It's late, but it's here.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Subaru leaps into the air to go to where his mother is being held, but an arm reaches from the snow and grabs his ankle. Yeti Blizzard is still up! A pained expression crosses the boy's face.

Title Screen: Hyde's Scheme

Akane's still alive and well, apparently unaware that Hyde's using her as bait for anything. The painter watches her go through her sketchbook at the fountain, pleased with himself. The children are still pissing him off though.

Oh, but wait! She's getting ready to leave, that's no good! So Hyde is forced to come up with a reason to detain her. After a false start, he comes up with the idea of asking her to model for a painting. She's hesistant, but Luna convinces her to do it (Akane's bag has a white version of the Hikari crest on it.).

Meanwhile, Subaru's trying to climb over the stadium's grandstands, but Yeti Blizzard is still holding on to his leg. The guy's beginning to remind me of Flashman after he had one too many Darkchips back in Axess.

Brief scene of Hyde painting an increasingly nervous Akane.

Subaru's finally made it to the Wave Road, but he can barely move thanks to the ever persistant, not to mention pathetic, Yeti Blizzard.

Hyde's finished his painting. The result look like if Picaso had one nightmare too many. While he's extolling it's artistic-ness, Subaru finally arrives. Akane has a flashback to the Rockman Express episode. Rockman's voice seems...

Well, anyway, Hyde realizes he's in a pinch. Subaru's about to take action when someone chuckles. Yeti Blizzard is STILL attached to his leg. God dammit. Hyde takes advantage of this and transforms, grabbing Akane with Phantom Claw. '' Mom!'' Subaru cries out.

Police sirens begin to wail, so Phantom Black grabs Akane, leaps to a Wave Road, and gets out of there. Subaru can't go after him because of the deadweight clutching his leg. Fortunately, Harp Note takes care of that with a Pulse Song (Misora saw Hyde's broadcast, if you remember). The two wave out as Amachi and Goyoda arrive on-scene. Amachi runs over to Luna and co, who says that there's trouble.

On the Wave Road, Akane regains consciousness and begs to be let go (way to be subtle with your fanservice, Xebec). Subaru and Misora are on his tail, so he leaps off onto a suspension bridge. In a Spiderman moment, Phantom Black tosses Akane into the air, then hits Subaru with a Phantom Slash when he tries to save her. He's just screwing around with the boy though, for a Phantom Claw comes out of a building a plucks her by the shirt. Out of options, Subaru activates a Cannon.

This is exactly what Phantom Black wants. Taking advantage of the boy's reluctance to fire, he throws out another Phantom Slash. Misora tries to come at the phantom from behind, but Phantom Black uses Akane as a shield again, before setting up another attack. In no time at all, he opens up on Subaru and Misora, laughing.

After being thrown to the ground, Misora demands that Pahntom Black let Akane go, and he obliges by dropping her off a building. Misora dashes forward... ''Fool.'' Phantom Black smirks, summoning another Phantom Claw to flick her away before catching Akane once again.

Triumphant, Phantom Black grabs Subaru with another Phantom Claw, asking for his OOPArt before slamming him around the docks where they are. But when he's about to strike the finishing blow, the claw is severed. It's Yeti Blizzard, good as new, ready to fight once again. Hyde is forced to release Akane, and the two UMAs rush the weakened Subaru.

But what? A pillar of purple energy repels them. What is this? Suabru recognizes the figure looming over him as...Empty!

From a hidden location, a familiar woman smiles.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Preview: Orihime speaks, looking bored, Empty's eyes flash, Yeti Blizzard and Phantom Black are at a loss, Empty conjures up some power, and generally looks menacing.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is one of the best episodes in the series. Watching Phantom Black continuously toy with Subaru and Misora, and then proceed to beat them down was...just amazing. I think that it's safe to say that Hyde is the best character on the show right now, no contest.

The art was done by Yuko Sera, who did the first episode. Pretty good, and looks of 'shakey cam' moments that added a lot to the mood. See this episode as soon as possible, you won't be let down.

I haven't read your summary but I did read your opinion on the episode. I'm intrigued but I couldn't find a video of it yet. Where did you get the episode from?

