” Uh oh. Kari never spoke of revenge unless it was truly serious. Then again, she considered anything involving TK serious.
“Wait until he wakes up,” Tai pleaded, “Whoever did this to him would be ready for you. And we still have to tell Yamaki about this!”
“I failed TK completely. He can’t help me anymore.” Kari ran to her room before Tai could ask her what she meant and warped herself into the Digital World. Tai got to the computer and was about to warp himself in, but he heard TK stir. Tai looked at him.
“What happened to you?” he asked.
“Ambush,” TK choked out, “Where’s Kari?”
“She went in to avenge you,” Tai said, not believing that he said that. He never dreamed Kari would be pushed that far. Did she know something he didn’t?
TK widened and started to get up but Tai forced him back down. “Get her back now! She can’t win!”
“What are you talking about? I’m sure she’ll be watching for whatever trick they used on you.” TK shook his head furiously.
“No trick! They’re just too strong!”
“What do you mean?!”
“The attacks were done by robots! Robots that even my Angemon Form couldn’t scratch! They destroyed my digivice! They’ll do it her and she’ll be at their mercy like I was!” Robots? Too strong? The digivice?!
<That’s what she meant by failing him completely! He can’t use his Forms anymore!> “I’ll call the others,” Tai said, “Jane’s better for rescues.” TK nodded.
“Make it fast. Kari’s Forms won’t last against them.”
***
<Are we really accomplishing anything?> Jane wondered. She and Max had been using their Forms to bust up the different gangs. At first they were trying to find evidence of Mikain’s involvement the creation of the Warzone. But Mikain was dead now and these gangs were in a never ending supply it seemed. If she didn’t know better, she’d swear there was a factory producing them. And since it had gotten out that they never killed anyone, intimidation no longer worked, which meant they kept coming back. <Change around here is going to take something big.>
Her communicator beeped. She picked up the rectangular device and pressed the button to answer it. “Jane!” Tai’s voice sounded panicky, “Kari’s in the Digital World about to take on some robots that according to TK are unstoppable! Get her out of there!”
“Uh, right,” she answered, wondering what it was she just missed.
“What is it?” Max asked.
“Get over to Tai’s,” she answered, “I’ll join after I do this rescue. Sounds like we have a new crisis on our hands.”
***
Kari ran along the path she and TK were following earlier. Whoever attacked him should still be around. Rushing in alone didn’t seem even remotely wise, but she had to get used to it. Now that TK’s digivice was gone, he could no longer fight. <Great partnership I blew.>
She quickly saw five identical-looking rocks up ahead. That was odd. The rocks moved and transformed into black robots. She immediately recognized the large fists on one as the fist that she saw send TK through the gate. The others had a sword, chain, axe, and spear.
“You attacked TK?!” she shouted, knowing the answer.
“We did,” Sword confirmed, “Now we shall do the same to you!”
Kari braced herself. She’d have to be ready for whatever trick they had used on TK. Maybe she should’ve waited for him to wake up.
She transformed into Darkmon. “Ice Dagger!” Her ice spikes were aimed at Sword since its weapon looked like the hardest to deal with barehanded. Sword’s blade slashed the icicles into pieces while Spear and Axe dash behind her. Spear took a stab, but she twisted left, and then realized that she had set herself up for Axe who was already taking a horizontal swing at her neck. Kari ducked but saw Spear stab at her head. These guys knew how work together.
Kari back flipped away and turned around to see Chain whipping at her. “Fire Whip!” Her blazing whip batted away the chain but then Fist appeared in front of Chain and grabbed the whip, yanking forward before Kari could dissipate it. Still, this worked in her favour. She let go of the whip while still being carried forward and turned yellow. “Thunder Burst!” The electric burst pushed her back, but it also shoved Fist away. But as Fist straightened back out, she saw no visible damage. <You’ve gotta be kidding! That was my Form’s best attack!>
Sword appeared in front of her. “Thunder Burst!” Maybe if caught off guard, the attack would work. Sword, however, simply slashed through the attack and spewed back into her, sending her flying back with a strong burning pain.
She forced herself back up in disbelief at what just happened. That was one of her’s and TK’s best combination attacks! How did Sword even know it wouldn’t get electrocuted from attempting it?
Kari suddenly had a strong desire to roll right and did so as Axe crashed down where she was moments ago with a heavy swing. She spun back to her feet and saw Spear charging. She leapt over it, but as she landed, she saw Chain’s chain coming right for her. She twisted right and the chain missed, only grazing her arm. She clenched her teeth. It may have been a minor hit, but it really hurt. A solid blow would be fatal.
Then she noticed Fist was next to Chain and had began charging. She had to get some distance from these guys and fast. “Plant Weed!” Though her timing was perfect and the thorny vines wrapped around Fist, it tore through them without even slowing down. She leapt back, but Fist through its punch and it connected. She hit the ground and rolled.
<That’s how TK lost,> Kari realized as she stood up, <No tricks. They’re just too strong! And I rushed in like an idiot!>
She felt a flash pain and saw Sword next to her with the sword drawn. Then she was human again. <Focus!> she screamed at herself as she transformed into Angewomon. She had to get out of here now!
She started to fly up but Axe appeared right in front of her. <No!> “Heaven’s-” was all she got off before it swung its axe down and into her head.
Human again, she started to stand, but Fist planted its foot down on her chest and then grabbed her digivice. Not believing what she was seeing, she could only watch as Fist crushed it.
“Now you will die,” Sword said moving next to Fist. Sword raised its weapon. Kari braced herself.
<I’m sorry TK. I failed you again.> Suddenly a crash was heard and Fist’s legs went up. The next thing Kari knew, she was being carried and everything was a blur. Then the carrier stopped and her mind caught up with up what had happened. She looked at the Quickmon who rescued her. “Jane?”
“That’s me,” she answered, “I’m sorry I couldn’t get here sooner, but those caused a lot damage to follow.” Her voice lowered. “I saw what they did to you digivice.”
“My fault,” Kari admitted, the weight of her failure dawning, “I should’ve known better.” Then she noticed that Jane’s left arm was limp. “What happened to your arm?”
“That robot’s ankles were too hard for my arm to take. Just the Form though. It’ll heal. Wish I knew what they were made of, though. Anyways, Tai called us in. Looks like our fight continues.” Kari nodded, but it didn’t matter now. She and TK were Formless and therefore, useless. _________________ Red Green's words of wisdom:

Foreword: "Well no one can ever fully plan something except if you have lots of money which is only a handfull in the whole world"
No, but I can plan out all the important parts of the story to make certain that everything flows properly. In Digimon Z's I case, I didn't. Most of the stuff was done on a whim.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tai wasn’t sure how to begin the Digidestined meeting he called. Everyone was told about TK’s and Kari’s defeat. They were holding each other on the left with Matt and Sora on either side. On the right was Max and Jane. They were supposed to be working out ideas to get TK and Kari back in the fight.
