Hiya! I'm back with new summary notes about the new episode I saw today! I'd be glad to share them with you. Corrections can be included in your posts, and if I find one I will edit this. So, now I present to you, as promised, Ryuusei no Rockman:Tribe 3- Bly's Attack.
*note: I won't use Bly's name until the part which said name is mentioned.
Scene starts outside of building Subaru met Orihime-san in episode 2. Everything seems peaceful until an explosion appears in front of said building. Dust clears, Rockman is struggling to get on his feet, questioning himself,"who is this guy!?" Warrock tells him to be on his guard and that the enemy is strong, which Rockman says that he already understands that. Scene shows foe up close, then closes on Orihime-san in window, who is obviously worried since she's biting her thumbnail (note: no lab coat).
Title Call: Burai no Shuugeki (Bly's Attack)
*TL note: don't get shuugeki (attack) confused with totsugeki (assault), as some translators have.
Back at the battle scene, Rockman gets up and activates a Long Sword card while the enemy readies his sword. Warrock tells him to get ready while the enemy charges right Rockman with his sword. Luckily, Rockman blocks it and holds out while said enemy pushes him, but it is short lived when his foe uses the same counter from last time to send Rockman flying into a wall. Rockman recovers but he only has a split second to realize that the enemy is in front of him. The enemy throws the weight of his sword towards Rockman. The hit connects and the dust clears only to reveal that Rockman avoided the attack with his Gatling card activated. He fires at his foe, but to no avail as the mysterious attacker somersaults and dodges the bullets with ease. Rockman is in disbelief. Now, the enemy counterattacks, charging at Rockman and slashing the Gatling's barrel tips, causing Warock to turn into his head again.
Orihime-san takes this time to search in her computer for data about him. After much digging, she finds an image of a stone carving. The design etched on the stone looks familiar to a certain person. That's right! It's the same design of the foe's chest.
On the field, again, the mysterious enemy walks slowly towards Rockman. More comments here about how strong this guy is and questions about who or what is he doing by Rockman and Warrock. Warrock asks himself (correct me if I'm wrong), "why is he here?" Rockman decides not to give up and activates his Jet Attack card. He charges at the attacker, but his foe scoffs and literally steps aside to dodge the attack. This goes on 'til the third time, when Rockman stops near the enemy, cursing (yes, really) over the fact that he can't hit him. Suddenly, he feels something and decides to look down only to find his opponent's right hand went through his stomach. The attacker can somehow phase his hand though people and/or objects. The foe demonstrates by using his phaseable arm to grab Rockman's head and throwing him into the ground. Warrock is baffled at what he just did, and now the attacker is charging his fist again.
Scene switches to Orihime-san, who tells Empty (the blue-cloaked assistant) to activate the 'Jamming Horuwo'. All of a sudden, three satelite dishes appear from the adjacent buildings. They each fire a white beam, paralyzing the attacker and causing him to struggle. Warrock finds this time to tell Rockman to fire at him. Rockman activates his Cannon card and at the foe. Unable to move, the shot connects and send the attacker flying into the wall. Having sustained damage, the enemy decides to retreat, smiling at Rockman. He transforms back into a now tired Hoshikawa Subaru, and now Orihime-san runs to him asking if he's alright. He says he's fine and glad she's ok as well, but he asks Orihime san about the dish array. She says it's a 'Jamming Horuwo', a device that can paralyze Radio Wave Humans (Denpa Ningen). She talks more about it and Mu until Subaru asks abuot the attacker. She's tells him that his name is Burai (Bly for English translation) and that he is also searching for the OOPARTs (Out Of Place ARTifacts). Subaru has his name memorized.
