I just had a random idea: OtaRockman Caramelldansen!
Using a camera on a tripod, take one picture with everyone sticking their hip out to the left and hands flopped down on their foreheads, then another standing straight up with hands pointed up, and finally one like the first but with everyone sticking their hip out to the right instead. After the con, put them together as the three frames and put it to the music!
Also, it's confirmed, I should be there this year. _________________ Math problems? Call 1-800-[(10x)(13i)^2]-[sin(xy)/2.362x]. |

So what kind of swag is everyone looking to buy at Otakon?
I'm planning on getting the following:
- an L necklace
- a Vongola Ring of Sky
- Tsuna Sawada's X-Gloves
- Red vs. Blue DVD box set
Anything else I get I'll probably just decide on the spot while I'm there. _________________

I really don't care about swag anymore. I go to the con for the people... I might splurge on a few doujinshi, but other than that, most of the stuff in the dealer's room you can get at any mall these days, only at cons they're at ridiculously high prices.
I prefer to shop in the artist's alley. You can get more unique stuff there, at much cheaper prices. <3 _________________

I'm there for the people a well. There's nothing in the dealer's room that I can't get in Japan (or off Yahoo auctions) for considerably cheaper, lol. Even in the past, though, I've usually just bought artwork. _________________ One of the three EXE sisters! *Armstrong-style pose*

Yeah, I'm always all about artist alley. And Otakon's is HUGE. n.n;
So, we have one more space open in our Otakon rooms, since Sol had to go get a job and now can't go. :P So if there is anyone interested in joining us, let me know. The cost is $155 for Thursday - Monday at the Days Inn. _________________ "Cats are interesting. They're kind of like girls. When they come talk to you, it's great. I'm all up for the Caremell Dansen!
I'd like to find some more doujinshi. There's a few i know that are out there, but cannot find online. I'm also looking for Viral(TTGL) and Gash Bell items. |

Should I start selling tickets to said event now, or wait till Hecxz decides to actually do it?

After reading posts here, I get the feeling the con's going to be a very crazy place. (And I need to get on Zia and my parents' backs about hotel payments. xD; )
But as long as I leave with a Code Geass Lancelot figure/model/whatever, I will be a very happy fangirl. |D

Tip 1: get your badge the day before, prefrably in the late evening when there isn't as long a line.
Tip 2: If there is particular merch you are looking for, get to the dealers room on friday, especialy if it is a popular serise. If you want cheep merch, wait till sunday, grab bags are your friend.
Tip 3: It dosn't matter when you go to bed, 7am is always a reasonable time to wake up. Depending on who you have a room with/around will genaraly dictate your sleeping habits.
Tip 4: The convention center is a very big place, pack light, or you will regret it, the only things I can think you would absolutly need is wallet/moneies + ID, ID, con badge, and if you have one, a camera is always your friend.
Tip 5: While the dealers room is nice and all, but the stuff in the artist's alley is always worth parusing, you never know what your going to find there.
That's all I can think of for now. |

Oh you wouldn't kick a Snake in a box now would you, Tabby?
As for Otakon tips for the newbs
1) If I take this is your 1st time in Baltimore, especially at the Inner Harbor, try not to go out alone, try to always be with a group if you wander off away from the Convention center or the Hotel (etc, grab food, go shopping at a local store). Day time not so bad, but Night time is a must!
2) Try not to take any shortcuts (alleyways, behind buildings, etc) Always remain as much as possible in a public surrounding
3) Conserve your money, don't go and blow it all in the Dealer's room! Decide a reasonable spending amount and save the rest for food or a emergency.
4) As for money, don't flash it around in Public (especially outside the convention center, a lot of homeless are out, and potential wrongdoers)
5) Pack lightly when going to con, take really what you need, and make sure your belongings, especially the vitals (cellphone, wallet, money, etc) are secured in your pockets.
6) Be polite and have fun! Im sure you know how to act in public, so act like you have some sense, dont want to cause problems when your far far away from home!
7) Last thing I can say, is read over Otakon's rules, just to make sure on if you cosplay if it's ok on what you cosplay or what you use as props.
I hope that helps somewhat _________________ -Follow me on Twitch.tv-

In terms of sleeping times, whenever you want to if possible(depending on the activity level of those you share your room with), however, at cons, most people don't sleep as much as they normally do! We generally are having too much fun hanging out together, going to con events, getting food, etc. Usually, we go to bed late and get up early, but most people are good at respecting when you want to sleep.
As Hecxz said, don't travel alone. During the day is usually fine(heck, I did that my first time there, but I like to do my own thing sometimes, and I only travelled back and forth from my hotel room on my own). Night is a different story. I've seen a lot of sketchy people there, and some of them can be quite pushy. For saftey's sake, have a buddy with you.
When I go to Otakon, I go for the people. There's so many of you that I only get to see at that con, and you're all so much fun to hang out with. I can't wait to see you all again :3 I always hit up artists alley and the dealers room to see if there is anything I like. I usually end up with a list from my friends and buy more for them than for myself. Let's see if we can't create some more mayhem this year!
Oh, and.... CRAB BATTLE! >,^-^,< _________________

Yeah, I'm actually having some problems pre-reging. When I sign up it keeps saying how I've already registered for Otakon and to go to the Members Only section to check my status. I go there, it says I haven't registered, and to "click here to register." I feel an endless loop coming on.
Already sent a note to Otakon. Hopefully I'll hear from them soon. Anyone else having this problem though?

Mongeese are awesome.
One more tip for new con goers. If you're rooming in a hotel, bring a lock for your suitcase. There's a maid in the Days Inn who steals pants. I'm not joking either. Besides the maid, I'd lock up my things anyway, especially if you're rooming with people you don't know. Never hurts to be safe. |