“I got nothing,” he admitted after a couple minutes, “No one’s ever found a way to restore a digivice. Though if it happened more often, I’m sure something could be discovered.”
“I called Yamaki and he said the same thing,” Sora responded, “He’s having everyone he can work on finding a solution, but he also has to figure what he’s going to do if the robots attack again.”
“How about your combination attack?” Matt suggested, “I bet the robots would be vaporized by it.” Tai turned his attention to TK and Kari, but they didn’t look any better. They must have already considered it. Of course they did.
“Wouldn’t work,” TK said, “The robots fight by surrounding us and forcing our moves. They wouldn’t give us time to charge it and we did, we’d only be able to hit one and then we’d be in no condition to do anything.”
“What if you find a way to fire it in small bursts?” Sora spoke. TK and Kari looked a bit thoughtful, but Kari shook her head.
“Once we fire it, it bursts out,” she said, “We can’t stop it until its gone.”
“Maybe we need some of that digivolving virus,” Max joked. TK’s eyes snapped open.
“That’s it!” he said.
“I was kidding!” Max said, “Virus bad! Remember?! It screws up everyone‘s head worse than mine!”
“The virus triggers the internal energies used to digivolve,” TK answered, “Our Forms are also internal energy.”
Max gave TK a hard look. “Watch’you talkin’ ‘bout boy?”
“And we already know how to call on it,” Kari continued, sounding hopeful, “If we can find out how to do something other than fire it out, we could transform again.” They leapt to their feet.
“Where are you going?” Tai asked.
“To Pixiemon,” TK said, “He arranged it so we’d have the Shadowmon and Darkmon Forms, so he may know a way to control the power.”
***
“Okay,” Matt said once TK and Kari had been warped into the Digital World, “now we just need to work on our part.”
“Agreed,” Tai said, “TK and Kari mean so much to all of u. I’m not taking the sidelines again.”
“It’ll be tough, though,” Jane said, “We can’t fight at their level.”
“There’s other ways,” Sora pointed out, “Remember how much we helped them during our first battle with Mikain. Let‘s see if we can keep any more of those robots from coming.”
“I’ll leave that to you,” Max said, “This thinking stuff hurts my head.”
“Matrix,” Matt said, “It’s possible that such robots could exist there and the brainwashing also put the layout in my and Tai’s heads. We could find our way blindfolded.”
“I like it,” Sora said but then took a breath, “But what if we run into that big robot again?” Tai suppressed a shudder.
“That robot is Hunter,” he said, “The ultimate security robot. It’s armour is an unknown alloy, but it makes chrome digizoid look like tin foil and it has weapons for any type of opponent. It’s basically unbeatable.
It was actually around since before Mikain took over; it seems that he wasn’t actually the one who turned Matrix into what it is. I believe it was those old cyber terrorists Hexa who did it and they may have created Hunter. We don’t know for sure, though, since even Trev couldn’t understand Hunter’s design.”
“We were always instructed to claim that Mikain made Matrix into what it is to make him more intimidating,” Matt added, “and knowing him, to see if the ones truly responsible would react to the credit being taken. He hates unknowns.
Avoiding Hunter’s going to be tricky. It’s linked to a main supercomputer that stores all information it gathers so it will never forget anyone it encounters. Its body has a powerful sensor built in with a decent radius so all it has to do fly around to scan everything. Helping it are smaller probe drones. Their sensors are much weaker, but there’s hundreds of them and they all send their information to the computer which sends it Hunter. They serve as it‘s eyes and ears.”
“So it knows us,” Jane stated, “Great. Just great.”
“Hunter itself does,” Matt confirmed, “but not the probes. Humans don’t give off nearly as much energy as the digimon do so the probes don’t have enough power to recognize you.”
“But if they see us that information will go to Hunter,” Jane said. Tai and Matt nodded.
“We’ll have to stay out of their sight, but if as long as they don’t see us with their optical sensors, Hunter won’t know.”
“If any of you don’t want to risk it,” Tai said, “I won’t blame you. Hunter is almost impossible to avoid.”
“We’re going,” Sora said, “The less we do, the more TK and Kari have to.”
“I’ll never repay my debt to them,” Jane said, “But that won’t stop me from trying.”
“They’re my friends,” Max said, “That’s all the reason I’ll ever need to stick my neck out.”
***
“First of all,” Pixiemon said after the longest seconds of TK’s life, “I’m not disappointed that you lost to those robots. Someone who could program them to arrange such an ambush would have to know your Form’s strength.” Relief flowed through TK’s body. Pixiemon had devoted to training him and Kari so letting him down was like a crime.
“I’m not surprised about the sword being destroyed either,” Pixiemon continued, “Shadowmon swords were invulnerable because they bonded with the Shadowmon’s spirit and their will to fight gave it limitless strength. However, your sword was simply meant to be a key to your Form and since it belongs to the Form and not to you, you couldn’t give it as much power. The fear from being so helpless didn’t help either.”
“But can you train us to use our power?” Kari asked, “The combination attack is only good at certain times.”
“Unfortunately I don’t know enough about that power to help you use it,” Pixiemon admitted, “but I do have a theory.”
“We’ll try anything,” TK said.
“You recall when I first told you to punch?” Pixiemon asked. TK and Kari nodded. They punched their absolute hardest which were not only slow to start, but had a lot of wasted momentum which made them slow to recover from.
“We were terrible at it,” TK said with a laugh, having a hard believing he and Kari were such amateurs so long ago.
“But not anymore.” TK nodded. Now his punches were strong and fast with no wasted movement. “It’s the same with digimon attacks.” What?
“What do you mean?” Kari asked.
“We digimon call on our power to perform our attacks instantly, but in reality, that’s no better than your early punches. While we work on our aim, firing rate, and so on, we never think to focus our energy better. Never a need since digivolution covered our needs for power.
But when the Shadowmon and Darkmon became the world’s guardians, they realized that they would be expected to handle Megas so they focused on finding ways to improve the strength of their attacks. They discovered that through the proper mental exercises, they would achieve full control over their energy and their attacks took on new forms. Just as easy to do as before, but superior in every way and a full level stronger. In other words, a Champion would have the attack power of an Ultimate.
This proved to be so powerful, that they decided that only the highest ranking Shadowmon, Darkmon, and their most trusted allies would be permitted to learn these secrets. They each created a trial that would reward whoever completed it with the knowledge. And because they had allies, the trials are designed so anyone could complete them.
So my theory is that since your power is similar to digimon energy, the trials could help you master you power.” Pixiemon sighed and then continued. “But failure results in death. They considered the knowledge too risky to take any chances with. And even you do succeed, there’s no guarantee that you’ll gain anything.”
