The comprehensive anniversary artbook published in Japan this year, will be brought to us in english by Udon, the folks who just released the Zero Complese Works book! Announced personally by Udon at Otakon 2008, we're all really excited to see another Rockman/Megaman book come to the US.
They also mentioned interest in translating the various Rockman mangas, including the Zero and various Classic or X mangas, but copyright factors are the main issue right now with either the original publisher in Japan or the artists themselves. However, they haven't forgotten them, which is still good news!
Udon also expressed interest in releasing an all new american Megaman comic/manga, much like the one put out by Dreamwave. However, they seem to think it best to wait awhile longer so there is more of a pause between the not-so-successful Dreamwave versions, and what they may plan to put out on their own. So perhaps further in the future, we can see something fresh and new!
Special thanks to Udon for their news, and also for their generous donation of a Zero Complete Works book for our Megaman panel raffle! Kudos! _________________ "Cats are interesting. WHY OH WHY DID I SPEND $75 FOR THE JAPANESE VERSION?! Joking. Very excellent news and I'm totally willing to shell out the cash to actually understand things this time around.
With how the Classic and X mangas had those different Chinese versions after such a short time, I wonder what the big Copyright issue really is about. Or how much Ariga/Iwamoto/Ikehara are demanding in compensation.
The last Dreamwave issue was 6 years ago this December! Dear Lord, how long of a "pause" do they need? LOL, but that sounds like a cool idea, too. I'm definitely eager for new artwork from the Udon team! _________________ Avatar art thanks to toberboobap, animated gif thanks to Dr. Wily II

Why has everyone paid a ridiculous amount for the JP version? Didn't it retail for like 3,000 yen?
Marisa, you bought in in Japan y/n? D: _________________ One of the three EXE sisters! *Armstrong-style pose*

I believe that says 3,200 up there...Don't have my HQ scan on me at the moment:
It's because many of us tried to get our hands on it right away when it released and that's what it was going for with shipping. Play-Asia was already out of stock on the first day when I tried ordering; but with shipping, their price was still about $60-something total, I believe. I nabbed mine on eBay since I had no patience. And it was like $47, plus shipping was about $27. Most on eBay now still go for that or more. We can't help that we have to pay those excessive fees put there by sellers taking advantage of us, unlike somebody who is in Japan... _________________ Avatar art thanks to toberboobap, animated gif thanks to Dr. Wily II

I would have bought it in Japan, had I known it existed XD My fault for not being on top of things. |
Ah, understood. :p
Admittedly, when we first saw it (Ryouko, Nobi, Pyo, Zippo and me) in a bookstore in Tokyo, we were like "huh, what's that?" and NOT ONE OF US BOUGHT IT.

"Huh, a giant book with Rockman's face on it," muttered Ryouko, webmistress of a very large and prominent Rockman website and commuity, "I think I'll just skip over that one for now!"
^--- something like that, I presume? XD _________________

Yeah, not sure what we were thinking there, really. u.u;; Mayhaps because we were all jet lagged? _________________ One of the three EXE sisters! *Armstrong-style pose*

That would make perfect sense. Jetlagging does do things to people. Sometimes worse. |

I honestly thought it was something that had been released a long time ago. XD I had no idea that book was coming out, so I didn't think twice about it. After someone told me what it was while I was still in Japan, I never saw the stupid thing again to buy it. XD _________________ "Cats are interesting. They're kind of like girls.
