Tribe 18 Summary (OOPARTS unleash plot-turning spoilers!)

"Now now, Subaru-kun, I know you can't take your eyes off my two gigantic OOPARTS..."
*bricked* Wink

Picking up from last week, Harp Note is down, worrying about Rock while explosions occur in the background. We head over to the scene of the action where Yeti Blizzard and Phantom Black are trying to figure out why Empty had to get in their way, while they were taking care of Rockman. Our big green guardian just stands there in front of Rock with those glowing eyes of his. Subaru seems just as confuzzled as the other two.

Akane, now out of PB's grasp, runs behind a stack of boxes in this wharf/warehouse area, where the scene is taking place. She sees a fancy white car pull up. The back passenger door opens to reveal Orihime, much to Subaru's delight.

TITLE SCREEN: Orihime's True Character

With a simple command, it's clear Orihime has ordered Empty to dispose of Yeti and Phantom. The big ape has a few words for Empty, but the only response he gets is a pair of glowing eyes. Even more ticked off, Yeti throws a punch, only to be stopped by the brick wall that is Empty's open hand. Empty's whole hand is pretty much the size of one of Yeti's fingers, yet Empty makes a slight grasp of him and flings Yeti into a building with ease. Subaru and War Rock are stunned. Especially with that look on War Rock's face. Laughing

Orihime lets Phantom Black know that she and Empty will kindly be taking the OOPARTS from the baddies. Yeti, who now is getting up from where he landed, just laughs that suggestion off. Phantom Black seems to think she's stupid to think that could happen as well. Can't say she didn't warn them. *shrug* But if they're gonna be insolent fools, guess Empty's gonna have to beat those OOPARTS outta them.

First up, Empty takes on Yeti again. He summons snowball after snowball, but Empty just teleports out of the way of each one. Once Empty is right in front of Yeti, the ape leaps up, beats his chest and uses his avalanche attack once again. Empty teleports away, but the rushing snow is heading right for Akane! As Subaru screams for his mom, Harp Note arrives in the nick of time to save her. Akane thanks Harp Note for rescuing her, and calls her something that puzzles HN. (My guess is she thinks Harp Note is a delivery person like Rockman, but I could be way off on that...I dunno. Laughing

)

Yeti's now up on a Wave Road, only to get absolutely creamed in the back of the head by Empty. After climbing out of the hole he created from slamming back down to earth, Empty greets Yeti with his Magic Thunder attack. With the ape now shocked, Empty places his hand in front of Yeti's shoulder, where the dinosaur OOPART is located. And his hand starts to phase through Yeti's armor to grab it! Subaru and War Rock sit there stunned at what they're seeing.

A giant white light shoots up into space from Yeti's body. That apparently set off the alarms at AMAKEN. Utagai checks to see what this disturbing phenomenon is. Back to the drama, Empty succeeds in pulling the dino OOPART out, causing Gori's henkan to break. But the billionaire is still cocky and mouthy until the moment he passes out. Empty hands the first OOPART to Orihime, but as she marvels in holding it, Phantom Black takes the opportunity to attack.

A fiery barrage makes contact in the area of Empty and Orihime. PB is all confident that he landed some deadly hits. Nope, check that. Not even a scratch on either Empty or Orihime, which seems strange considering Empty didn't appear to shield the lovely doctor with more than one arm. Subaru puts on a happy face to see them safe, and Orihime orders Empty to attack again.

PB starts out using his Stick Sword attack to duel with Empty in a fairly nice, fluid fight scene. As he finally makes contact, his cane (and body) phases right through Empty. As PB turns around, Empty readies his Thunder Bazooka. That's one big cannon coming out of his chest!

Goyoda and Amachi are heading to the scene when Utagai calls in. Probably due to another white light phenomenon setting the alarms off...
Yep, there it is as Phantom Black screams in pain while Empty's hand is in his gut, pulling out the shuriken OOPART. Empty tosses his body next to Gori's, and then Hyde loses his henkan state. With two OOPARTS in her hand, the artifacts start to glow and hover around Orihime. Uh oh, that's an evil laugh she's got...

With Empty's back turned to us, he's conveniently blocking our view now. We see a glow in front of him where Orihime is standing. Apparently, OOPARTS can also help her change outfits. She walks into view now, no longer in her lab outfit, but her evil, lusty, low-cut Mu priestess attire. With the two OOPARTS orbiting around her like planets around the sun. She continues laughing maniacally while Subaru wonders what's just happened.