“We have to try,” TK answered.
“We’ve had bad odds before,” Kari said. Pixiemon nodded and handed them each a small stone.
“These are the keys to the trials. TK, you get the Shadowmon, Kari, you get the Darkmon. I’ll take you to the grounds where they’re held.” _________________ Red Green's words of wisdom:

of course some will plan the main part,if not you need to keep everything in your head.
the only problem i have is the start and ending.i can make a good story but i'll never know where was the start nor when its time to stop.do you have the same problem? _________________ don't mind me.I'm quite quiet.

Foreword: Sorry this took so long. I found that my later chapters weren’t flowing together very well, so I figured it’d be better to get this first half finished initially so I can make any needed changes.
“the only problem i have is the start and ending.i can make a good story but i'll never know where was the start nor when its time to stop.do you have the same problem?”
Starting is a problem for me. My first attempts at a start are always terrible. Stopping’s easy though. The end is always worked out while I’m still starting the planning. My real trouble area however, is the transition between the story arcs since it’s basically another start right in the middle of the story. It’s bad enough that I’ve decided that my story arcs will be separate stories from now on.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The trial grounds was a large stone arena-like area built into a mountain. Above were two large statues and two doors were beneath each.
The statue on the left looked like a Shadowmon, but the face was completely covered and a set wings were on the back. “That would be AngeShadowmon,” Pixiemon informed, “The Shadowmon’s Mega form.”
“And the other is Darkmon’s Mega,” Kari figured pointing to the statue on the right. It was similar to Darkmon, but the hair was smoothed out and clothes almost looked like armour.
“That’s right,” Pixiemon answered, “HolyDarkmon. The Megas likely played a big part in their decision to become our guardians.
Hold the keys up.” TK and Kari did as instructed and a beam of light came from each of the statues and struck the key. The doors farthest from each other opened.
“It’s all in your hands, now,” Pixiemon said, “I’m sure you’ll pull through.”
***
TK stepped through the doorway and slammed shut behind him. He looked back and couldn’t even see where it was. No turning back it looked like. He looked around. The cave was empty and a somewhat lit despite no visible light source and the walls formed a circle.
He walked to the centre and someone dropped down. <Trev!> Trev gave him cold smile and transformed into Assassinmon. TK found himself gripping a sword and looked at himself. <I’m Shadowmon again!> But something was missing. <The energy for my attacks are gone! This is bad!> But how did he transform?
Trev charged with an overhead swing and TK snapped out of his thoughts. No time to ask questions. TK met the charge with a two-handed swing from his right and Trev sprung back once their swords met.
<Gonna lose this fight like before?> an all too familiar voice sounded in his head.
<Takeru?! How?!> Trev charged again but this time with his sword pointed at TK. <Never mind! He got me with that charge last time so I have to stop it!>
<Good luck with that,> Takeru said in a flat tone. Ignore him. TK pointed his sword at Trev with both hands charged. The tips clashed and Trev suddenly changed to a spin. TK stopped and ducked the slash at his neck and took a stab at Trev’s stomach, but Trev leapt back.
<When Trev kills you,> Takeru spoke up, <I’ll have your body and those nightmares I showed will become a reality.> TK froze at the memories. When he and Takeru had their last mental battle, Takeru tortured him by showing him images of himself killing everyone around him.
“No!” TK shouted forcing himself back to reality and saw Trev swing at his chest. TK quickly moved his sword in the way and blocked, but he was pushed back and Trev swung again. <Focus!> TK calmed himself as he blocked the other swing.
<How do you expect to win with those skills?> Takeru asked.
<I’ll find a way!> TK shouted back.
<Why don’t you run to Kari? Letting your girl fight your battles has always been your best strategy!>
“Shut up!!” TK screamed and then remembered he was still fighting Trev. <Stay focused you idiot!!>
Trev was charging again with his sword pointed out. TK hurried to get his sword in the same position and charge, but their weapons met before TK was ready and his was pushed aside. He leaned back as the sword reached him and rolled to the side and back up to his feet as he heard Trev’s sword clash with the ground behind him.
<You can’t win by dodging,> Takeru laughed, <Fighting means you actually have to hurt your opponent!> Ignore him. Focus on Trev who was charging with an overhead swing. <And when you die, I’m going turn Kari into my plaything and make her think it’s you. She let me do whatever I want to punish herself for failing you!>
Kari?! That did it! End this now and then get Takeru out his head! TK charged with a stab and was ready to evade Trev’s swing but Trev leapt up and then swung. Before TK could realize what had just happened, Trev’s blade slashed down on head.
Trev was gone. <What happened? I thought he had me?> TK looked around and realized that he was human again and right back where he was when Trev first appeared. It was as if the fight never happened. Then he noticed the tablet floating in front of him.
IF YOU ARE READING THIS, it read, YOU HAVE BEEN CRUSHED BY YOUR INNER DEMONS AND ARE THEREFORE UNWORTHY OF THE POWER YOU SEEK. BEYOND THIS ROOM YOU WILL ENDURE THE TRIALS TO GAIN THE INNER STRENGTH TO STAND UP TO THEM. SUCCEED AND YOU WILL HAVE A GREATER POWER THAN YOU IMAGINED. FAIL AND YOU WILL DIE.
Behind the tablet, a doorway opened. <That seemed so real. But it’s true. Takeru was just speaking. I should’ve been able to ignore him and focus on Trev. But if that test can pit those two against me, I‘m sure that the trials will give me what I need to overcome them. I WILL pass!>
***
Kari walked to the centre of the round cavern. What kind of trial was going to happen in a place like this. Suddenly metal bars burst out of the ground she suddenly found herself in a cage above a bottomless pit. What just happened?
“Why do you require the forbidden knowledge of the Darkmon?!” A harsh voice rang from all directions. “What makes you worthy of it?!”
Kari took a deep breath. Failure obviously meant being dropped. “I need it fight off a group of robots that are terrorizing the Digital World.”
“So?” What kind of answer was that?
“I’m a Digidestined. I have to fight these kinds of threats.”
“So?”
“I lost access to my original power so I need this new source to keep the world safe!”
“So?” It was like reasoning with a six year-old.
“So my boyfriend is also fighting and I need to stay fight at his side.”
“So?”
“So I have to destroy those robots before they kill anyone else!”
“What if they kill you?” Well, at least it wasn’t a one word answer again.
“I’m ready for to take that chance!”
“Why are you willing to die?”
“There’s many lives at stake! My one life can’t compare to all of their’s!” What was so hard to get?
“What’s makes them so special? Why are they worth dieing over?”
“I have the skill to help them and I had the power, so I have to fight for them! It’s my duty!”