Now you can spend 10 minutes of your life on this totally pointless hostage drama. (the art is ok, thankfully)

@TheWebbuilder: Thank you! I'm not really familiar with all the different sites out there, making it difficult for me to search.

EDIT: Not a bad episode, but not terribly great IMHO either. I noticed there was too much emphasis on still shots. Art is good though and Phantom Black was awesome. Yeti Blizzard on the other hand, acted just plain weird in the first part.

Unless I'm wrong, Rockman should have just "waved out?" when Yeti Blizzard hold onto his feet. This ruined the 'funny' element of the scene for me. Not to mention I found it out of character. Loved the scenes with Hyde in the park though and I am looking forward to see what kind of powers Empty has in his arsenal. I guess this means Yeti Blizzard and Phantom Black are in trouble now.

There was one thing I truly disliked, and this is just my personal view. But those ruined and broken tombstones around 5:03, if that was meant as a joke...tasteless. Even if it is just a cartoon.

A user on youtube just posted RnR: Tribe 17 on his account today on youtube. I got to see it myself. It was funny at first (note: Hyde's art, his stammering (did he mention the p-word? not saying), Yeti, and some other parts), but it got more serious afterwards. I didn't like, like JH24 said, the tombstone part. Why? That is just plain defacing and disrespect. In general, I enjoy this episode very much.

I don't think it was intended to offend or make light of disturbing a graveyard. Looking at it, Rockman obviously was going in between the tombstones and really wouldn't have made as much damage as he did with Yeti's body. Now the ape might have been pulling on some for leverage or something, but I don't think the intention was to overdo the desecration of that part of the area. The joke wasn't that those were destroyed, but that Rock thought he had gotten rid of Yeti somehow. I can understand why you guys might feel strongly against how it was drawn, but I personally don't feel it was done in poor taste.

Common sense? Yep. But I dunno if the physics of doing so could also mean that Yeti would also wave out with him, because he was physically touching Rock. I believe the principle has been used before...or at least in Dragonball it was, LOL. If that's the case, then it wouldn't have worked anyways.

Ah, that was a great episode. I totally forgot about Harp Note, so when she popped in, I was quite pleasantly surprised.

And finally Empty does something.

(Is it just me or do Orihime's 'ooparts' look bigger in the preview than usual *bricked*)

I was more focused on how poorly drawn she looked, but whatever. The preview was pretty boring, the only thing that really stood out for me was that it might be possible that Orihime put Gori up to the OOPArt hunt too, cause he looked like he was trying to explain himself or something.

Seriously, I loved how Hyde went from an amusing, out-there character to a flat out sadist in this episode. I seriously got some Green Goblin/Gwen Stacy vibes when he threw Akane off the bridge. I'm kinda curious to know why she was calling Rockman 'Oni-san', since the only translations of that I know of are either 'big brother', or Mr. Demon, none of which really make any sense here.

So, yeah, this episode had pretty much all you could really ask for: action, drama, humor, good art, good camera work, and an entire season's-worth of Akane fanservice to boot, I suppose. This ep was quite a gem, I thought.

I've finally caught up! YAY!

I'm wondering if Akane will find out about Subaru being Rockman by the end of this set of episodes.

Also, it seems that Orihime has finally come to the conclusion of "If you want something done, do it yourself."

I don't know what the exact wording was, but she's referring to him as the delivery boy. Remember that episode? Yeaaaaah.

Figured if people didn't keep up with the goings-on at On-Air, I'd mention here. Seiko's had some issues, so he hasn't caught up with getting caps posted recently. And I'm trying to help out those looking for them by taking more again. You can find what I and another member have posted on the forums over there. And this week, I brought back a zipped batch. So along with a small preview of what's in it, here's the link if you want Ep. 17 caps:

Ep. 17 Screencaps (~11MB, 245 Total Caps) Link: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=SG82P5W4

*Later that evening EDIT* Oh yes, and these...PANS! The lovely shot of Akane's UMA [yes, I can use my own fun little keyword for the other kind of fanservice Wink] has been numbered correctly now. Two variations of #5. And I took a few liberties with #10 to show the whole scene, but still keep the eye boxes in it. I could have done another variation, but didn't.

I certainly like your screenshots. They're real helpful with seeing various scenes in the episode. And sometimes you get a bunch of really great shots too.
