*sigh* Time for more copy/pasta.
Quote: | What... the... Mett?
What is SEGA and Sonic Team thinking? Sonic's a speedy blue hedgehog with razor-sharp quills who trounces his enemies with his speed and laughs in their faces as he does it. He doesn't need to be packing any sort of weapon, firearm or no. This is just atrocious, and quite ludicrous. All it does is show that SEGA has no idea what the Blue Blur stands for anymore, and is just frantically trying one stupid idea after the other in hopes that something'll click.
And I think this makes it official. The only way that Sonic will ever gain some respect again is if we forcibly pry him from SEGA's grasp. No iconic character should ever have to be reduced to such absurdity.
I did find the Black Knight bit to be ironic. I've been edging away from Sonic and into Fire Emblem for quite some time now. Now SEGA goes and steals PoR's thunder and at the same time pushes me entirely into the Fire Emblem camp. The real Black Knight would probably be entirely unimpressed with whatever loony substitute SEGA comes up with.
Adios, Sonic and Mega Man, it was nice knowing you.
By the way, go look at the article 'A History of Sonic According to IGN'. I think that sums it all up quite nicely... |
On another note, some have pointed out that this could be a Sonic and the Secret Rings sequel- which explains the appearance of a sword. Instead of beingr transported to the Arabian Nights, he gets warped to some medieval legend. But even if so, the fact that Sonic's slinging steel doesn't fit his motif at all. He didn't need a weapon in the first game, so why would he require one in a sequel? _________________

If that game reveals to be a Secret Rings sequel, I'll be very happy in my pants. _________________ SPOILER:

Understandable if its a Secret Rings sequeal. But who came up with the idea? (By idea I mean the person and not the company)
And whats with the comment of saying Adios Megaman..He has nothing to do with sonic.

So it IS a secret rings sequel. "Storybook series".
I'll take Sonic in a storybook anytime over Sonic fighting a multidimensional demon that consumes time and space.
Aided by a hedgehog from future with psychic powers.
And getting kisses by a human woman.
The fact it uses both wiimote and nunchuck though may be troublesome... _________________ SPOILER:

Well that was unavoidable for the Nunchuck and Wii mote. It is a sequeal..Then I don't have a problem..though..I still don't think he needs a sword to fight>_>...
Heck the ring didnt do anything except give him abilitys which was handle very well. |

I can imagine them pulling an Unleashed and have some Acts being Secret Rings style gameplay, and others being hack-n-slash.
They'll probably come up with a remix of Seven Rings in Hand or something like that. I can never escape the catchy-ness of that song. _________________ ' I don't care if the buzz isn't real- I can roleplay being drunk!'

Since it's in the King Arthur stories, I'm more ok with that. Since I did get Secret Rings. This could be something of that level. Kind of like SR and the Riders games. Fun, just not huge hits. Which is pretty good but please, no game play like SR. |

Pics and stuff. http://www.gamekyo.com/news28343_sonic-and-the-black-knight-first-pics.html Here's the quick-an'-dirty.
-Storybook device from Secret Rings; produced by same team.
-Use the sword, Calibur, to cut down enemies as you run along. Hack 'n slash at high speeds.
-'Good deeds, and 'Bad' deeds will be tallied.
-Calibur can be used to aid in manuverability, like stabbing it into a wall to slow down.
-Branching paths in each stage.
-Occasional 2D segments.
-Some of the other characters will cameo like in Secret Rings, and some are playable. Knuckles and Shadow confirmed playable.
-The development team is fully aware of the franchise's missteps, and want to do things right. _________________ ' I don't care if the buzz isn't real- I can roleplay being drunk!'

At least it wasn't all botched. Some of the similar gameplay is visible. Now I'm looking forward to it. _________________ As a Deviant, I work alone on my projects.

One can only wonder. Granted, Sonic games have had multiple playable characters during the Genesis years and been successful, but with all the stumbles they've made for the past half-decade, maybe they should stick with making sure they make a good Sonic game and not a Sonic/Knuckles/Shadow game for a little while... _________________ Stuck In The Middle With You; a Metroid and Halo crossover

Its basically Shadow the Hedgehog 2.0... and this team is supposedly aware of "Sonic's missteps in recent years?" _________________

Sonic wielding a talking sword named Calibur in a medieval setting sounds a lot better than Shadow wielding an Uzi while taking on aliens in an ultra-urban one. _________________ ' I don't care if the buzz isn't real- I can roleplay being drunk!'

Yes. Technically that was a Shadow game and not a Sonic game.
But I will be following this with rapt attention. Rapt! Seriously though, I will end up buying this as well. |

Sonic wielding a sword in order to defeat his enemies....now this is something that I didn't see coming considering that he's often relied on his own natural abilities excluding the use of the Chaos Emeralds. It's a good thing that I'm a big fan of sword and sorcery style of adventures for this new game does have my interests geared towards it. I'll need to take a closer look at this issue once I get my hands on it. _________________ --Official Nintendo.com Sage even without the actual forums being there-- |

Yeah. Knuckles uses two swords which should be interesting while I'm guessing Shadow will use Magic. He seems like he'd be a magic user wouldn't he. |
