So yeah. I picked up ZX Advent today, and I gotta say, I'm loving the dubbing. Anyone else loving it/hating it/anything else?

The voices are ok, I can stand it a bit, but I don't feel the connection between the character and the voice actor like I did with the Japanese version. Also, the first animated cut with Ashe, they made subtitle errors. Model A sounds weird, like a 5 year old.

Megamerging? A-trans? Ugh! They horrible! Megamerging, I understand. But A-trans? Why it couldn't it be kept as Trans On. It sounds way better.

Now I gotta check out how they did Grey's voice.

I figured A trans made sense. Considering "Trans on" is a take off from "Rock on", Trans on wouldn't make that much sense since we're using mega merge...and considering it's Model A, it's not that big a deal ^^;

As near as I can tell, Co-op mode only extends to the minigames you unlock. You can't play through stages or through the main storyline in Co-op.

Model H looses so much of his punch in ZXA. He ruled in ZX... but now that his Charge Shot's been changed, I really don't see him as being the boss-smasher that he was in ZX. I haven't personally tested him against bosses yet, but that's just the way that it looks from my stand-point right now.

At least they didn't tie his Air Dashing skils into the BM Gauge... that would have been a disaster.

The voices are kinda "ugh" IMO. Not so much Ashe's, it's fairly ok. But Gray's... Good lord. UGH. The pseudoroids have really ugly voices and bad acting, and the sages sound bland. Mikael was so funny in the japanese version, he's so boring now... Not to mention Prometheus and Pandora. >_>

I'm yet to reach Vent nor Aile... we'll see. But I'm not expecting anything good...

The dialogue is pretty silly too. >_> So cheesy...

Edit: Reached Vent. His voice is actually pretty ('cept when he activates the biometals. But that's just bad acting >_>). Model X' is okay. Model Z is... bad.

I just beat Queenbee. So far I'm liking the dubbing. Sure, there are some spotty parts when it came to the acting, but that isn't enough to tarnish the whole thing. Way to go CoA!

Lessee, some thoughts...

Buckfire's probably gonna piss some people off due to the blatant Indian stereotype voice.

Prometheus lacks some of the craziness I was expecting, though hearing him go from being relatively calm to pissed in five seconds was done pretty well.

Rosepark is pure win. ''I'm willllting... willllllttttiiiinnnggg!!!''

The Small 4 are decent.

Evil Albert was good too. Can't wait til I hear DAN-000.

Queenbee's dialogue and battle shouts made me chuckle, since they sound so dirty. The fact that she has the typical seductress voice doesn't help either.

I can't wait to hear Condorock. He should be sweet.
About the Trans On to A Trans, I believe A Trans was what it was called in the X series, so there you go.

Evil Thomas? o_O I think you mean Evil Albert

Some extra thoughts. I actually like Mikhail's voice...

Condorock's voice IS awesome. Sadly, his translated name makes me chuckle....Vulturon....I refuse to call him that XD ((Pronounced VOLTRON!))

And yeah...Queenbee...oh god XDDDD they were MESSED UP.

Anywho, just beat Vent. His voice, at first, I felt, didn't fit. But then when it got to the cutscene, I was loving it. And then when I actually got the model, I knew, it was the correct voice. It sounds SO MUCH like the japanese one.

I can't enjoy these dubbed voices, I just can't. From a production stand-point, these are horrible. There is way too much ambient noise in the background, I can hear the editor's edit points, some of the mic. placement was way off, etc.

I wanted to throttle Capcom's audio tech when I heard Aile's voice clip. Whoever recorded the VA either didn't know what he was doing or didn't care. It sounds like someone just plugged a mic. into the computer, shoved the input down the VA's throat and said: "Go for it!"

Gar...
[/rant]

I'm wading through the eight repeat bosses right now. Model A's homing attack is right up my alley since I'm a sniper, not a Jedi; so abusing that attack is just pure fun for me.

