I saw this thread on a SatAM forum and liked the topic enough to replicate it.

So... what was the road you took to become a fan of EXE? When did you achieve 'nerdvana' and move from 'just watching the show/played the games' to hard-core 'I dream of this series' fandom?

I had a fledgling interest in 'MegaMan' back when the first Mega Shows aired. Something about the series just tugged at me and really drew me into it. I fiddled with MegaMan 1 (on a borrowed console, a used Gameboy Color was the first system I ever owned; the second would have been a GC.) for a while and then let my interest drop by the wayside.

Then a few years later, I saw a commercial for NT:Warrior. I caught the first episode and felt that fledgling interest grow. But it wasn't until 'Street Fight' aired that I became a fan of the anime. I hadn't watched a lot of TV (still don't) and hadn't played any of the games yet, so when I saw the cliche Program Advance... it was the most magical moment I'd ever experienced with a show. I resonated with it, and loved it. But when WB summarilly yanked it off their schedule, I fell away from it.

Then it came back. And the moment the N1 fight concluded with Mega's deletion. I was hooked. The moment was so unexpected and shocking that it stunned me right into fandom. As soon as the season concluded, I wrote up my first fanfic (I still shudder at how bad it was when I go back and look at it. XD) and began scouring the internet for more information...

And what a 'fun' time that was. The anime was concluding the Dark Blues arc and here I was stuck on the dub. It was a fun time, filled with confusion and unintentional copycating. Someone at FF.net pointed me to REO so I could get myself straightened out... and the rest was history.

The first game I played was Extreme, way back in the 90s. I later recall seeing the commercials for NT Warrior on WB. At the time, I knew what Megaman was, but that was about it. I thought, 'Huh, so he isn't a robot now, huh.'' I saw a few of the episodes, I slowly got into them. Then, something changed.

At Blockbuster sometime in late 2003 I rented Battle Network 3. ''Huh, there's a game, huh.'' I said to myself.I only got up to the Metalman fight in the N1, and had my Navi Customizer bugged like heck. I still found it fun. Later, the store game was replaced with BN2, but the save system was glitched.

Middle of 2004 I finally bought BN3 (for 13 bucks. I felt proud of myself). Later, I purchased BN4, then BN2.

Beginning of June 2005 I was reading stuff on the PMM forums. In one topic, someone was looking for anime screencaps, and someone pointed them here. Suddenly, a whole new realm of the anime, Axess and Stream, had been opened up to me. After reading some of the episode summaries, I discovered the forum, and here I am, two years later, no longer the n00b I once was.

I wouldn't quite say that I dream of the series, but EXE did introduce me to the franchise, so it'll always be a special game series to me. Whether I'll still be a fan in ten years, I don't know. But I will certainly remember it when I look back on my childhood.

Megaman inspiration? I was about eight years old. The show (American version) got me into it a little, but my aunt who works in Japan actually gave me the real inspiration to play and watch. It was confusing at first, but I got the hang of playing Mega Man X5, the present she got me, quickly.

From there on, I played the X series games 4-6. Then, I got a Megaman 8 game to see the difference. Too bad I could find only one.

A few years later, I got a BN3 series game and I got hooked on fast. From there on, I collected gamesrelated to the series. About that same time, I got a Megaman Zero game from a local game store.

Once more, I got more games starting from ZX to Star Force after I got a DS. This proved to be the best system I got so far. Man, I can't believe my game collection ad I'm only seventeen.

When I was a small child, I had watched the Ruby Spears cartoon quite often, and my neighbor had all the action figures...I loved it.

One day, we went to Toys R Us and I got Mega Man 6 on the NES, I loved it so much, I remember the first boss I fought was Yamato Man, but the first Robot Master I drew was Wind Man.

Through out my life, it was always a tie between Sonic and Rockman for my #2 favorite. Mario was and always will be #1. It always flipped between the two. One week I liked Sonic more, then another I liked Rockman more. Then Sonic started sucking and I stuck with Rockman.

Oh...EXE? Well, I was on an Animal Crossing forum, and I saw a screenshot in someone's signature, so I asked what it was and where they got it. I was directed here...and my first Game was EXE2.

Huh...

I always had an interest in Megaman, but...(don't kill me) the thing that got me hooked on Megaman was the sprite comic Bob and George.

Seriously. Don't ask how that happened.

After that, I started trying the games, and the first I started and played to the end was Megaman Zero 2.

After that, I played Z1, and it was around that time that certain events resulted in me joining Exehq where I started trying the EXE games. I liked them, they were alright. But I still like X/Zero/ZX best D:

Specifically into EXE?

I remember... I used to watch the old Mega Man tv show. We had a copy of the original X game and my brother would play it all the time. Then when we moved, he got a copy of X4... But he lent it to a friend who never returned it. So when I went hunting for Kirby games, he bought another copy of X4 and I was just so into the Mega Man series again that I went online and did some research into the story. I got a copy of Battle Network *COUGHCOUGH* and then just four years ago, around this day, I found out that EXE had an anime, and well...

Here I am.

I played BN 1, 2 and 3 on the computer when my father bought the CD. Since it's on the comp, I couldn't save it so I never really got that far. Then (after a few years) I got BN5 for nintendo DS and I got stuck to it. Then I started searching for the anime, then on to the mangas....

now I'm crazy about it Laughing

EXE, eh?

I saw the first 15 eps of the anime that AnimeHaven had subtitled, on a friend's recommendation. I got really into it and started looking into helping out AH with their EXE fansubbing project because their group had gone through a nasty split and lost their translators and editors. I wanted to see where the storyline would go without watching the raws, and my friend said the Battle Network series was great, plus I'd been a fan of the Classic series way back when, so I picked up Battle Network 1. The rest was history.

EXE really got me back into gaming. Prior to it, the last system I'd consistantly played was the SNES.

I'm afraid my first experience with Mega Man was far too long ago to remember. MM3 was the first one we owned, but I believe we'd rented MM2 before that, back when it first came out.

Heeeeh? Rockman no omoide desuka?

Well, the very first glance of me and Rockman is when i and my brother played Rockman X4 and tried to complete it. Of course by shifting on playing since that game is 1 player only
That was back around 1998 or 1999 or so, kinda forget

Then, we played through to X5, then, at X6, we stopped. Why? Since Zero is unplayable from the beginning. While we were almost using Zero on all of the mission
Then, i decided to take a look to another game, and Rockman is forgotten,
i threw all of his memory into a dark space in my memory

But, one day at 2003, i read a game magazine. There was an info/article about Rockman.EXE. It was stated Megaman Battle Network, since the magazine was mainly using US version references
Then, i say in my mind. "Oh, that blue robot has changed on the look, eh? I'll take a look of this if i managed to find some of the info."

After some time passed since then, i somehow forgot about the existence of EXE since there were no info about it at all, and i didn't know anything.

But, at 2004 or so, when i watched TV on Sunday, i found the Rockman.EXE Anime aired, right after my favorite Anime. I decided to watch it
But, once again, i didn't know about anything of it, and all that i have is just memory of watching it on TV and a sheet of article about it.
I turned out to forgot about EXE again.

Then, everytime, i had the time to watch it, i tried my best to watch it, but no luck, since i always turned off the TV after i watched my favorite anime.

At 2005, when i gone for shopping at a game center by myself. I took a glance on Rockman X8
I said to myself, "Wha? The Blue Robot is on? I should try this thing."
I bought for the PC version of it
I played it, and i felt that my memories of Rockman is regaining

Then, one day again, on 2006, i went shopping again on a game center. This time, i went for the PC mini game CDs.
And i found Rockman.EXE there, in one of the GBA games. I then quickly bought that CD and played it when my laptop turned on.

Since then, i have become a new fan of it. And i become more addicted when my brother, who played X4 with me on past time, gave me some more ROMs of Rockman.EXE games.