“If you die will they care?” Kari wasn’t sure how to answer that. Would they? It seemed like it, but then again, it could that they’d just be worried about losing a protector. As a person, she probably didn’t mean anything to them. But there would be those who would care, wouldn’t there?
“Would TK care?” How did it- of course it would.
“Yes he would.”
“What will he do if you die? Who will be his moral compass? Not many are willing to give him a chance and of those who do, you‘re the only one who knows him well enough.” That was something Kari did her best to never think of.
“I don’t know,” she admitted.
“You promised to pull him through all the difficulties brought on by the Warzone. That is the most important promise you’ve ever made, yet is it so trivial compared to your duty? He depends on you!”
“I don’t know.” The words tasted awful. She never even considered it.
“If you died, what would stop TK from going bad? All that hate could turn him into the very evil you fight or could simply become consumed by Takeru. Doesn’t that matter to you?”
“I do but-”
“But what?”
“But we vowed to use our power to protect everyone we can no matter what it costs us!”
“Why are you so willing to throw your lives away for strangers?!”
“Because we have the power to keep them safe!” Didn’t they go over this already?
“How is that different from Mikain?” What?! Mikain?!
“I’m nothing like him!”
“Mikain believed in power that the strong had the right to rule the weak.”
“I didn’t say that! The strong are to protect the weak!”
“What right do you have to decide who gets protected? Would it be so bad if the world was ruled by Mikain? Would unifying the world under leader be so much worse than the way things are now?”
“No single person has the right to rule the world!”
“How many of the current leaders deserve their power?”
“No single person has the right to rule the world!” She clenched her teeth. She hated repeating herself, but nothing else came to her!
“Why not?”
“Because too much power corrupts!”
“If so much power corrupts, then why should you be trusted with the power you seek?”
“I’ll only use it to keep the world safe!”
“Safe from what? If a lion chases an antelope, will you save the antelope? Will you save it’s life by making the lion starve? Or will you help the lion and sacrifice the antelope for the lion? What’s your choice?”
“I-I don’t know.” She hung her head. This was going very badly.
“What’s to keep you from disrupting everything to keep everyone what you call ‘safe’? What are you protecting them from and who what side will you sacrifice? And if you love TK so much, why are you willing to risk leaving him forever for the sake of strangers?”
Kari tried to think of an answer, but nothing came. She fell to her knees and closed her eyes. “I don’t know,” she whispered.
She opened her eyes, not sure why it didn’t feel like she was falling. The cave was normal again except this time a stone tablet was floating in front of her. Other than that it was like the experience never happened.
<What a nightmare.> She looked at the tablet.
IF YOU ARE READING THIS YOU HAVE FAILED TO UNDERSTAND THE TRUE REASON WHY NEED THIS POWER. BEYOND THIS ROOM ARE THE TRIALS THAT WILL PROVIDE THE UNDERSTANDING FOR YOURSELF. YOU WILL BE GIVEN ONE LAST CHANCE TO PROVE YOU CAN BE TRUSTED WITH IT AND IF YOU SUCCEED AND YOU WILL HAVE A GREATER POWER THAN YOU IMAGINED. FAIL AND YOU WILL DIE.
So it was just a test then. <But next time will be for real. I hope I can find the answers.> _________________ Red Green's words of wisdom:

oh,i loved the trails.those makes me remember at the begining where TK and kairi had to battle to gain the power.
though end for arcs....i don't think i would have as much of a problem, simply because its the end of 1 adventure, plus you can start one right off.making just 1 story having to include explaination with the intro then having to make the whole thing end is much harder than smaller but more intro/ends.......but that's my opinion _________________ don't mind me.I'm quite quiet.

Foreword: “making just 1 story having to include explaination with the intro then having to make the whole thing end is much harder than smaller but more intro/ends.......but that's my opinion”
The multiple explanations could be a pain, but it’s a small price to pay for allowing the skip the transitions between arcs all together which are for me are worse than beginnings or endings. And I think having an intro to an arc taking place right after the previous would be easier for me than starting a completely new story.

Jane took a deep breath as she looked around the large gray block-shaped buildings. Good thing Tai and Matt were here since everything looked the same. “I guess we should first find a hideout.”
“Good idea,” Sora agreed, “Any ideas guys?” No answer. Jane looked around. She saw Max, but where were Tai and Matt?
“I guess we’re missing some people,” Max commented, “What the heck happened?”
“We better find them now,” Sora said, “Getting lost around here looks very easy.” She transformed into Garudamon and flew up.
A small humming sound was heard and five small figures came flying in. Each one looked like a small laser cannon about the size of an arm. They suddenly started firing and Jane felt her pack with food and other supplies get blasted off. She looked and Max and the same happened to him. Then the robots headed straight for Sora and began firing.
Jane transformed into Cybermon and tried to aim her Track Laser, but every time she targeted one, moved away. “They sense my lock-on’s!” she called to Sora.
If Sora could hear, she didn’t give any sign. She was too busy zipping around trying to evade their constant attacks and it didn’t look like she was doing very well. “I can’t fight like this!” Sora called down and bolted off with the robots chasing at the same speed.
Jane switched to Quickmon. “We have to keep up!” she said to Max as he climbed on her back.
“I know! Let’s move!” Jane blasted forward, but despite her Form’s superior speed, winding through the maze of buildings made it impossible to keep up and within seconds, Sora was out of sight.
“We lost her,” Jane muttered, “I guess she’s on her own.”
“She still has her supply pack so she’s better off than we are,” Max pointed out, “She’s as tough as you, so I wouldn’t worry too much.” His voice told her otherwise, but he was right. They couldn’t afford to worry now. They were lost and had no supplies.
Where the heck were Tai and Matt?
***
“This isn’t Matrix,” Matt said. Tai had to agree. They had told informed Yamaki of their plans and he told them that, according to Pixiemon, TK and Kari were undergoing trials that could help them utilize their power better. But for some reason, they didn’t appear in Matrix.
Tai looked around to see what the others thought but saw that he and Matt were alone. “Where are the others?!”
“How should I know?” Matt asked, “I don’t even know where we are!” Tai looked around and saw that they were in an empty metal room but there were large windows behind them. Outside looked high tech like Matrix, but the layout was completely different. They were quite high up too.
Something opened behind them .They turned around and saw a group of people in blocky gray armour and helmets with round dark visors marching in. Between them was a brown-haired man with black eyes in a hovering chair and wearing similar armour but without the helmet. <That’s the armour of Mikain’s elite troopers!>
Tai got ready to transform. Each one was as well trained as himself and Matt so if came down a fight, the Form’s would be a requirement. <I just hope they aren’t ready for them.>
“Greetings Flame and Light,” the man in the hover chair spoke, “My name is Jastar Verik, Supreme Commander of the Matrix Defence Force.” Jastar Verik. Tai hated to admit it, but he felt honoured. Jastar was known for winning fights against the worst odds and so fearless, that many joked that he was immortal because he’d sucker punch the reaper.
