Yeah, the 'Meeegaa Maaan!' thing is the only thing that bothers me.
Well, as some suggested earlier somewhere, maybe VIZ will do what they did for Naruto: eventually, they might just keep the current 'opening theme' as the ending thing, and switch over to the original Japanese opening. Maybe even with subtitles too!
...Okay, subtitles might be a little too much hope, but I definately wanna hear the original opening. _________________ MegaMan Kilobit

As enjoyable as the opening is, I don't believe that would be a good idea. One thing, America's taste in opening music doesn't include those kind that sound cute and what THEY think doesn't fit with the genre, which is mostly action. Plus, this opening wouldn't make sense to some but not all viewers, as they lack real understanding. Finally, American media tries to censor such music due to Japan's somewhat enticing and popular entertainment, which we all enjoy so very much up to date. |

That, and little kids tend to get turned off by what they don't understand. That, and supervising parents wouldn't know what the song is saying either. For instance, this is how my parents used to think: "For all you know, they could be cursing your dead grandmother." (seriously, they said that).
I don't know if other parents think that, but I DO know Viz isn't willing to take that kind of risk.
Foreign music=turn off=no money=bad for business=production of cheaply and randomly tossed together American synth music.
Knowing that, Haly K, while I would LOVE to think that one day Viz will replace their theme song with something that actually resembles music, I highly doubt it will ever happen. As far as I can tell, MegaMan Star Force isn't moving past Toonami Jetstream any time soon, and therefore, won't have any real need for a new theme song. Plus, if they changed the music within the show, why leave the OP the same? _________________

And... no one here is aware that VIZ has subtitles for the current dub Naruto theme? As in when the song plays to start the show, there are little yellow letter at the bottom of the screen that tells you what they say? ( This is not just a thing with my TV; there actually ARE subtitles. )
'Course, even then, parents wouldn't like it... since aparently you guys are saying this like there's inappropriate material in the opening for Ryuusei, therefore if they were to put subtitles as they did for Naruto, it would be even WORSE for VIZ. Of course, that's just the vibe I'm getting from y'all right now. Feel free to correct me, I don't mind.
And, hey, what's wrong with hoping? At least it's fun to think about what might happen. And even if it never happens... hey, at least we thought of it before the company. _________________ MegaMan Kilobit

I'll stay what I said about it, but I'm saying that VIZ belives that Ryuusei no Rockman is an action anime. So, what better way to make an opening than with some mixed techno to create an action theme. Besides, I don't think it would fit the cool Toonami theme for teens/kids if they did put in a cute opening song, even with subtitles. |

If it's an action anime, they could at least make the BGM not suck D: Why was it changed? (Honestly, I don't see the point to it being changed in the respect to it being more "actiony") _________________ The time is come. Bid farewell to your bloodstained past.

definitely agree. I personally think zack sounds pretty weird in this dub. The others are ok. The songs should definitely stay the original way. and i hate the ending of the song. "meh ga man" at the very end. |

I know we already had this discussion some pages back, but since it keeps coming up: while there is electronica in the dub version opening, if you are objectively listening to the two intros, Heart Wave is the song that really should be considered techno, not the dub open. It has the more typical bouncy sound to it and is consistently electronically-based throughout.
The dub version uses other heavy sounding instruments for what I call the "epic" effect. You know, you hear that and you can imagine cheesy lyrics going, "This is the epic tale of Megaman..." over the drums. That part is what you can associate with an action show. It's more serious in tone. I'm sure with the show focusing on radio waves, that's solely the reason why it starts and ends with an electronic wavy sound, including our much hated "Meeegaamaaa~n." But as a whole, it's not techno. Totally not in comparison to Heart Wave.