Back at Hoshikawa residence, it seems Orihime-san gave Subaru a ride home. She talks about the subject of Mu a little more, wondering if he found the explaination useful. She then leaves, leaving Subaru to think. Back in his room, Subaru converses with Warrock more on today's events. After a while, he decides to call Misora about it. She picks up, only to end up interupting Subaru's question by apologizing to him and saying that now isn't a good time to call. Now, she's complaining to the director about the clothes she's wearing (cross betwwen a geisha outfit and a house maid's), bungee jump, and... energy? She cuts off the call, leaving him to ask one other person in mind, Amachi.
Scene goes from outside of AMAKEN to inside it here. Subaru wants to know more about Dr.Orihime-san. He says that she is famous around the world. Utagai knows her too as she was known for creating the Radio Composer from RnR 26. Subaru is kinda surprised about that. Amachi says that she invented Denpa-related inventions as of now. Subaru takes note of her great position. Amachi is still wondering why she would be studying the Mu civilization and about the FM king's decision to bury Mu. Warrock interupts by asking about the OOPART in his body and if there's anything they can do about it. Amachi talks about it and about Denpa Henkan for a while, and then asks Subaru if he can examine Warrock now. Subaru lets him by placing his Star Carrier on the machine's reciever. Next, Warrock appears on a sort of examination bed. Subaru asks if he's ok. Warrock answers with a yes, and now somebody comes in. It's Luna, Gonta, and Kizamaro! They've noticed that he's here, and Utagai asks about the next experiment he's got for them. Gonta ask Subaru if he wants to join. Subaru gladly accepts and takes the now empty Star Carrier with him and his friends to the Utagai Area.
Gonta also comments on somethng here. Warrock wonder what they're going to do.
UTAGAI AREA, TENKAI!! Scene is now in 'Utagai Area' testing room, where yellow glowing spheres with smiley faces on them materialize. Kizamaro wants know what these are for. Utagai explains that he's testing out the new invention he made. He tells everyone to say, "MATERIALIZE, HAMMER!" Subaru, then Luna and co. say those words while holding up their carriers. Suddenly, green and yellow toy hammers materialize over their Star Carriers.
Subaru says that these are really hammers. Additionally, what looks like a score keeper for each person is being displayed. Now, Utagai explains that he wants them to hit the targets (the smiley spheres) in the room with the hammers, also mentioning about bonus points. With that, he wishes the best of luck to them. Subaru and Luna seemed pumped up now. As the countdown ends, everyone scrambles to hit the spheres. Subaru, gonta and Luna have no problem hitting the targets, but Kizamaro's height plays as a disadvantage here for he can barely reach the targets. After a while (by the way, Subaru's winning), Utagai announces that a special target is there. Everyone is determined to hit it. Subaru manages to get there first, but the hammer phases through the angry-faced, red sphere, causing him to fall on his face. Utagai says something is wrong and shuts down the Utagai Area. The game ends and the Star Carries revert to their original forms. He's disappointed that it didn't go off right.
Meanwhile, at night in a shiny city (weird), the scene shows a tall skyscraper. There, Bly is seen at the very top. Soon, he reverts back into his human form, bearing the same symbol on his chest and wearing an ancient attire. Back at Amaken, still at night, Amachi is still running tests on Warrock so he can find out what happened. A few seconds later, a warning appears on the monitor. Amachi's words,"T-This is..." Cliffhanger there.
Preview for episode 4: Warrock's connection to the Sword of Berserk is still a mystery. The preview's scenes revolve around Bly's human form plus Bly and Rockman fighting. Also, seems that missiles can't affect him in that episode. I wonder why? Will we see the Berserker here? All you questions will be answered next week! Next time on Ryuusei no Rockman: Hatsudou, Beruzeruku no Ken! Until then, ja-na! _________________ As a Deviant, I work alone on my projects.