“What’s going on?!” Matt demanded, “This isn’t Matrix!”
“It’s Upper Matrix,” Jastar answered, “You wouldn’t know about it since we stay high out of view and we’re kind of a secret. Only those stationed here or who can command us know about it.”
“How did we get here?” Tai asked, “We’re supposed to be in, uh, Lower Matrix.”
“We intercepted you with out portal technology. We considered bringing your friends with you, but we decided that it was better they stayed in Lower Matrix. There’s an enemy agent down there that they’re bound to cause many headaches for.”
“Why are we here?” Matt asked in a dark voice. Tai felt the same. They were not about to support Mikain’s side again.
“We need you help,” Jastar answered, “We were hoping to get the two strongest, but the enemy has already beaten them.”
“Who’s the enemy?”
“I’ll start from the beginning.” Jastar took a deep breath. “As you no doubt know, Matrix was in its current state long before Mikain took over. It seemed to have been developed by Hexa, though we don’t know for sure. Anyways, Mikain noticed advanced all the technology was and falling into the wrong hands could disastrous. I’m aware you hate Mikain, but you I’m sure you also understand his desire to avoid senseless destruction. In wrong hands, Matrix could spell the end of everything and even though it was moved to a point between the Digital and Human Worlds, it’s not inaccessible.
Because of this, we were formed. After we set up our floating cities up here, Lector came and told us about a computer known as Destral. Destral was built by Hexa and answers to a consciousness that Hexa behind and still carries their ambitions to dominate everything. Naturally, Matrix would be his first target.
Lector was right. Robots rained down on us and took over half the floating cities before we were able to establish a solid defence line. After that we reached a stalemate, but then Geros Luzek, the previous commander, learnt about you two. He asked if you could be sent over since we weren’t getting anywhere but Lector told we’d likely get something better.
We carried on for four years and then we were given eight robotic copies of you: four of Light, four of Flame. He told us how you two had turned back to your old selves but had been captured allowing these stronger robots to be built. The only other Flame and Light copy was guarding Matrix to see how they performed against you. Did you fight them?”
“Oh yeah,” Tai answered with a shudder. He and Matt beat the copies, but just barely. To think there were more.
“From the looks of you they did quite well. We did some tests and saw they were stronger than anything else up here so we made a move against Destral. He seemed to be preparing a move against us since his main base had taken the front lines as it had usually did, probably to analyze the battle better.
We launched our move first and the robots shredded through everything Destral sent and we managed to destroy Destral, or so we thought.” Jastar took a deep breath and suddenly looked very sad. “My team separated from Geros’ to speed up the mopping up of Destral’s remaining forces when a new robot attacked. We were slaughtered and I got away only because it let me. Turns out it was Destral. He had transferred himself into a battle body and had left the computer with a brain capable of only mimicking his existing strategies.
I got to Geros and warned him about Destral, but he reminded me how powerful the robot Flames and Lights were. I hoped he was right, but he wasn’t. Destral took them all on at once and tore them apart like they were nothing. I tried to help, but he stabbed me through the spine left me for dead and then,” Jastar took a deep breath, “he killed Geros.”
Wait. This Destral could destroy the robot Flames and Lights that easily?
“We barely beat one each,” Tai admitted.
“I figured, but we’re desperate. Only a few of my men survived that day and now Destral seems to have a never ending supply of robots. Before he used the consciousness Hexa left him to provide the parts and power, but their probably being sent to a factory on Matrix. The factories there are far better than the ones up here and that means he now has an agent down there that your friends can hopefully deal with. Besides, you two may not be as strong as the robots, but you are smarter. I’m sure you’ll find some weakness that they didn’t.
I know you hate Mikain, but the fact is, we’re losing and a warmonger like Destral controlling Matrix is far worse than Mikain. And if that‘s not enough, Destral has rounded up some humans for some reason and both your parents are among them.”
“What?!” Tai and Matt exclaimed. That explained why his parents were gone longer than usual.
“What kind of body does Destral have?” Matt asked, his voice filled with a quiet fury.
The windows behind them shattered and alarms began sounding. Tai and Matt turned around and saw a robotic humanoid but the arms and legs were thin. The chest and waist had a little bulk and ended on sharp edges. It had three long fingers and toes with claws. Attached to the long neck was a skull-shaped head with narrow red eyes. “That’s Destral,” Jastar said, his voice intense.
“Take them,” Destral ordered. Other robots began leaping in through the window Each one was a gray humanoid with a staff that had glowing tips. The face had two red eyes and they each wore dark blue cloaks.
Tai heard more soldiers rush in from behind and they all began firing while one of the Staffers lunged at Tai. He ducked a swing and transformed. He then leapt back from a jab. The robot took another jab, but it didn’t get far. “Purifying Light!” Matt’s white beam disintegrated the robot’s head.
He heard a series of screams and looked in the direction they were coming from. Destral was slamming the soldiers into the walls and floor. Tai looked at Matt and he nodded. Destral was going down.
They charged at him but three more Staffers got in the way. Matt over them but Tai kept his charge so they wouldn’t notice Matt. The centre Staffer took a shot at him with the right end of its staff. Tai stopped and sidestepped and the Staffer used its left while the left joined with a jab to the head. Tai ducked and the right Staffer attacked. He caught the weapon just above the glowing point and leapt back as the first two retracted their weapons.
The instant he touched the ground, he lunged forward with a swipe that tore through the left Staffer and landed between the right and centre. The centre, now the left, lunged with a stab but Tai twisted around it. The right took its own jab but Tai leapt back and raised his arms. “Terra Force!” He hurled the massive fireball at the Staffer who just attacked, but it spun the staff around and the flames wrapped around it and then disappeared.
The other Staffer had gotten to his left during the exchange and charged. Tai spun to face it, ducked, and sprung forward, lancing his claws through its body. The remaining robot took its usual charge, but this time he charged back and batted its weapon aside. Using his other hand, he drove his claws through the robot’s head and it went down. Finally. These things were a pain.
He saw Matt and Destral’s battle. Not much of one. Destral was swinging his beamswords predictably and Matt was blocking, but being pushed back. But then Tai noticed something. It was speeding up. Destral was gradually swinging faster and it would only be a matter of time before it got too fast for Matt to keep up.
Better end it now. “Terra Force!” Once Tai’s fireball reached Destral, he simply spun his arms around his body and the flames wrapped around, but it gave Matt a chance to back away.
“This guy’s tough!”
“This way!” Jastar called over the chaos. Tai looked and saw him at the doorway signalling everyone to come.
They, along the few surviving soldiers followed him through the doorway and hall into a transparent elevator allowing them to see how high up they were. Metal doors slammed shut behind them. Jastar pressed a button that would probably lead down to the surface. Tai heard the metal doors get smashed open and Jastar pressed the button a few more times. “Move you piece of garbage! Don’t start acting up now!”