As far as this statement, you started out on the right track in that when the show is aimed at kids, especially younger ones, they typically don't keep the original Japanese songs due to language issues. But if you are saying overall that foreign music is a risk, I think that's wrong. If you go through the anime that has aired on TV in the US, I think a good chunk of shows have kept their original openings/soundtracks. Granted most are Adult Swim shows, not the ones that air earlier in the day. But I wouldn't say overall it's considered bad for business at all. It's just not common for the typical kiddy shows. _________________ Avatar art thanks to toberboobap, animated gif thanks to Dr. Wily II

Well,it was good, but I didn't nearly enjoy the artwork/looks of the show as much as NT warrior. There isn't even shading on the character, like under the helmet and such.I also wonder why it's on cartoon network now...you would think how well NT went,WB would of took starforce...hmm....But don't flame me,I still like it!The voice acting was actually reasonable! _________________ I should polish my forhead so it shines like Yai's... >.> |

Ah, don't worry Kaizaku. You see, Kids' WB went what we like to call 'anit-anime' after the WB was changed to the CW. ( For some reason. I remember there was channel fusing, but that's about it. ) They got rid of their biggest money makers, Yu-Gi-Oh! and Pokemon, so it's more possible that they've gone anti-anime instead of just not wanting to keep NT Warrior. After all, Pokemon is still a big money maker here in the US, so why would they get rid of it? Anti-anime, I'm telling ya, but that's just me. Feel free to mindless flame me/argue to me about it.
And yeah, the voice acting IS reasonable... I've gotten used to Bud, although I wonder how they'll handle Cancer... Didn't he have a deep voice in the original? Would it be a good or bad thing if the dub gives him a cutesy VA? _________________ MegaMan Kilobit

Cancer has the deep voice, Cancer Bubble has that gravelly/high voice. I'm kinda more interested in what Gemini Spark will sound like though. The last six episodes have kinda turned me off when it comes to Cancer Bubble. Though 18 and 40 were quite good, and 41, to a lesser extent. _________________ ' I don't care if the buzz isn't real- I can roleplay being drunk!'

Well, some of us here like to watch raws of the episodes, meaning that they watch an episode in the original Japanese version. Therefore, they know what the characters sound like in Japan. ^_^
Anyways, back on topic; maybe they'll do something similar to the original? Give Cancer the deep voice and Cancer Bubble the cutesy voice like SpoutMan/AquaMan? Then again, that's asking a little too much. They'll most like just give cutes VAs to both of them. :/ _________________ MegaMan Kilobit

Good question. I really don't know. It may have something to do with the fact that Jetstream just put Dragonball Z on their episode list. _________________

That could be the case... I remember during the week they didn't put up episode 3 or 4, the first episode of One Piece was up. Is it necssary to take down a show when they put up a new one? _________________ MegaMan Kilobit

As this is online, and not channel TV, I don't really see why that would be a factor. Well, I'm no expert on uploading streams, but I'd bet uploading a bunch of episodes simultaniously cannot be good for the server.
I am kinda curious why they're being inconsistant though. I mean, it's not like real TV, where there are schedules and such. I wanna hear Gemini Spark!
@ the toonami 'cool' image. They have the Pokemon anime, which a single mention of it on the schoolgrounds of America will get you called a number of unmentionable words.
@ the opening discussion. Don't complain. I had the misfortune of hearing the DBZ 'music' on there. My ears would not stop bleeding. Yes, it'll be nice if the music actually fit the images, but it's nowhere near as awful as that crap. _________________ ' I don't care if the buzz isn't real- I can roleplay being drunk!'

OMG!!!
Episode 7 is now online!!!
Pat actually sounds a bit like Tsukasa (making for one very happy fangirl right here. Nice work Danielle!), but um...Mr. Shepar...sounds either like a hippie or a red neck. Or like a red-necked hippie. Still trying to figure that one out. xP
Oh...and I've done the math. If Viz signed on for 13 episodes of Star Force, that's 26 Japanese episodes...meaning that the series will cut off on Japanese episode 26, "the Man who Returned." Unless Viz wants to stick with Star Force. _________________