I felt withdrawal for not hearing 'Meijin-san! Dimensional Area!' when those satellites started firing.
Overall it was a pretty good ep... Burai/Bly's legalized godmodding aside. Sure there was nothing overly jazzy, but the animation was still decent.
Yet another episode without stock footage for the Predation scenes. I wonder if those really have bitten the dust... Which I believe would be a good thing.
And don't think about it, guys. I already went through Misora's scene frame-by-frame with AnimGet. There's very little, if anything, that's Avatar-worthy in that short scene.
It was interesting to see Subaru's new interaction with Luna and co. But... after the events of Ryuusei it just felt out of place. So much character development was glossed over in the first season that... I dunno... it just doesn't feel right. _________________

As I said before, whoa, Nomoto got good.
First half: very good fight, especially since it was from Nomoto, known for his/her slideshow battles. Lots of Bly crotch and butts shots for the fangirls too it seems. He totally wants to be a DBZ character; I mean, he can shoot energy blasts, he has Vegeta's hair, and he's got the whole 'impale foe with your bare hand' thing goin' on as well. Though him using that to chuck Subaru into the wall was pretty cool.
I wonder if there was really a point to the whole whack a ball thing though, except maybe to show their 'unique' grasp of English. First it was 'ITEM CANNOT USE' from EXE, and now Luna's been renamed Runa. I also wonder how Empty can manipulate a keyboard (and possibly drive a car as well) when he has no hands.
Pretty good episode. If Nomoto keeps turning out episodes like this one and possibly the next, I'll have to revise my opinion of him/her. _________________ ' I don't care if the buzz isn't real- I can roleplay being drunk!'

Let me clarify something. Empty DOES have hands. Just look in episode 2 for more clarification ComicX6. _________________ As a Deviant, I work alone on my projects.

A good episode, apart from Bly's overpoweredness. But that is to be expected, after all. The fight was well done, smoother than I thought it would be.
The whack-a-face thing had me stumped though. What was the point of it? _________________

Now I said I need to quit talking about the animation before I see the HQ, but I think my hunch about this being a shared episode is still likely. To me, it seemed like the animation varied too much. There was stuff you could tell was Nomoto, but some of the Bly parts, that initial image of Misora, they just seemed to be so obviously not Nomoto, IMO. Maybe he did improve a bit, but I'm not sold it was all his doing.
Loved Bly's body-phasing hand of evil!
*12/5 EDIT* Better late than never...PANS! (Unable to do one. Thanks to the buildings staying stationary, but bubbles and background moving... :-\)

That was to experiment with a new feature for the Materialize function of the Star Carrier. Obviously, this was interesting because it didn't seem as boring as Kabuki play with an umbrella. _________________ As a Deviant, I work alone on my projects.

Ha ha. Kizamaro fails. You think he has something to do in the second game?
But Misora's outfit reminds me of Holland for some reason. Isn't that weird.
ha ha It was a pretty good episode. |

Ah. I watched the episode, so I didn't bother reading the summary. I'd rather wait for the translation, but thanks for the info. _________________

You guys are way too rough on Nomoto. It's possible that he's the weakest director of the bunch, but if the budget for animation wasn't very high and he had to animate the most episodes out of all the directors within a very small frame of time, it's no wonder the quality would suffer a bit. Seeing as Tribe's opening is pretty beefy, I'm guessing they have more money going around, and Nomoto can afford to do a better job. And it's a team of people, not just one person, so there's bound to be some variation. Or maybe I'm just talking out of my ass - I have no idea. Just my two cents. |

Well, here's my beef with Nomoto.
1. I do not like the squished style. I understand, however, that that's his/her art style, and there's nothing wrong with drawing like that. I just don't care for it.
2. S/he is overused. Literally half the episodes in Ryuusei are done by him/her, and a good chunk of Stream is done with the general squished style. When it comes to artwork, Stream isn't the best of the bunch.
3. This is probably my biggest gripe. Nomoto is perfectly capable of doing good episodes. Look at Ryuusei 1, 2, 40, and 49. It's just that for every episode like that, there seem to be two Beast 7's, Ryuusei 21's, and Ryuusei 45's. This is a shonen series, fights are a big part of it, so when I see a slideshow battle like in Ryuusei 21, it's annoying. It's boring. To the viewer, it looks lazy. I realize that panning has been used since way back in EXE, but it got a lot more prevelent in Axess, and even moreso in Stream and Beast. I understand that it's probably not the director's choice what episode they work on, but the other directors like Takahashi and Shimizu appear to be able to do a lot more with the material than Nomoto.
That being said, I do hope that Tribe's OP and this episode means that they've got more dough to work with, and thus can have better animation. If Nomoto can keep up with work like we saw in this episode, that'll be great, but my current apprehension towards him/her comes from past experience. _________________ ' I don't care if the buzz isn't real- I can roleplay being drunk!'

Why do I get the feeling that this episode just advertised a potential mini-game for RnR2? _________________