The last metal door shattered and Destral came running through. Jastar continued pressing the button and cursing the elevator. Matt and the soldiers fired a few times but Destral leapt over each shot. Destral reached the elevator but the doors slammed shut and it shot down at high speed. Tai started to relax when one of the soldiers spoke up. “You’ve gotta be kidding me!” Tai looked out the right where the soldier was looking and saw Destral running down the wall staring out them. That just wasn’t fair.
“Take a hint! Purifying Light!” Matt shouted and fired. The laser went through the elevator hit the wall where Destral was and he disappeared, though the speed the elevator was moving made it impossible to tell what had happened.
A thump sounded on top. Uh oh. A beamsword slashed through the roof and began cutting through. “Purifying Light!” Matt fired upward and Destral stopped. Was he knocked off?
The elevator reached the bottom but Destral dropped down in front of them. “Out of the way!” Jastar shouted and threw some small black spheres. They exploded with a bright flash. “This way,” Jastar commanded as they slipped back Destral who leapt out of attack range.
Jastar lead them to some kind of rectangular floating vehicle while the soldiers took another route. He hit a button on his chair and it sprung up onto the vehicle. Tai and Matt leapt on and it took off. “Robots are everywhere so they have to go help the others fight the off,” Jastar as they climbed on, “This is just to transport food around, but it should be fast enough. Most of this place is automated to a specific schedule and I have it memorized.” Four Staffers dropped on in front of them. Great. Not even a second to rest.
Matt stepped in front and one came at him with three quick jabs, but he deflected them with his beamswords and ducked the swing that followed. Another leapt behind him but Matt stood with a spinning cut that sliced it in half. The first leapt over him but since they were already moving, it landed in front of Tai with its back turned to him. Tai quickly sliced it apart and turned his attention to Jastar.
The other were after him but he was firing at them with a couple blaster pistols and Tai noticed a few bolts get through and the robots collapsed. He was good.
Destral landed on the edge of the transport in front of them with his beamswords out. Just how fast can this guy run? He slashed at the hull and the transport began to fall. He leapt off. “He just slashed the engines,” Jastar said, his voice filled with annoyance.
“Be nice if Destral was an armchair commander,” Tai commented. As the transport neared the ground, the trio leapt off. The ground seemed to be lined with tracks.
“I’d say he planned this,” Jastar said, “because most of the rocket trains go through this area.” More Staffers dropped down.
***
Two Staffers swung at Matt at once, but he managed to block them. The charged but he leapt up and sheathed his left sword just in case there was any surprises. He landed on one of the many tracks and gripped his other sword with both hands, grateful for TK helping him with his single sword techniques.
The two robots attacked again and Matt dove to the left and swung at the nearest one. It blocked and jabbed, but Matt deflected it. The other looped over to his right and swung, but he ducked and swung at its legs, but it dropped the lower end of its staff and blocked. The first swung at him ,but he managed to block and then saw something coming up fast. He leapt back from the track and a train shot by mowing down the two Staffers.
He realized was still on a track. In fact, not landing on one was almost impossible here. And another train was coming. He heard a robot drop down behind him as he leapt back to the first track. He turned and saw the robot had followed him, narrowly avoiding the train. Two more join in and they all swing, but Matt spun back, glad was using just one sword since he could grip it with both hands and pushed the three robots back onto the previous track where another train was coming and smashed through them.
A robot dropped behind him. With an annoyed sigh, he spun and faced it. “Purifying Light!” His beam struck before the robot could even wield its staff and took its head off. Then up ahead he saw Tai and Jastar fending off more Staffers.
He worked his way over, watching for trains, but one cut across his path. Within a couple seconds, it left revealing Destral. Great. Destral leapt high up but backwards and landed on Tai destroying his Form.
Matt rushed over but Destral sprung at him and with a flash, sliced through him with both beam swords. As the Staffers grabbed him and Tai, some kind of flying transport carrying MDF soldiers swooped down and grabbed Jastar with a metal claw. Once Jastar was on, it extended for Tai, but Destral cut down and the transport fled.
<Some help we were,> Matt thought as the robots pulled him to his feet. _________________ Red Green's words of wisdom:

now for this one i read it really fast and in 2 shots so i will have to reread it to actually give good comments about this part.though the fighting seems quite interesting
exactly smaller intro between parts of a big story is better than making the whole thing start.
now that i think of it,your right about multiple explaination are better than transitions.you get to explain many things but you don't need a full page to explain it all,you take bits of everywhere to explain...now did that make sense? _________________ don't mind me.I'm quite quiet.

Foreword: “you get to explain many things but you don't need a full page to explain it all,you take bits of everywhere to explain...now did that make sense?”
Yeah, that’s about right. Another reason I’ve realized is that when a story is big like this one, I tend to get bored part way through and want to work on the ideas that came up in the mean time. With the smaller parts, that won’t happen so much and it’ll be easier to juggle multiple projects.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Before TK stepped through the doorway another tablet appeared. DO YOU INTEND TO CREATE A SWORD?
“Yes,” TK said. The words changed.
THEN ENTER AND ACQUIRE THE METAL. The tablet disappeared. He stepped through and the doorway slammed shut. He was almost bowled over by the intense heat. The room was red and clouds of steam burst out of the cracks in the floor along with the occasional flame.
<What kind of trial is this?> he wondered. Going through a hot room wasn’t hard. <What would Mom if she knew what I was doing?> Where’d that thought come from? It’s not like he was ever going to get answer. Trev saw to that. TK clenched his fist at the memory and more flames jetted out of the cracks nearby.
<As if it wasn’t bad enough that he put us in the Warzone! Almost all of my friends turned on me!> He felt sweat start to drip down. The room was feeling hotter and more flames were jetting out than before. But that didn’t matter. All that mattered now was that Trev was getting away with ruining is life and murdering his mother and he was the one paying for it! <Why do I have to suffer for his crimes?!>
<That’s right. He worked for Mikain!> That thought made him even angrier. More flames began jetting out and most of them didn’t even go out. <Everyone working for Mikain gets away with everything! Everything at the expense of people like me!>
And why was it that every time TK and others gained a victory over Mikain, thing’s got worse?! First Mikain sends in his virus, they beat it but despite their victory the digimon he was after awakens. They destroy it and he still claims it! He almost creates and invincible army and they stop him, but then these unbeatable robots come out of nowhere!
“Why?!” he shouted. Flames burst out of all the cracks and stayed lit, but TK didn’t care. “Why do things keep getting worse?!” He fell to his knees. “Why should I keep fighting?! Even if we destroy those robots, something worse will just come along!”
He suddenly remembered what happened the day after Trev killed his mother.
