Title Screen: Sword of Trials
Well, Berserker Rockman's sword continues to go berserk. It drags him forward (luckily Phantom Black sidesteps), through the side of the pyramid and onto the sand outside. It drags him on a path towards the Sphynix, but Subaru manages to avoid any damage by cancelling out the denpa henkan. Subaru's safe, but Warrock appears to be having some trouble.
Back at AMAKEN, Amachi reviews the scan of Warrock he did several episodes ago. He contacts Subaru. Dialogue heavy scene follows, but I guess the Sword of Berserk has intigrated itself with Warrock. Extraction seems to be impossible. Then a beam of purple light appears at the tip of one of the pyramids. Bly has arrived.
He wastes no time, throwing a volley of energy punches down, sending tourists scattering. Subaru transforms, leading into another very fluid sequence of Bly throwing punches and kicks at him, even swinging him into the ground. Subaru gets off a buster shot, but it just passes through. Bly vanishes, reappears behind him, impales him with his arm, and finally chucks him into the pyramid.
You haven't forgotten Phantom Black, have you? He's still combing the interior of the pyramid. He makes another comment about 'Noparts' when Subaru is sent flying through a wall in front of him. Phantom Black decides to follow Bly. Maybe he'll find the Ooparts that way. A wall damaged by Bly's gatling fist attack crumbles, revealing a secret passageway. Bingo.
Subaru reappears outside, panting. Warrock wants to use the Sword of Berserk, but Subaru doesn't. Bly uses the Stealth Laser battlecard (Subaru says it's one at least), to summon a steath bomber looking virus. It fires some lasers into the pyramid wall, which then come back out of the wall and nails him from behind. Subaru's down.
Mind trip time! Subaru awakens in a desert. Before him is a gigantic Sword of Berserk stuck into the ground! Oh yeah, awesome music here. An emblem showing the Sword icon appears in the sky, then shows what's going on in reality. Subaru is still out cold, so Warrock is tugging the limp body around by the arm. Bly uses the Mad Vulcan battlecard on them, and despite Warrocks attempts to drag Subaru out of the way, they go down. ''WARRROOOOOOCKKK!!'' the boy screams.
The giant Sword begins to glow an orange color, and a normal sized Sword appears at Subaru's feet, also stuck in the ground. He grabs it, looks up at the giant Sword, nods, and starts pulling it. Bly walks up to Warrock's head and pulls out his own sword. With a scream of effort, Subaru finally yanks the thing out.
Back in the real world, Subaru's body is encased with an orange light. Whne it fades, he's on his feet, and in the Berserker Rockman form. Bly shoots two sonicbooms at him to no effect. The two square off, and strike. Subaru collapses, but the blade of Bly's sword lands in the sand a distance away. Bly marvels at the power, and then gets drilled with an electric sonicboom. He waves out.
Phantom Black is now laughing like the awesome fellow he is. The Ooparts will finally be his! He runs through the tunnel's exit... Into thin air! That was just an exit from the pyramid! After crashing into the sand below, he looks up to see Berserker Rockman. Subaru thanks him for doing his work for him, ie: searching the pyramid, leaving Phantom Black at a loss for words. He gets up, sees the sword in Subaru's hand, when swishes his cape and waves out with a 'ciao'.
At AMAKEN, Warrock's going under another scan, but everything seems to have calmed down. All's cool.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Preview: Gori spys something through his hi-tech binoculars, one of the fem-bots speak, Kizamaro recites something, the shadow of Brachio looms, Brachio Wave scares the shit out of a submarine, Yeti Blizzard gets attacked by a Tidal Wave, and Brachio Wave goes about looking odd.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pretty decent episode I thought. The best part was that there weren't any messed up faces like there normally are in Nomoto eps. Some neat music too, and we learn that Bly can use battlecards. Warrock dragging the unconscious Subaru around looked neat too. In short, good episode, good art, good animation.
As for next episode, I can't tell who's doing the art, but it looked decent. Wonder how a battle against Brachio Wave would be done? _________________ ' I don't care if the buzz isn't real- I can roleplay being drunk!'

Actually, I'm fairly sure Subaru said "gokurousama" aka, thanks for your efforts. Given that Phantom Black stated right after crashing that there were no parts there, sparing Subaru the trouble of looking around. |

I think that the inability to extract the sword was confirmed back in episode 4. I think what Amachi-san was telling Subaru was that WarRock's pain was caused by the effects of the Sword's berserk state. At the end of the episode, Amachi-san confirmed that the sword had "calmed down" so to speak.
On another note, next episode should be interesting: the legend of the Loch Ness monster is one of my favorites.
Fun fact: "Brachio" translates as "arm" from Latin. So Brachio Wave means "Arm Wave." xD _________________

Brachio Wave is a play on Brachio Saurus. Only this isn't a saurus, but a wave. <.< _________________ SPOILER:

