there is too many locked topics in the board? isn't it just better to delete them and send a message to the thread starter to why their thread has been deleted? oh wait that is too much work isn't it.
well i am sure this thread is in great possibility of being locked down to. so i am gonna make a request. is no one at all reading this i ask for deletion instead of lockdown and can someone please delete my rockman zero thread i started in the game forum please.

The problem with deleting threads is that you then no longer have an example of what shouldn't be allowed on the forums. Plus, even if the topic maker knows their mistake, the rest of the people who posted in that topic may like to know as well, and I doubt the admin have time to be hunting down every one of them. :P

Thus why the person who locks them usually leaves one last message before doing so (Usually). |

We leave locked threads there for a while to let the original poster as well as the general populace see the kind of things we do not allow here. Most of the time, we do delete them after people have a chance to see them. _________________ (\ ºvº\ (\

Why don't you just have a "trash Bag" sect so you can put the locked topics there?
The description should be "And this is what you should not do on the forums..." _________________

Well if a spammer made it we'd be giving them exactly what they wanted, attention. _________________

Too true, too true.
The spammer will just make more spam till they think they are the best spammer on the Net.
So best to just lock them. Or.... if that person ONLY wants attention, ban the fools.

Well, as long as they don't overrun the server, they'll be fine. At least they will be there to show the more intelligent users what not to post. _________________ Today, these three players are after Big Bucks! Besides showing users what not to do, some locked topics are pretty funny . _________________ 98% of all teenagers have injected a mixture of morphine and crab urine into their eyeballs, if you're one of the 2% who gives a fig about these stupid made-up statistic messages, copy and paste this into your sig. |

There is a clean up that goes on also at times by some administrators and moderators to delete the really really old locked threads. I did this on the Spriters Lab section a number of times, often cutting off a page of locked threads each time I do. That is why some people see their post counts go up and down sometimes also. =P But this is a new forum, remade after the hack attack, and what few locked topics I think can sit till such a time as there is a small clean up. Probly in several months. |
