Okay, now you're really trying my patience. It's not that there's "no word." Don't make generalizations about things you obviously don't understand. There was a miscommunication, now it's taking a bit of shuffling to be resolved.
To be frank, the amount of time I've already spend answering your bothersome posts (which all seem to be repeating themselves) could have been much better spent on fansubbing or that neverending task called The Real World. So I'll keep this one short.

That's 'cause people respond faster and more often to something they feel compelled to reply to or build off of. It's not necessarily that something isn't a good point, it just might be worded well enough that a response would be too repetitive and not worth the time to type.
My reply probably can't add much since I'm not as high up on the food chain. But you can't expect everybody to work at the same level, dedicate the same amount of time, etc., etc. as you would. We're all different. Trust me, you're not the first to think what you have typed and it's not like it hasn't crossed some of staff's minds at some point. But when people are set in their ways/habits, they aren't going to change them at the drop of a hat.
I probably have the least of a life on the crew, but 11.5 hours of my day is devoted to geting ready for/going to/coming home from work. Some days you just aren't in the mood to do more work, even if you know you should. Lots of times, I feel like I had more free time when I was in school that I do now. And lots of the staff is older like me, sorta stuck in that same boat. Or worse, as I/they alluded to.  Believe me, the process can be tiring and draining, especially if you are trying to be accurate and precise.
While I could choose to only devote my freetime to editing (and currently really am not doing any...*looksoveratRyo/NGwhistlinginnocently*...^^ I still take on other projects on other sites in the community, because I'm crazy stupid like that. And I just like the variety of doing different things. Add on top of that I'm a gamer like most, and try to relax playing. That takes up more freetime. Some of the staffers are artists and draw, too. (Also hard work. And this paragraph doesn't even cover family/friend/etc. issues, so remember those add up.) If I only did editing, I'd probably get sick of it too quickly and lose interest. Hey, I wish I worked quicker. I wish I had Beast+ done by now. But it doesn't always work that way.
In my case, since I don't know Japanese, I have to rely on the other staffers who do to make sure the scripts are accurate when I edit. I sometimes have to ask more than one of them if my rewriting for a sentence doesn't go too far in deviating from the supposed translation. And because it has to go back and forth like that, it's not gonna be instant feedback. Plus with my journalism/English degree background, I'm a little pickier in making sure things are edited right. I might watch an episode 5 times over, some specific scenes more than that, to be sure I feel I've got the lines edited right.

Since the series has ended, there's no immediate rush to sub it all at once. Unlike series like Naruto or Bleach with an annoying fanbase combined with the random filler arcs, EXE doesn't have a rush to finish it before it gets out of hand. There's a set number of episodes already and more isn't going to get added on to that load.

All right, I'll stop getting so angry.
I'm... trying to understand what's going on. Everyone is telling me fansubbing is a long and arduous process. I can see that, considering it takes 2 months to make an episode...
I'll try to be more patient. Happy? Frankly, I don't really think I'm really that interested in the fansub anymore. I got pulled into Ryuusei by DATS because I was trying to write a fanfic about it. And considering I've already played BN6, there's not much left to know. So yeah, I'll check on this website when I have the time, and leave you to your own devices. (I'll try to look up what events you're so busy about... I don't think Otakon is that important... maybe it's just work.)
(But a communication error? )

Yes, it is just work. I'm now up to three jobs, so I can make ends meet. I have student loans, a car payment, gas, etc to pay for. Working on a fansub or the website has become secondary in my life for the past few years due to all of this. What extra time I *do* have has been more preoccupied with my cosplay projects instead lately.
I hope that satisfies you.

Yes, it satisfies me very much. At least I know now what goes on that blocks people up.
(As well, you all had lives before March 2008 and still managed to get each episode in within 2 months. Were these past two months anything special?)

I recall her going full-time on one of her jobs and adding the third in the past two months, yes.
Personally, I work full time and I'm living abroad. There'll be plenty of time for my hobbies when I get back to North America, so I have to see as much of Japan and learn as much Japanese as I can right now. Fansubbing is not so high on my priority list anymore.
You said before that you were "satisfied," I do hope you don't need EVERYONE'S life stories before that is true.

Aside from anything else all those who work on such programs need and deserve time to themselves and relaxation as well. They do not exist purely to fulfill everyone's subbing needs and while it's frustrating having to wait for the next sub to come out, just keep in mind how much work is actually required to make the completed sub. Can you understand Japanese? Can you edit a script to make it understandable to English people while keeping as much of the original content and meaning as possible? Can you encode? Can you accurately and repeatedly check the quality of not only the final product but the encoding as well?
It's easy to get impatient and lash out, but harder to understand and empathise with the people who do the work. Try it some time.

I'm trying to do that... (I mean, I realize everyone has work to do and everything... and I'm trying to learn Japanese, not for the sole reason of understanding fansubs, although that would be 90% it... I also want it for the purpose of giving me something to do with my time.)
Izumi: yes, I am satisfied. In fact, if you want, you can lock this thread. I don't need any more info... I think (just "think"... not 100% sure yet) I can realize how hard your lives are. (I mean, most of you are in or just out of university/college now. Of course fansubbing is secondary for you. It's just that it was also secondary before... the only real reason I returned to this thread was because episode 19 was taking an especially long time.)

hi everybody!
just for curiosity, what softwares do you use for encoding? because, maybe I can help, my pc is quite powerfull (quad-core and so on... don't get me started!) and I'd like to bring it to the maximum as possible. do you have some old set of files I can encode (subs, videos, etc) just for doing a benchmark?

Our encoding is done on the WPP side, so you might have better luck asking over there. Aiorus is a fantastic encoder and we're really lucky to have him. :)