By the power of Greyskull!!! *Subaru becomes He-Man*
Eh, a few times it seemed to me that again Nomoto parts stood out like a sore thumb, while somebody else probably did other parts. Subaru's face in Berserker form looked off to me around 7:45 and then the Bly lunging attack art at 7:55 looked like a totally different style, as an example. There were a few instances where Bly's style is the better quality, while others have more of Nomoto's usual quirks. Still better than last season's Nomoto episodes, but I'm not sold that it's all his improvement. And it's a Nomoto episode again next week, FYI.
I totally loved PB's maniacal laugh and comical exit out of the pyramid. And some of the new music was very well done. It fit the subconscious world scene nicely. Overall, pretty good episode. Just could have used a little more Phantom Black rather than more Bly fighting. And maybe answering if there actually were NOPARTS in the pyramid, rather than just using it as a change in scenery.
*12/29 EDIT* PANS! @_O Two variations of a Bly just because.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who was reminded of that.
I dunno about that part of WarRock draggin Subaru around. We've seen it lots in the beginning of Ryuusei no Rockman, I just reminded about the first Gemini Spark battle though. How come he didn't drag him around in that part? It looked kinda funny and showed that he cared for Subaru in the end.
Alllllso. If I get the right idea... basically, Bly wants to chop off one of Subaru's hands rather than forcing Rockman out of Denpa Henkan and then get the Oopart from WarRock's body? _________________ SPOILER:

Another enjoyable and well done episode. The art was, apart from a few spots, very good and detailed. The several expressions of Phantom Black at the end for example. Bly makes another appearance in a nice fight scene. Yet, at the end, he is really, no, he is absolutely no match for Berserker.
I really hope, he or someone else will be able to become stronger because at this point, Berserker is superior. I was quite shocked to see how easily Bly was forced to retreat, I had hoped to see a bit more resistance out of him. With this power, Rockman wouldn't even need the other Ooparts. I really hope this season won't follow the same path as Starforce. In that season only Andromeda proved capable of opposing and resisting Rockman's transformations, I really hope we won't have to wait until the final episode to see this happen again. Although I start to like the Berserker form, we need someone who at least is a match for this power.
Other then that, a very nice episode, and I loved the scenes with Phantom Black at the end. Loved the picture of Rockman and the setting sun behind him as well. _________________ This great avatar is made by Synchro-kun. Thank you! |

Finally saw the episode in it's entirety...
Sheesh, this entire episode was all over the place with damage ratios. Subaru took four mini-laser shots to the back and all of a sudden he's down for the count? And Thunder Berzerker's first activation took place when Bly was about to whack WarRock in the head... now their ability to control it occurs in like manor...
Outside of that, it was a decent ep. Bly felt slightly out of place with his sudden appearance (I would have preferred more Phantom Black) but it was still good. Bly's use of Battle Cards was a nice touch, although I didn't exactly care for his selection of Cards. The spy-plane worked well enough, even if it was overpowered, so I guess I can't complain.
Quote: | Although I start to like the Berserker form, we need someone who at least is a match for this power. |
This company hasn't really proven itself to handle the transformations that well. Either Bly's going to get an upgrade before long or we're going to be in for 45 more eps of Duex ex Mechania. I'm personally leaning towards the upgrade since Bly has slowly but surely been expanding his repitoire, and while he's trying WAAAAY too hard to be cool, he's also shown that he's somewhat rational... so it shouldn't be that hard for him to realize that he needs something to even the odds.
Or, like was discussed earlier, the anime could go the EXE manga route and just let Bly have an OOPart. That could be fun.
BTW, Rock Miyabi, if you go back to episode 4 again, you'll see about the same thing. The scenes where Bly kicks Cancer into oblivion and then that over-the-shoulder shot of him crunching down on WarRock are vastly different from the rest of the art.
Frankly, I've been wondering if Nao or (after seeing this episode) Shimizu hasn't been collaborating with Namoto in these recent episodes. Some of the camera scrolling reminds me of Nao's episode (plus, he's still on staff as prop director), and Thunder Berzerker's second appearance was really reminiscent of the way he drew Ice Pegasus and Green Dragon. However, the teleportation/pulse animation from this episode was done exactly like it was in 55, when Shimizu was at the helm... so... yeah... _________________

The plane is Stealth Laser, an Electric Card and it paralyses the opponent so it may have something to do with that. Otherwise I put it down to dramatic effect. _________________

For the sake of argument, I agree with Nenji. Although, I think it might've been nice if they added some electic arcs or something over Subaru's body to make it look, you know, paralyzed.

I also had watched the episode. It's so interesting
(BURAI!!!! I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!!XDDDDDD)
Brachio Wave? Hm... in anatomy, Brachio means upper arms, or precisely from Acromnion until Fossa Cubiti
Try not to make Anatomy class here, hehehe...
Anyway, this anime is way more interesting at this starting point. Don't know what comes next
About Berserk, i think Rockman's body doesn't symbolize any electrical type.
Some electric shorts around Rockman's body while he is in Berserk Thunder, may be a good additionals
Don't forget to avoid the Green Shinobi and Wood Virus to stay intact with the Berserk Thunder _________________ Your last word will become the word that will always be remembered by anybody |
