Okay! The polls are closed and this year's game is going to be Star Force!
Suppose the next order of biz would be assembling a list of banned moves and/or hacked items. To make things a bit easier, I will keep re-editing this post with a master list of sorts.
Work has already begun on the trophies and a pic will be posted as soon as their ready to go. Also, if people have any prizes they wish to donate that can be posted here as well.
Did a little checking. Gamestop is selling the games for $20 new, $18 used. Thanks to there being three different versions (one of which being a Gamestop exclusive) it seems pretty easy to find. The game takes about three or four days to beat--probably less if you're one of those hardcore gamers that don't believe in pansy things like sleeping.
More news as it comes up.
Banned List--Current as of 4/28

I think it might be....I dunno, fair to not allow the Combo chip, because some can do upwards of 3500 damage if applied correctly... _________________

Perhaps there should be a cap on the amount of damage a Best Combo could do if Best Combos are kept in the tournament. I would personally not be sad if they were banned. I know that I have a Best Combo that could easily take down the max HP in Ryuusei 1 (which is 2320 HP [Base 1000 + 6 Leo Brothers]) and I would feel cheap being forced to use it in order to beat someone.
I also think that there should be a ban on the use of Lunar Knight cards, because they are an obvious sign of hacking. I also would go as far as to say that Brothers with Lunar Knight cards should be disabled. _________________

Certain cards I know can be a REAL pain. But I think maybe you can ban maybe 1 Giga card like that missle one, the black hole cards, and maybe a few mega class cards (maybe...). _________________ As a Deviant, I work alone on my projects.

Well, don't the Black hole cards not apply to Navi's? _________________

Best Combos should be banned, no questions asked. They will almost always be one-hit kills, and that's not talent, just blind luck. Cap on damage wouldn't really stop silly Legend cards, since I have one that heals 1500HP. :P
I am currently undecided on whether or not it would be best to also ban the random roulette of cards brothers get you during battle. You -can- turn that off in your folder creation list (you still get the Brother's benefit, their random set of favorites will just not come up during a battle).
Any card not legitimately obtainable in the North American version of the game should also be banned.

I agree on banning Legend Force (Best Combo) cards as well. They're just too broken in multiplayer and it basically turns into luck of the draw as to who gets their Legend Force card first.
I wouldn't miss Brother Force (roulette) cards, either, if they were banned.
Also, would anybody be interested in a few Ryuusei 2 battles on the side? _________________ Math problems? Call 1-800-[(10x)(13i)^2]-[sin(xy)/2.362x]. |

Will we be getting YouTube footage from this tournament as well?If so,that'd be great for all us people who are not going to be able to make it.
However, when it comes to banning stuff, try and ban the overpowered chips and such.I dunno how Ryuusei works much, but try your hardest! _________________ Things are going to be changing soon in the next few months.Stay tuned for updates and the like. |

That's an impossibility, because there no way to have it projected on a TV like the other years. Unless the camera is RIGHT OVER someone's shoulder while they're playing, there aren't going to be any videos this year. _________________

Well, the DS apparently has some kinda capability for video output. I've seen videos of an official Tetris DS tournament where each DS was hooked up to a bigger screen behind the contestants, and Nintendo Power has confirmed that they do have something that's essentially a capture card used for the DS. The extension itself isn't commercially available, but I suspect some kinda hack might be possible. _________________ Math problems? Call 1-800-[(10x)(13i)^2]-[sin(xy)/2.362x]. |

Anything Brawl related (I imagine) would be limited to your hotel rooms.
Besides, beyond this being a Rockman-themed yearly event, I don't think the con staff would take too kindly to a random Brawl setup outside the game room. _________________

Speaking of that, I am curious as to who will be bringing their wii/brawl disks, since...well, I know not everyone is comfortable with bringing that sort of expensive item to a con. Of course, it wouldn't be too difficult to bring your controller, but the wii, etc. _________________ The time is come. Bid farewell to your bloodstained past.

Guys, please remember that this is the thread for discussing the Ryuusei no Rockman tournament for Otakon, not Brawl. Please keep that discussion elsewhere, thanks. _________________

This will seem like a huge coincidence, but I'm going to Otafest next weekend and they're going to be holding an official Ryuusei 1 tournament, which I plan to enter. I can take some notes of any rules they'll have in effect. _________________

Probably a better thing to do would be to take some notes on how they commonly view it, if they do at all ^^; _________________

Okay, here are all the rules that were in effect durign the Ryuusei tourney at Otafest.
1. No Legend/Best Combos
2. No On Air Brothers' Best Combos
3. Best out of 3 on practice
Overall, pretty much what we've been discussing. _________________
