The 2008 Valentine's Day Fanart Contest!

Sorry for the slight delay everyone, but the votes have been tabulated and we have some winners!

I want to thank the 10 people who did enter this year. You worried me with all the later entries, but at least we broke double digits. Down from last year, which seems really odd, all things considered. Since I thought I upped pretty much everything, from the prizes to the promotion. But I am grateful you all were interested in entering.

I also want to thank the judges again, because so many stepped up to the plate without me having to ask. I actually did not vote once Ruby volunteered a couple days ago, so it was totally balanced with 3 guys and 3 girls. I did have to break a tie though. And I made sure to still comment on every pic.

But you don't want to hear this stuff, you want to know who won...

Congratulations to Toberboobap, of dA and REO, for being the grand prize winner with a total of 46 points!!! Toby will recieve the prize of her choice, at about a $50 value, along with a one year subscription to deviantART.

Our second place winner, with a total of 45 points, is Akira of RPM!! Akira will receive a prize of his choice, at about a $25 value.

The third prize winner, also with a total of 45 points, is HJHikari, from dA!! HJ will be getting a prize at about a $15 value.

And finally, the fourth place winner is Shadypenpen of dA, with a total of 42 points!!! Shady will be getting an art request from me.

I'm a little tired right now, so I won't be sending an email/PM/note to the winners until tomorrow. But if you have won and see it here first, you can start thinking of what you'd like me to buy for your prize. And have some alternate choices in case it's not something easy for me to buy.

Since Akira and HJ tied in total points, I had to break that tie. But Akira had two first place votes to HJ's zero, so I used that as the tiebreaker and awarded Akira second.
We also had another tie at the bottom, but I didn't think breaking that tie would be too nice, so we have two in ninth.

Judging was very difficult. You could see that when each person who recieved a first place vote actually had at least one vote in the bottom 5. So the range really varied from person to person.
That's a credit to the really creative, funny, and unique ideas you guys all came up with. So even if you didn't win, you all should be proud of the jobs you did. Each one is cool in it's own way.

It was really hard. I don't know if I judged well enough but, I think it was OK. Judging with just one category was mostly why it was hard.

But...Rocky, the images aren't working. Even at full-size, ImageShack keeps giving a 'no hotlinking from this domain' error, and I'm not hotlinking.

Oh, RM? In the link you gave there, none of the pics are showing up. Must be trouble with Photobucket or where ever that yellow frog is from...

Which makes no sense, actually, seeing how the '07 stuff is all fine and also on Imageshack. But it was fine last night when I reuploaded all the .html. I'll see if I can rework something quick.

*EDIT 15 MINUTES LATER*

Now I just hit refresh and the thumbs all loaded. Akira's worked, but I got the hotlinking image on Toby's. So I hit refresh and it loaded. So I guess try that. Maybe we had too many looking, that it just temporarily killed it. I dunno. Laughing

But it is working for me again.

Well, you'd have about as much of a chance to win as anyone might have. But you would have needed a good picture to get a good place.