FLASHBACK
TK didn’t what part of the Digital World he just warped to. Only that there was no else here. With a scream he drove his fist into the ground. “Why did I do it?! I knew I couldn’t take Trev! So why?!”
“Found you,” Pixiemon said from behind. TK whipped around. “Kari told me what happened.”
“Why does all this happen to me?”
“I can’t tell you,” Pixiemon admitted, “The funny thing about life is that even though we live it forward, we can only understand it backwards.” What kind of crap was that? Pixiemon seemed to pick on what he was thinking. “We can only understand why things happen by understanding the results, but we haven’t seen the results of your hardships yet. When we do, I’m sure it’ll make sense”
END FLASHBACK
Think about the results? TK tried to concentrate and noticed how insanely hot it was. He looked around and almost the entire cavern was covered in flames that reached the ceiling and they were slowly creeping towards him. <Is this my anger?>
The results. Think about the results. What good came from all that misery? Kari. They were always good friends, but those experiences brought them so much closer. He loved his relationship with her.
But that wasn’t worth the cost. She tried to protect him from Trev but wasn’t able to. But after his mother was killed, she did give a home away from that murderer. <When Mom died, I was set free from Trev and the Warzone!> That still didn’t explain the need to enter the Warzone, but it did make him feel a tad better. The flames receded a little.
<And what about my friends?> he wondered. Well, after they left him, TK threw himself into the training to at least temporarily forget and Kari did the same to keep up. Come to think of it, because he and Kari finished so quickly, they were able to save the others. <They’d have been killed if we had taken even an hour longer!>
As for the way things kept getting worse, the answer was obvious. The enemy had prepared this. Mikain was brilliant enough and if someone could prepare those robots so soon after Mikain’s death, then they were brilliant too. <And Kari couldn’t face anymore of the carnage those robots caused, but I could! If I hadn’t been hardened by the Warzone, all the fighting would’ve crushed me!>
Pixiemon was right. He did understand. As awful as those experiences were, they were nothing compared to what everyone else would’ve gone though if he hadn’t been put through it all. <As terrible as it all was, it’s a small sacrifice if it means being able to fight off such a great threat. I just have to make sure those sacrifices aren‘t in vain.>
He stood and noticed how cool everything was. The fire and even steam were gone and the room was now a light gray. <So it was my anger.> He walked over to the lump of metal. <To think that Trev may have actually sealed his fate with his twisted game.>
Something felt odd. He suddenly realized what had just happened. <I thought of Trev but no anger followed! I guess I really do understand!>
Smiling he grabbed the metal. It felt like putty. Was this even metal. A tablet appeared in front of him. THIS IS SOUL DIGIZOID. USELESS ALONE, BUT WHEN BONDED WITH A WORTHY SOUL, ITS STRENGTH SHALL KNOW NO BOUNDS.
***
Kari walked through the doorway into an identical room. Something grabbed her from behind. She threw the assailant off. It was some kind of man in a black ninja-suit and mask. “Kill you!” he should and lunged. She sidestepped and hit him in the back. He may have looked like a ninja, but he clearly wasn’t one.
“What are you doing?!” she demanded.
“I’m going to kill you!” he shouted and lunged again. She drove her palm into his chin and he went down but then crawled back up.
“Why?!”
“You deserve it!” He rushed again gain. Deserve it? What could he mean by that, unless, he must be working for Mikain. She did play a part in his death.
She leapt at him and forced him onto his back. She raised her fist and braced herself. She knew she’d have to kill to prevent more people from getting hurt. <But who else has he hurt?>
She realized she had only assumed he was working for Mikain. “Please, what did I do?”
“I’m a digital human,” he man growled, “My village was destroyed by these five robots. We were counting on you and your partner but you abandoned us! Now I’m all that’s left! Where were you?!”
“We were tracking them the best we could,” Kari answered, her voice cracking, “but they just managed to stay ahead of us.” Nothing was worse than facing the loved ones of the victims who were counting on her. “We didn’t abandon you.”
“You should pay for your failure!”
“There was nothing we could’ve done! That attack too well time and planned!”
“Excuses won’t bring them back!” the man snapped.
“No they won’t,” Kari agreed, “But TK and I are only two people. There’s a limit to what we can do.”
“Excuses!” the man exploded, “Everyone I know is dead now! Why won’t you accept your responsibility?!”
“I do!” Kari shouted back, “But I also have the responsibility to prevent this from happening again!”
“How are you going to make up for it?!” Good question. Only one answer came to mind, but it wasn’t a possibility. Still, might as well admit it.
“I’d give you my life,” she said, “but I can’t. There are too many people counting on me. TK can’t do this by himself and he needs me as more than a partner. I can’t give up my life over a failure, but can learn from it and make certain it doesn’t happen again.” She realized the answer she wanted.
“To make up for it, I’ll keep fighting. I can’t undo it, but I can try to stop it from happening again. No, I will stop it.”
“That’s the right answer,” the man said and disappeared. Kari suddenly realized what had happened. <That was a trial, but for some reason I forgot. Maybe our memories of starting get wiped out so we can’t fake anything.>
Well, at least she didn’t have to worry about failing due to test anxiety. _________________ Red Green's words of wisdom:

i really liked this chapter.at your 4 paragraph i think you did a mistake-What would Mom if she knew what I was doing- i think there's missing a word.
yeah i understand that,it happens to me on close to everything.i can't let a project on standby or let it drag for days as it will never be finished.my interest changes a lot _________________ don't mind me.I'm quite quiet.

Foreword: "i can't let a project on standby or let it drag for days as it will never be finished.my interest changes a lot"
Yeah that happens to me, but it gets worse as I start coming with other things I’d rather do and end up accomplishing nothing.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sora swerved around the raining lasers. She was slowly preparing a Blazing Wing, but had to keep moving. This needed perfect timing. Done. She stopped and flew in reverse. “Blazing Wing!” As she fired, the five robots shot by and once they stopped, the attack him them.
They managed to remain in the air but didn’t shoot. Instead, their bodies began to change and they came together with one splitting into two parts. Sora gasped when she saw the result. <It’s that robot that attacked me last time I was here!> “Who are you?!” she demanded.
“If I told you,” the robot said in a high, yet rough voice, “you would be paralyzed in fear and no fun to kill.” So, robots were capable of having issues it seemed.
“I doubt it. Tell me.”
“You will!” the robot snapped, “But maybe you can figure it out. I was created by Hexa and answer to Destral, the future ruler of the Digital and Human Worlds. Though I was originally a robot, I was temporarily transferred into the body of a virus digimon to slip in without Mikain noticing. My purpose was to draw out the two strongest Digidestined so we could draft them. Unfortunately, you interfered and destroyed that body! Destral no longer believes in me!