Some of the bosses are a little annoying, but all in all it's good. Outside of forcing you to use certain forms at certain times (let's face it, you'd never use QueenBee if it weren't to move those capsules); the stages are alright, albeit a touch on the unfair side.

Now to just finish Grey's story and see how this whole fiasco ends.

And for some reason... I just can't sympathize with P&P. I know a lot of people do but... I just can't. o_o;

The background noise issue has been in the game in the Japanese version as well... VERY filtered voices, I don't know why. Sounded pretty bad. But least the voices and the acting was okay.

Granted, I've never edited anyone speaking Japanese so I don't know the way it's supposed to sound as well as I know the English language, but the Japanese voices from ZX never stood out to me as being as bad as the English ones in ZXA.

I need to go back and listen to ZX's VAs again since it has been a year and, hopefully, my editing skills have improved over that course of time; maybe they are as bad as this is and I just didn't pick up on it the first time around.

But the fact remains, the production of the ZXA voices is pretty shoddy. If I tried to submit something that was on the same par as this... I'd probably be in search of a new job.

Webb, think of how large this game is in comparision to ZX. It was obvious they'd have to get the sound quality down a bit. D: Stop complaining about such silly things.

Complain about how hard it is to kill Argoyle and Ugoyle at the same time for those goddamn medals instead.

I would assume the homing shot would be the ticket there. Haven't fought them yet, though.

Okay, I've beaten Aile, so now I have more voice commentary.

Aile...hmm...not the best. Acting could use some work. It sounds so... muffled, like the person was speaking into an echo chamber or something. Though, oddly enough, when she introduced Model X, her voice not only became much clearer, but also sounded almost completely different from before. It sounded much better. But then it went back to normal in the next text box.

Model X and Z pretty much sounded as I expected they would sound like in the English version. Z was decent, but I wish X could've sounded a bit closer to Takahiro Mizushima's portrayal. I loved his voice in the Zero drama tracks.

Condorock, er, Voltmon, er, Vulturon sounded way awesome, ya know what I mean, man? The way he totally sounded like the stereotypical rock stoner was pretty awesome man!

Aeolus was good too, though he was a pain to fight. ''Nonsense!''

Thetis kinda annoyed me voice-wise. Very hammy. I'm more used to the THEE-tis pronounciation than the FEH-TIS one. He was annoying too, swooping all over the place, when I only had three measly pillars to stand on!

I dunno, while the Small 4 were pretty simple as far as bosses in this game go, I find that they're not as fun to fight as the Guardians were.

the problem with that is that you can't really controly if the homing shot will hit them or their weak point DX. I finally got them once with Buckfire's charge shot since I just spammed Model P's kunai knives and kept switching to Model H to see if their health was equal...Though I think the Giga Crush will be the hardest since those are individual shots instead of one big bang.

Actually, I noticed that a LITTLE bit about Vent, at first his voice sounded like he was mumbling, but then it became much clearer during the cutscene and fight....and I don't think it switched back when it went to text box. Weird, huh?

Oh yeah, anyone catch the homages to the Green Biker Dude and (to a lesser extent) the Rainbow Devil?

Model A sounds like a 5 year old in the Japanese version, too. It just sounds weirder in English.

I was impressed by the voices since it's the most effort I've seen put into a DS game dubbing, but it could of been better. They all talked very slow and it made it sound awkward (I know there are translation reasons for this and timing, but that doesn't make it sound any less strange)

Anyone noticed that in the English version, the amount of spoken dialogue is inferior than the Japanese counterpart?

On my Jap game, I could've sworn everyone spoke much more.

True, they could've used more dialogue. I'd like to hear more of everyone.

I'm about half-way through the game myself, and the voices are more-or-less "meh". Could've been better, alot better in fact, but they're tolerable 90% of the time and it IS the most voice work I've seen for a DS game, so I guess I should be thankful for that. I just wish they could've given us an option to use the japanese voices instead; bad voice acting is so much more tolerable when you don't know what they're saying. XD
