Spammer Signups?

i just happened to glance at the list of people having birthdays in the next 7 days and saw cheapVIAGRAshopSuperCIALI and VIAGRAsoftForFREEcheapCIA. i don't know if these "people" are left over from the last attack or if they're new. no comments though.

Spammers, huh? There's many of them. Most do it to kill the boards. Others do it for great mischief. I don't see why they have to plague this community. We haven't done much to Anonymous.

Spambots that create accounts of forums.

Any account with 0 posts is usually deleted after some time by us.

I just took out a few dozen of them, but it's really tedious now that we no longer have an admin panel link in profiles. @_@ There are still a lot left.

It sounds to me like he misread or misunderstood what you guys meant. That or he meant harassing as in causing trouble on a whole for the board, which is what a large clutter of spam accounts can do - harassing doesn't have to specifically refer to posting bad things. So stop criticizing him, it's not very polite. :/

While that is an option, I believe the admins don't use that because not everyone who signs up posts immediately. At least, that's how I think it went. Plus we've also had the fun of having the board go wonky when the code was messed with, so I think we're doing fine now.

Especially now that the CaptCHA and mass account deletion mods are now working again.

If we delete people that actually HAVE made posts in the past but don't post anymore, we create the problem of ghost postings. Some of you may remember from WAY back in the day of the old forum of threads and pages in the forum that didn't really exist but still showed up because of this.
