I'm not entirely certain what this means, but...

I never got to play CT when I was younger, so I am excited about this.
I have been reading other opinions on this game and it seems that they are just porting it rather than remaking it? I do not really know what to believe since all they have to judge from is a scan which may not even feature screenshots from the actual game. Either way I am ok with whatever they decide to do since I never got to play the original anyway. _________________ Name shortened from Serenade.exe |

well, with the site i found (i just posted that a few minutes ago), it looks like it is getting the FFIII and FFIV treatment. which, is really cool.
maybe we'll get to have more of the script that they had to cut out for space on the cartridge. _________________ just call me xfyre. not xfyrethespooky. |

Exactly my reaction when Diablo 3 was announced a few days ago.
I've heard nothing but good things about Chrono Trigger, so if they're doing a re-release of it, I'm eager to give it a shot. _________________ Stuck In The Middle With You; a Metroid and Halo crossover

Well, this is a surprise. I never got to play the other game(s). But this is a good thing though. |

I mean...D3 and Chrono Trigger are all well and good but I think people are overreacting a bit. In honesty I'm sure all of us have played Chrono Trigger before and loved it, but I'm hoping that SE does a little bit more than just a simple port and make over. With Diablo 3...well it's great yes, but going back to Diablo 2 I found it couldn't keep me enthralled for hours like it once did. Maybe I got past the point in my life where one thing could entertain me for hours, maybe not. I'll still get both, but a little bit more pragmatism could do people good. _________________

i was reading on the GameFAQs boards (yes, i should be shot just for doing that. XD) but, they were saying that this will be just a port, with no graphical overhaul. of course, the only place that says this is GameSpot. i'm not believing any rumours until Square comes out and says stuff. which, i've heard should be on July 7. _________________ just call me xfyre. not xfyrethespooky. |

If it's a port, I hope they port in the FMV Cutscenes they put into the PSone port of this game, I'll probally be picking this one up myself, Chrono Trigger has to be one of my favorite RPG's of all time, next to Final Fantasy 5 & 7. _________________ -Follow me on Twitch.tv-

well, guys, i read a couple days ago that we would be getting some more information today. and we are. too bad it's in Japanese...
www.chronotrigger.jp
here we've got a Japanese trailer for the game, and at the end, there's info about the game, but it's in Japanese. translation, anyone?
also, it looks like no graphics overhaul. looks like just a port with a couple things added. it didn't show any of the FMV's in the trailer, either. i don't know, but maybe Squeenix is screwing us over. _________________ just call me xfyre. not xfyrethespooky. |

The game's been already announced to be nothing but a port of the Chrono Trigger game, just with touchscreen menu options in the bottom screen, same graphics, no revamp there what so ever, and a couple more secret dungeons. Cutscenes from the PSX version stay at a "likely" part, since with compression and considering that the real game data was (like, what, 4MBs?) not a lot, they'll manage to fill up a 128MB cart or even a 64MB one.
Never liked the game much myself, so it just passed by as yawn-worthy to me. >_> *shrugs* _________________ SPOILER:

Since I never played the game back when it was released during the later days of the Super NES era (how I missed it continues to elude me even though I did have knowledge of its existence), it doesn't really bother me if it's either an exact port or a remake as it will be a new experience for me either way. Having it appear in the same way that it did back then will please nostalgia fans although people looking for more than just a port might end up being disappointed. _________________ --Official Nintendo.com Sage even without the actual forums being there-- |

yeah, i mean, i've played through it a couple times already. i'd be willing to have better graphics. and, it's not like they can't do it, either. like DanSidney said, the original ROM is only 4 MB. that's not a whole lot, particularly if they put it on a much bigger cart.
a friend of mine said that Chrono Trigger originally was going to have a lot more playable characters, like Cyrus, but the cart was too small to fit that stuff on. i wouldn't mind seeing the story and playable characters that they had to cut out either. _________________ just call me xfyre. not xfyrethespooky. |

I'm pretty sure that was just a rumour...there was an extra junk data sprite in one of the ROM rips someone did, but it wasn't intended to be playable. Since FF6, with a longer story, just as intricate graphics and 12 playable characters. came out the same year, I doubt they bothered to cut anyone that wasn't in the original script.
And while one area was cut from the final version (which was in the prerelease), I don't believe it was left out for space purposes. _________________ One of the three EXE sisters! *Armstrong-style pose*

i don't know, that's just what someone told me. i'm not sure it's true, but, that's what he said.
i wonder what this new dungeon is going to be like? is it going to be something you do after you beat the game, or what? _________________ just call me xfyre. not xfyrethespooky. |

Nom nom nom. Working on the translation. Sorry it's slow as there's a lot of kanji.
Here's the promo part.
13 years have passed.
Now, once again, "time" is moving.
[chrono, marl, lucca]
To the forgotten past.
[kaeru, eira]
To the faraway future.
[robo]
And to the furthest limit of time...
They went beyond space and time.
The curtain will open on a big adventure.
2008 winter

Squeeeee <3 So VERY excited about this :D :D Chrono Trigger is and will always be, my most favourite game ever. I remember BEGGING my parents for this game back when it was initially released.
I'll be first in line to pre-order this one. <3 _________________ "Cats are interesting. They're kind of like girls. When they come talk to you, it's great. When you go talk to them, it doesn't go so well." - Miyamoto

Yeah, it's my favourite game too. :D Even FF6 ranks below Chrono Trigger on my charts!
Here's my super-vague translation of the info on the website.
This work was sold in 1995 as a “Super Famicom” exclusive title. It is a completely ported edition of the original Chrono Trigger.
Production is in progress to perfect it for the Nintendo DS. Furthermore, there will be additions of a new system and dungeons which will utilize the double screens. The planned release will be winter 2008.
Chrono Trigger
Platform: Nintendo DS
Genre: RPG (Role-Playing Game)
Players: 1 person (1~4 people)
Release Day: Winter 2008
[some other difficult to read, seemingly inconsequential kanji]
