Feather's Art - Update 12/28

I don't know why I can't remember seeing "Come Play With Us" before. Even though that wasn't in the recent update, it was quite awesome and twisted. I love the creepy eyes. Atticus goes along with that creepiness, in a twistedly fun way. Would work as a creepy Heartless boss in Kingdom Hearts, with a punk jester dragon attitude!

Mockingbird looks quite good as well, even if you aren't happy with her looking goth. The purple is subtle enough, but really brings some life to the dark cuteness oozing from the pic. And like Mugen kinda said, I think it's how you placed the wings on the back of the boots that might be throwing you off. Her right leg seems to be turning to the right, while the left is facing forward. So it seems like one little wing is directly on the back of the boot, while the other is on the left hand side of the left boot. Also might give the illusion that one is actually higher than the other. Gorgeous eyes, though, and bird wings/feathers look nice. Good job, Feather.

As a minor note, nothing in this update will be Rockman-related. But there WILL be a lot of art. Comments-- especially critique-- would seriously be appreciated. I don't update for nothing, my dear friends. On with the update!

Time For Your Shots - Drew this for a contest Zeanu on DA was holding. The guidelines were, in general, to draw an insane doctor. xP I'm not really proud of this one, and the Photoshop touch-ups I gave it are crap (I was in a hurry to beat the deadline), but oh well.

Mephistopholes - Not too proud of this one, either. ^^; But the person who requested it loved it, so I'm really kind of neutral for it at this point. I know I could've done a lot better though.

Dragon of the North - The first dragon I've drawn in AGES. I'm rather proud of this, even with the few noticeable mistakes it has. The CGing-- particularly on the black-ish armour-- took me forever. =[

The Blister Exists - Eh. More of my emo art. xD Done with colored pencil.

The Price of Resistance - SOMETHING BLOODY. You know an update in Feather's thread is never complete without something bloody. <3 But yeah, read the descrip. on DA, it explains it in full.

Soul of Wildfire - Osnap, it's AXEL. Yeah, this took me seven hours to draw. And the chakrams were a damn pain in the ass. The original picture was bigger and more of the fire was visible, but I scanned in what I could and made it look glowy in Photoshop.

Question! - I don't know. <_<;

I want waffles! Tasty chocolate chip waffles! Alrighty, I'll start off with your newest, since I haven't commented on that yet.

Well, if you don't even know what it is, I guess I'll have to reply like an all-knowing, hidden-meaning-in-everything art critic, like I was taught in my college art history class. In this piece, "Question," the artist is trying to depict the daily hell that people on this planet go through every day. The primary focus is that of a girl who is wearing a butterfly-type mask, implying that she has two different sides to her, that she's hiding behind a facade. She wishes to break free of her cocoon to expose her true self. As she only has wings on one side of her body, she is trying to escape the pain and torture of the flames beneath her, but cannot truly elude their burning grasp. The arrows represent the many directions she is being pulled by society, as she wants to fly away, but cannot. Yet, by her expression, she seems content in such limbo.

End high-society critic scene. How's that for trying to decipher what it means? I think I've probably confused both you and myself too much now. All that mumbo jumbo aside, it is really neat. You don't need to have any real meaning behind it. Sometimes things you just start scribbling and adding to, without conscience, turn out to be great art. And it is. A bunch of curves in there, whether it's the flames, wings, etc., and they all flow really beautifully.

I think I've said something on a bunch of the others at DA, but I also liked how "Price of Resistance" came out. Another great job on the dragon, plus Baraer is well drawn too. The shading is especially good in that one. And of course, so is the blood. ^_^ Happy Trill for blood? Sure! Some of the things you weren't happy with, like his hair, really don't take away from the pic, because the overall detail is so good. And you really do draw cool looking dragons.

So there's some more long-winded comments for ya, Feather. I'll be sitting outside by my mailbox waiting for those waffles.

Thanks m'dear, that interpretation is actually... really flippin accurate now that I look at it. You scare me. *inches away* xD And thank-you for all of your comments so far-- you seem to be the only one commenting on my stuff lately. Pray tell I haven't scared everyone off. <_<

But ANYWAY, I'm back after a reeeaally long time and I don't have many new updates; a lot of the pics I've posted previously in this thread were deleted on DA in a gallery-cleanup. I'm too picky. But I've got some new stuff (No doubt OT, sorry about that), and the reason I've been gone so long is to touch up on my drawing skills... that and the lack of good grades on my progress report. So er.. yeah. If anyone else would like to comment, I'd love to have any critique or simply just a comment, to see if I've improved a little, if any at all.

Map of the Problematique - I was really trying to improve anatomy in this one overall. And I tried a new little wing technique, and I think it turned out well.

Atrocity - I've really got to stop drawing all this bloody junk. =[ But I am proud of this one. <3

Wow. That is a really nice picture of Forte. Excellent shading and I love that evil look in his eye. Question and Atrocity are also really nice. I like how question is so disjointed and confused, with the arrows pointing up and away from the flames, like problems in our lives. Meaning...? Fun to try and make something out of small details like that.

Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaang~!!!

Very awesome work. As you mention on dA, that is an insane improvement in terms of realism, the lighting/shading work and overall intensity in this pic. I see nothing wrong with the flames, really. I love the flow and curves in 'em (which play off of his hair and cloak nicely, too), and you used whatever blurry tool very well. Love the emotion and anger you feel looking at his face. Definitely can tell you put a lot of work into this one, so I stand and applaud and shower the stage with waffles for you this time around.

Okay I actually have a piece I completely forgot to mention here. I finished it in July, and even though it's generally just a compilation of my earlier stuff, it's EXE-related (more specifically Forte-related) and I thought tracking my progress would be kinda neat.

Yeah, since I draw Forte so much, it was only necessary that I showed my progress by comparing all of my Forte stuff. xP Hope you like. Or something. Some actual substantial EXE art is on its way.

Looks like I need to keep my eye on this thread a lot more than I have.

As for your "timeline", I enjoy how you place all of your works in a single continuous block and offer retrospectives on it. It's almost like watching the bonus features of a DVD version of a blockbuster film.

I can definitely see the progress that you have made throughout the times that you have drawn Forte--and it is clear that you are honing your skills as the tapestry progresses.

A wonderful job, and a treat for even the most casual of viewers. Bravo.
