This came to my attention on another board. As with every other generation of the Pokemon franchise, the Fourth, Diamond and Pearl, will get their own cousin for the DS, Fall 2008 (in Japan)!

The new version: Platinum. Just like how the other 3rd games focus primarily on Legendaries, the focus here appears to be Giratina. And it has a new form, it seems.

When this eventually comes out in English, I will happily return to my schoolboy roots yet again.

I'm tempted. But the last time I got a "cousin" game was Crystal; if the only thing they're changing is a new location for a Legendary and a few extra bits of story, I'd rather save my limited funds for something else.

Now, if they make actual gameplay additions like new areas and hopefully the addition of more wild Fire types, etc, then I'll give it some consideration.

See, I knew this would happen. This is why I saved my money when Diamond and Pearl came out, since it was obvious that they would make a third game sooner or later. And by playin' it smart, I've saved money and I'll be able to buy this new Platium version without getting bored. Yayness! Cool

I knew it.They have been shelling out these games like no tomorrow, which is getting to be a drag.I quit enjoying them after Emerald came out,so I won't be shelling out money for this installment.

It's Platinum. Not Platina.

Sai and I plan on importing it. :O

Sorry to say but my opinion. Just another Emerald spoof with 1 special Gym leader you fight from the show like 8th gym leader from the Advance series in Emerald.

A Legendary being a main plot for that one story bit after getting the 7th gym badge and then when you complete that quest. Its all back to collecting and gym battle.

Serioously though its going to be like that. Oh also dont want to forget about the extra animations too.

Heck I say the GameCube versions had more of a plot than the handhelds. But thats my opinion.

Emerald was not the first game like this. Yellow and Crystal say hi.

While I thought it'd be called Opal or Girasol, I did say it would have Giratina on it. And I'm happy with that. Besides, Giratina is awesome.

Giratina's stage was essentially the creepiest Pokemon dungeon I've ever been in, what with the silent, eerily peaceful atmosphere in the crater lake and the sudden "zomfg I'm lost in a tomb with level 60 Haunters o__o" realization. Running into Giratina was almost a relief, since it finally gave the player some sense of what the hell was going on.

It would be interesting to see if they have any plans to change the dungeon's layout by adding storyline...but I don't really see how they'd improve on it. Besides, the unexpectedness of reaching Giratina was part of the fun of Diamond and Pearl, and making it into routine storyline would kinda ruin the moment...

Just my random two cents >_>

Yeah. The one pokemon that doesn't look like a pokemon. That's why it's awesome.

I utterly and totally agree with Neo's statement. Serious, Giratina looks more like something you'd find in a dungeon in a game like Zelda or Final Fantasy. Okay, maybe not those two games, but you get my point. XD

I've heard Yu-Gi-Oh but yeah. It might fit better in Digimon though. I say that because no matter how they others look, most pokemon look cool or cute. Not almost scary like this one.

When you say the "fourth" franchise, I believe you're missing Fire Red and Leaf Green. Or are they sort of like a "3.5" version because they don't have a cousin named "Water Blue"?

The WotC (Wizards of the Coast, the original card game manufacturers) people that are working with Nintendo have already made about 1,000 Pokemon. When will they stop?

Cards doesn't equal Pokemon. As you can see, they are making remakes of Pokemon cards, and giving them Gym Leader titles, or did. For example; Gym Leader's Growlithe, or something like that.

Yeah. Cards don't count. The number is 493. Not counting all the various forms. But counting all Pokemon once. Like Shaymin and Arceus.
And yes. Those don't count because they were remakes. They're 3rd gen.

Sorry I couldn't help myself.

I'm contemplating to get it or not.

Eventhough I'm a girl, I play pokemon too XD
My brother is the pokemon fan though. I'm just ok with it.
We have both diamond and peral version on our DS, but we have a problem with the game program.
We have to save double times to make it work. My brother already beat the Elite four many times but the game data can't be saved, and after the credits the game will get stuck, so we'll never get past the Elite four T^T
That means we won't be able to move on!!
Plus, some of the pokemon that we catch that are sent to the PC goes missing!!

Oh yeah, my game is in japanese so sometimes I dun have any idea what to do ToT

*sigh* I wanna Evee XD
