I felt like I was reading a movie script more than a piece of fiction. With the constant dialogue and lackluster detail to anything else, this entire thing just felt... drab.
A couple of the moves did stand out to me as somewhat clever, but lack of banter and the constant monotony of 'move-explain-effects' just killed any interest I had in the fic as a whole. I realize that as an amine about a card game, the bulk of time is spent explaining moves and effects, but the anime also takes the time to flesh out what the characters are feeling or thinking as they make their moves. In your fic, they might as well have been robots or computer programs dueling because that's about all the humanity that they showed.
I've never really seen GX or ever really followed Yu-Gi-Oh, so I'll leave critic about things like the character's character and card effects to those more qualified than myself.
Overall, it was alright... but that's about all that it was. _________________