Now you know who I am.” Sora thought back.
“Nope,” she admitted, “Doesn’t ring a bell.” Though the robot was incapable of showing facial expressions, he was clearly ticked off.
“I just gave away everything!! How can you not remember?!”
“I beat a lot of virus digimon.”
“My five parts allowed me to digivolve!”
“Still don’t remember.” The robot gave a yell.
“You stupid bimbo!! I was Jetmon!!”
“Who?” The robot’s head twitched.
“Jetmon! The first virus digimon you faced!” Sora thought back. She suddenly remembered.
“Oh. You.”
“I waited all this time for that?!”
“Why am I supposed scared?” This was getting to be fun.
The robot pointed his arm at her. “Because I beat you!! You were helpless before my might!!”
“And then my speed was upgraded. You were my easiest opponent.”
“You have no heart!! Anyways, I‘m going to kill you and my name is now Jet.” Wow. Creative.
“Blazing Wing!” Sora didn’t want to waste time fighting this guy. Jet darted upwards.
“Jet Missile!” Same old attack. Sora flew up a bit and then bolted towards Jet as his missiles streaked underneath. She caught up and took a swipe, but Jet’s body broke into the five smaller parts and reassembled behind her. “Energy Pulse!” He spread out his arms and legs and a wave of energy blasted from his body forming a sphere around him. Sora found herself being shoved backwards by it and she crashed into a building.
<So he has some new tricks.>
“I have a move to counter everything you can do!” laughed Jet.
Sora charged at him again. He broke apart and she turned around. “Blazing Wing!”
“Energy Shield!” a blue energy shield appeared in front of Jet once he reformed and it swallowed Jet’s attack. Then it fired a blue beam that two fast for Sora to dodge and she slammed into another building.
Sora didn’t bother getting out of the crater in the wall she made. Jet would have to be caught by surprise with that shield. “Death Diver!” Blue energy surrounded Jet’s body and he swooped down on her.
She dove off her perch and swooped up intercepting his dive, but he broke apart again. Only this time, she was ready. Jet’s arms, legs, and head reassembled. “Why do feel so odd?” He looked at himself and yelped. “My torso! Where is it?!”
Sora held it up. “You mean this?”
“You wouldn’t!” Sora tossed it up and spiked it into the ground as hard as she could. Surprisingly, it held together. “That was just low!”
She launched herself at him and batted his head off. The arms and legs turned into their original laser cannon parts. <Looks like he’s trying to reform. I’d better finish him fast.>
She chased after the head which was still in its robot form. “You’re evil!” he shouted. Sora grabbed him and started to squeeze. “Let me go! This isn’t a fight! You call yourself a man?!” She tried not to laugh at the sheer idiocy of the question. It was embarrassing having trouble with this moron. “Jet Missile!” Wait, what?
She felt the missiles explode on her back, knocking her onto her stomach and causing her to drop Jet’s head. She got back up and saw Jet putting his head back on. “How could you do that to me?!”
“Very easily.”
“You’re a monster! Electronet!” He threw his hand out and a yellow net wrapped around Sora, shocking her. She cried out and Jet flew up to her. “What‘s the matter?! Too much pain to talk?! Who‘s da man now?!”
“Shut up,” she growled through clenched teeth.
“Make me.” He asked for it. She forced an arm through the energy net and smacked Jet hard enough to knock his head off again. The net disappeared as the body went to retrieve it. She used the chance to catch her breath.
Jet was stupid, but he did have a lot of weapons. Making him lose his temper helped, but it could also make him bring out something he may have been hiding for fear of causing too much collateral damage. <I just have keep watching his moves and wait for the right chance.>
Jetmon came back and pointed his hand at her again. “You’re a demon! But your tricks won‘t work on me anymore!” Yeah, right.
“You told me to shut you up.”
“Fine. Since you won’t fight fair-”
<Like you are?>
“-I’m outta here!” He took off.
<Not likely. I have to get now!> She chased after.
***
Tyris looked around grinning. He was in the main control room for Matrix’s command centre and there screens all over showing whatever he wanted. Below was the floor and the walls were dark so it appeared as if monitors were floating. The console that controlled everything was a cocoon that was linked his mind. Being in here made him feel like a god. He could control everything. Well, except for Hunter; that monster’s computer couldn’t be accessed for some reason. And the Viralmon would only go to the ordered locations, whether or not they attacked was up to them.
Okay, so he felt close to a god. Did Mikain feel this rush? He wasn’t convinced Mikain was dead. There were rumours about him. Rumours that he was immortal. Sure it seemed impossible, but it was best to make sure Matrix was secured before finding out the truth.
He switched one of the monitors to the three intruders who thought they had gotten in unnoticed. There was only two. Max and Jane. His former friends. How would they react knowing that he was there enemy? Would they be able to fight him? He’ll kill them long before they find anything out.
Now to find the other one. There she is. Fighting Jet. Jet seemed to be having trouble, but knowing him, it’s exaggerated. He’d make a great court jester.
Still maybe a Viralmon should be sent over to help. Jet was useful. Bad idea. Once Tyris had taken over and reactivated the Viramon factory, Lector had already moved the few completed ones. How’d he get them to listen to him, anyhow? Though production was going smoothly, not many were finished. He couldn’t risk any, not with Destral demanding them. <And I have to achieve total control. Overthrowing Destral will be easy with a few of these.>
Come to think of it, the Viralmon would end up destroying Jet. He was a clown, but a skilled fighter. So what if he botched an earlier mission? Whenever things got bad for him, second hidden personality that even he doesn’t know about would take over. This other personality was almost unbeatable. <Be careful Sora. You push him too far, you won’t know what hit you.>
Better keep an eye on Max and Jane instead. Destral was using the Hexa core to create all components for his robots, but it was in Matrix they were being constructed. This relied heavily on portals and the slightest disruption would halt production and make Destral cranky. Few things were worse than a cranky Destral.
<And if I don’t stay on Destral’s good side, I won’t get access to the Hexa core. That thing’s the source of that Imperialdramon’s power and what Mikain’s been lusting after. Of course, even Destral doesn’t know how to use it; creating robot parts the best he’s been able to do, but I’m sure I could do better. I just have to be accepted by it first, then I can overthrow Destral and rule all the worlds myself.> _________________ Red Green's words of wisdom:

I know I haven't updated this in a long time but I'm having trouble being motivated. I've thought about it and I've realized it's because I've had to cram so much into this part since I didn't think of it until now and some characters, especially Mikain and the Viralmon, haven't reached their potential. So I'm going to try and see if I can start over and spread things out better.
Sorry about cutting it out, but once I started realizing how much better it could be, I just couldn't get motivated anymore. Besides, I want to get back to the kinds of fights I was writing in Viral Strike. Those were fun. _________________ Red Green's words of wisdom:
