Tribe 9 (Briny, Prehistoric Spoilers)

The creepy music from last week (two, actually) plays as Amachi sets things up for us. In Dossie Bay, a lake in Amerrope, there have been sitings of a large, mysterious creature. This creature bears an uncanny resemblence to the real-world Loch Ness Monster. It has been dubbed 'Dossie.'

At the lake itself, we find Gori Monjirou and his fem-bots. Yeti reminds him that they're there for an Oopart. The mob boss smirks, ready to begin his plan.

A huge number of tourists are on their way to the lake, creating a massive backup in traffic. Inside the CMM newsvan (clever), Kyuu Demegawa is getting real impatient. Heh, he looks like he's ready to go on a safari.

At Kodama's school, Kizamaro is all sparkly-eyed over a magazine article featuring Dossie. Luna and Gonta don't share his enthusism though, so he goes to Subaru for help, who isn't too excited either, but at least he reads it. After the others leave, Warrock comments about how something like this is just what Orihime was talking about back at Densan University (Yes, Densan still exists), just like those 'ufoes' (UFOs, of course).

Back over to Amerrope, where Kyuu has finally gotten to the lake. Subaru is there too along with a large crowd of onlookers. Gori suddenly interupts the broadcast, and the newsanchor and the mob boss get into an arguement over if Dossie really exists or not. Subaru remembers the business card he found in Himanara. The one that said 'Monji.'

Anyway, some more back and forth between Gori and Kyuu, ending with Gori leaving with his head held high. He gets a call from one of the fem-bots. A submarine has been prepared.

Kyuu continues his broadcast on the lake itself, but he's separated from his cameramen when the waves get choppy. Then, a massive creature appears from the mist: Brachio, the real identity of Dossie. Kyuu screams and tries to escape, apologizing all the way, but the thing catches up to him...

Gori makes his merry way underneath the surface in the sub, and collides with something large. It's Dossie v2, aka Brachio Wave. The beast easily heaves the sub out of the water and onto the shore. Gori transforms into Yeti Blizzard and unleases Yukidama Fall, which does nothing, as Brachio Wave has dived beneath the surface. The ape runs out into the shallows, only to be hit by Aqua Fang...I think. Doesn't sound like any of his other moves. Anyway, Yeti Blizzard responds with Big Stamp, then gets forced back into his human form by Gekiryuu Wave. Brachio Wave tells Gori to shut up and goes about his way.

Which, of course, causes a huge panic. Subaru transforms and tells 'Dossie-san' to stop attacking the people. The pleilosaur says that he isn't Dossie, he's Brachio Wave! And hits Suabru with his electric breath attack. Finished with him, he goes on his way again. Kyuu Demegawa reappears on his raft.

Next day there's a celebration of some sort for the beast, who's finally shown himself. The banners read 'Dossy'... Go figure. Subaru is walking around Donbura, taking in the sights, when he runs into Misora, of all people. She's in a huff too, probably 'cause Subaru came out here without telling her.

Gori meanwhile is still fuming about the events of the previous day. He gets a call of some sort, nods, then sneers. Now what could he be up to?

I saw something I'd never thought I'd ever see in an Adachi episode: a still frame. While the art was good, the battle animation, if you want to call those two scrimiges battles, were not Adachi quality. There were both largely like the Yeti Blizzard fight back in Tribe 6. Misora popping up at the end was kinda random, so the pacing could've been better. I'd rate this ep as 'average.' Let's hope there's the usual Adachi magic next ep.

If Brachio was smaller, like, dog or plush sized, it would actually be kinda...cute. It forcibly merging with Kyuu was kinda...odd.

Agreed. Art quality was pretty. But the poor fight was odd.

This eppy itselg though was kinda... weird. Like "why was it there in the first place"? Nothing really happened. Even in a filler something random happens, but here just -nothing-. Kinda boring introduction episode.

I don't understand why Brachio is so large...he's the same size as any other UMA or FM or whatever you want to compare them to. Either way, he's not gigantic in the game.

Uh, because he's a dino/lochness combo creature who should be larger than the rest. And if he is normal size in the game, it probably has just as much to do with keeping the sprites managable. Or somebody just has poor taste in proper proportions.

Or because out of water, he'd be too cute all tiny like that, so he needed to be more menacing!

*1/12 EDIT* PANS!! (1 more to attempt, as I hope to get that and those I skipped from Ep. 7 done tonight. Once these sentences are erased, I'm finally really caught up. Or they couldn't be done at all. The one numbered "16" is pretty faked with how the orange aura kept shrinking, but it looks decent.)

I think this is the first time I've seen Kizamaro this CUTE! Since when did Adachi ever do 'kawaii' shots like this? The episode was strange, Gori's appearance here confuses me to no end. The battle, though, was nicely done. On a side note, Meiru's inside Misora!! (my exaggerated, screwball opinion) WTH...
