Okay, so I picked up my copy from Gamestop not too long ago and I've only just gone through the first little bits of the game. It takes a little bit of getting used to, but I think ultimately, controlling almost all of the action via the stylus will make for very easy and smooth control. It's not something you're used to, so I suspect some people might have a harder time shifting their mindset from buttons and d-pads to purely stylus-controlled movement and actions.

I love the ability to draw on the maps to make notes. I would have liked that kind of thing in some of the other titles.

Anybody who was a fan of the Wind Waker style will love the feel to this game as well.

So what are some other opinions of the game early on? Keep the spoilers hidden if you want to talk about anything specific as you go through the game.

I haven't been reading up about PH, frankly, I'm not that interested. Or, I wasn't, until people kept telling me how awesome it is.

You said that if I were a WW fan, I would like this. Why would I? Is the Link in this game the same as WW? Is it a direct sequel?

It is both, Goten. It's the same Link, and it's definately a sequel. Cool

Although, I need to pick up my reservation over the weekend. >_>;

I just picked up my preordered copy today after class. And I've just finished up all my homework.

So I'm opening it right now.

I want it so much I could die.

No money though, so I'll have to wait a few days. Apparently it's the best DS game so far, it's going to give Pearl and JUS a run for their money hopefully.

Picked up my pre-order. Very fun so far. Music is great, but considering it's Zelda, it's to be expected.

And the comedy...I didn't play WW, but it's refreshing to see comedy in Zelda. (Considering the last Zelda game I played was Majora's Mask, and the most comedy in that was Skull Kid freaking out about Link waking up).

Loving this game so far. The stylus controls take a bit of getting used to, but I'm getting the hang of it. I can't wait to try out the multiplayer.

The controls are definitely something new to the Zelda series. Everything involves the touch screen including basic moving around (I'm still getting the hang of rolling, though).

The cutscenes are very impressive. Gamecube quality on a DS. (But I guess I shouldn't be too surprised if Lunar Knights is something to go on)

There is one thing that I'm trying to figure out. How do you block with the shield?

Same way you did in LttP. Just watch where the bullet is coming and the shield will protect you.

Well, I just beat the first stage last night...

The boomerang took a bit of getting used to...But I think I've got the hang of it now. As for combat, I figured that it sorta worked like Wind Waker (lol wait, I never played that. I just went by the battle cries), so I tried doing it like that, but it seemed like it worked the normal LttP/2D game way of spamming your sword

LoZ1? *shot*

Okay, I just started getting to the meatier parts of the sailing. Wow, this is really exciting...and I found a little trick to get a lot of rupees while sailing :D
Hm, the similarity of the theme of the ghost ship/northwestern sea's fog theme to Ganondorf's theme is....odd. I thought Ganondorf got stabbed in the face and turned to stone in WW o_o Could this mean something? As well, I've found some treasure maps and an uncharted island...well, I didn't REALLY find the island, a gossip stone told me where to go XD

Is it confusing to play this if you haven't played Wind Waker? My WW copy got stolen ages ago and I never got a chance to play it. n.n; but I'd really love a new portable game to play on my work breaks.

Not at all! I never played Wind Waker, and I'm having no problems with this game.

At the beginning there is a recap of the events that happen in Wind Waker (the recap is vague, but it's just basically saying how Link and Tetra met...With really cute drawings).

There's a wind waker joke if ya look in one of the areas, but other than that, there's not much relation to Wind Waker, aside from both revolving around sea travel.

It's not out here until Thursday. I've got my preorder at EB though, and I'll be picking up my free Tin with it too! ^_^ I've played WW so I don't think I'll get too confused on that front. It'll just be a matter of learning the controls...

And I'm glad to hear the comedy is still present in the game. WW definately had some moments! =P

I got this game. The stylus is working so much better than I thought. I think I'm liking it more than old method. My throws have never been so accurate. This game is also making me think that Wind Waker would make a great spin-off series.

Now that I've delved a bit deeper into the game, I'm still impressed with the game. I'm especially happy with the sailing portions of the game, which is something I wasn't fond of in Wind Waker.

And yes, the Wind Waker style humor is still there. It's really quite amusing at times.

Knowledge of Wind Waker might help you connect to this Link and Tetra a little more, but so far the story seems to be entirely distinct and the opening gives a brief summary of the events in Wind Waker well enough to get by.

I beat it today :D

Man, all the fights in this game are so friggin' epic. Way to go, Nintendo :D

As for what to do now? Why, treasure hunting of course! I still need to find three more hearts, more fish (they said something about a fish king, and there's an empty slot underneath Rusty Swordfish for me), and many more ship parts!

(And I still need to beat my high score again in the archery minigame).

Got it finally! ^_^ I've just finished the Wind Temple and am about halfway through the Ocean King's temple again...

I'm loving the game so far, and am quite pleased with how well it came out. I was a little worried about the experience being "less" because it was on a DS, but it's all good!

Now to get back to it... :D