Orhime reveals her true intentions about why she was collecting the OOPARTS to Subaru. Harp Note and Akane overhear it from a rooftop, which angers Harp. Orihime goes on for a while more, while mentioning the name "Ra-Mu." Lots of hefty plot talk while the dramatic music plays. And, have I mentioned, plenty of screentime for those OOPARTS. Wink

Gori and Hyde are now conscious, although still motionless on the ground, but they don't like what's going on, either.

Two down and one to go. You know what that means, Subaru. War Rock seems to be warning the kid to get ready for battle, but Subaru decides to take time for a little quiet, but angry monologue, which I'd guess is about being deceived all this time. Eventually he gets that fighting spirit back, because he's not ready to let go of his OOPART. Crazy evil doctor priestess lady orders Empty to go get it. As Empty lunges towards him, Rockman unleashes the power of Thunder Berserker. Epic battle to take place next week!

Next episode preview: Thunder Berserker surprised! Empty shocks Harp Note! Thunder Berserker surprised! Empty shockingly punches Rockman! Goyoda arrives with a real man's bazooka! Take that, Empty! Hyde and Gori evading the police? Empty floats around with his bazooka chest and fires away! That'll all take place in Ep. 19: Empty's Empty! ...or "The Naught of Empty," or whatever our translators decide to go with for the title. LOL

Again, a nice episode for art mostly. I didn't care for some of the beginning, which had a Nomoto feel to me. I think you can definitely tell the difference in Orihime's art, that it wasn't Sera throughout. But I say that alot.

I'd like to know a little more of the plot-heavy info, but unfortunately can't help you guys with that. The story moved along nicely again in this episode and the fight scenes kept me entertained, even if they still can't match the one in Ep. 26 of season 1. But I like the flow of the last couple episodes and hope things will continue that way so Tribe will go out with a bang.

This was a good episode, animation and art wise it was a bit disappointing, but regarding plotdevelopment this was very interesting.

The last minutes were Orihime explains her motives as well as Rockman's monologue alone are worth watching this episode IMHO. I feel sorry for him and I was glad to see his fighting spirit back in the end. With Rockman now transformed in his Berserker form the real battle is about to begin.

I haven't watched the preview and although I hope for Rockman to win, I also hope that this time, he really has to fight hard in his transformed state. Empty is shown to be incredibly powerful, and it seems he will be the opponent to really challenge Berserker at last.

I loved Empty's fighting style, especially the emphasis on his speed. The battle in general was well done, but the art felt a bit unpolished at times and there were also a few very weird shots.

Still, a good episode IMHO. I'm actually looking forward to the next episode, my interest seems to have come back a bit.

My combo has been broken. But that's okay, since I don't think I would've had time to do the summary this week.

Well, from the samplings on Youtube, I must say that Empty is the new Slur. The art was very good, but of course, Orihime looked like crap until she got into her geisha outfit towards the end. I wasn't using the sound, but she definately gave off an 'I'm so happy and evil!' vibe. It's nice to see Empty finally do something, and finally show some of his attacks. His death-flower-cannon thingie looks quite odd though. His fight with Phantom Black was definitely the highlight of the episode in terms of animation.

So next week we have more Goyoda action, learn that Hyde and Gori are still relevent, and have Rockman and Harp Note get tossed around by Empty some more. The art looked pretty good, coming from Nomoto.

ONE MORE EDIT: Ra Mu is the 'Ultimate Lifeform' that Orihime mentioned in Tribe 2.

FINAL EDIT: Okay, I've listened to what Orihime had to say, and it looks like she wants to use Ra Mu to create a new world (shin sekai). So it looks like there's a high chance that they've thrown her game motive out the window in place of a generic 'rule the world' motive, or that we still have one big plot point in store within the next three weeks.

In all fairness, I think Subaru should have seen that coming, considering what happened between him and Tsukasa. But it seems like he got over it a lot quicker than he did with Tsukasa. His sad voice is sad though.

I just realized that Phantom Black's Stick Sword became a lightsaber this time around. It's now 5x more awesome.

Sera must've been holding back on us in Tribe 1, because her art wasn't this good back then. There were some shots of Subaru that reminded me of Nao Chikaoka's style, like when he smiles after Orihime and Empty emerge unscathed from the Phantom Slash.

And now, for some unholy reason, I'm reminded of that Stream episode where Gauss crossdressed and used basketballs for breasts. Uhg.