Now, i turned out to be like this, a new fan of Rockman
Rockman is a memorial thing to me, but i think that memorial things could be a great and pleasuring things, since it feels like, searching into your own heart, try to find a place where a piece of certain thing was ever planted in the deepest room of your heart, and you try to pair it with something that is resonating to that piece.

Sorry, too much talk

Well, it started when I watched the Rockman EXE original series a couple years ago. It was a different dub from the American one, so the opening and all was intact. The plot was great, with the Program Advances, Rockman's deletion and all, and combo'ed with the catchy opening I got a hooked on the anime series. Then everything else fell into place when my friend asked me to get the mp3 for the EXE opening, and I found the site... And I got into the games when my friend introduced me to Battle Network 2.

I first played EXE in order to fit in with a group of people at school. Now I have a habit of once I get into liking a fad, ie a game, I want see stuff associated with it. Case in poitn, Pokemon. So I spent a day looking up MegaMan sites

I found nothing.

One search however said that MegaMan AKA Rockman. So I looked that up and found this site.

I was introduced to EXE/BN the worst possible way: NT Warrior. I originally thought it was just a new anime with Rockman/Megaman in it with a new design and idea/concept, until i saw the games in store and i was introduced to the game after buying a GBA and a couple of the games after a friend gave me a "forbidden program", (which ive long since gotten rid of), and have been playing EXE ever since...... and still wishing it was going on.

well, i got into MegaMan X when i was about 13 or so, playing it on the Snes9x emulator (my parents didn't let me get the system T_T). then, one day i was talking with this kid who lived on my street and he asked me what GBA games i had and if i wanted to trade for any of his. i gave him my Mario Kart (bored with it) and he suggested that i try his MMBN1 because he knew i liked playing MegaMan X. well ... needless to say, he didn't get his game back (not that he asked for it back anyway). i remember beating that game on Christmas too, that's kind of weird. a couple years later i heard about MMBN3 and i thought to myself, "When did MMBN2 come out?" so i played the rom and then went out to buy MMBN3. after that came MMBN4 and i went back to buy MMBN2. and i've bought MMBN5, MMBN5 DS:TL (that's a lot of abbreviating), and MMBN6. oh yeah, BattleChip Challenge as well. i got into the anime by reading threads on REO. i forget when i found REO but i think it was when i was on PMM, looking at the affiliates list.

How I became so obsesed with Rockman.exe?

Well, when I was probably 9/10 years old I saw the commercial for the Megaman battle network game. I was only half interested at the time because I knew I would never play the game since my parents didn't allow me at the time.
When the TV show came out...I seriously loved it to death, I really don't know why I start to love it so much. You should of seen me jump on the couch everyday waiting for the next episode to air. And then afterwards thanks to the almighty google, I found REO and learned the true art of the japanese version of Megaman...Rockman.exe after that, I started to get the BN games draw more and more of the characters and now even today, I'm still high on Rockman.exe

Always liked MegaMan. I bought my GBA specifically for Battle Network 1. I liked it. Then I saw NT Warrior, and I liked it a lot. Then I saw Rockman EXE and I loved it. Then I saw Rockman EXE Axess and devoted my very existence to worshipping everything about it.

I've been a fan of the 'ancient' Megaman ever since we got a NES, which is about 17 years ago when I was 4.

But R.EXE is a different story. I first got to know R.EXE through the Dutch dubbed episodes that were broadcasted on Jetix here in Holland. I thought the series wasn't THAT great because of poor voice acting and a rather vague story. (at least I thought it was vague back then)

Then about a year back, my sweetie Ms. Kitty really got me into R.EXE by beginning to talk and draw artwork of Laika. After RP'ing and talking some more, I got into it too. Then it sprung over onto Charlie, then onto Dingo. Began watching the Japanese episodes, playing Battle Network, read manga bits and yes... so began a rather elaborate fandom.

:3

I say this every time the question comes up: I've literally been a Mega Man fan all my life <3 Some of my early memories involve breaking out of my crib to watch my brother play the games, heee~

I was submerged in the Megaman fandom and I had heard that they were coming out with a new game called Rockman.EXE. Er... well, I got into it by proxy. ^___^
