I may be one of the only people who didn't like Air. Good music, just didn't like the show. Kanon's better but I haven't been able to finish it.
Right now since I haven't seen any of these types of anime recently, I've been watch H2O Footprints in the sand. It's ok. The character of Hajime is....something.
But on my queue is Zero's familiar season 1 and 2. And I'm probably one of the only people who still watch Adult Swim. Since I have a DVR I can watch Geass.

The first episode of Tower of Druaga is the most hilarious thing I've ever seen. XD I've seen up to episode 8 so far, but I can't get the subtitles to work on my downloaded copies to finish the series. :/

The new fall season has since started, and I've picked up Tales of the Abyss (surprise) and Vampire Knight Guilty. :)

Surprise indeed. Surprised

For my picks this season, let me go ahead and elaborate a bit, I suppose.

Vampire Knight: Guilty: Picked up because I picked up the first season. I've since gotten a little lost and/or confused by some of the nuances of the story and the more subvert themes that are running through, but it's always amusing to follow the story and wonder how politics and/or bureaucracy will come in and throw a wrench into Yuuki's position.
Grade: B

Nodame Cantabile: ~Paris-hen~: An anime that actually can make you feel more cultured. Really! I've always been a closet fan of classical music, and this series had never failed to put a smile on my face--and it does not stop doing so here. The main characters are off to Paris to pursue their dreams in classical music--and watching the lead pair banter with each other as well as the other characters makes for a good story, peppered with bouts of wonderful comedy. Nodame's air-headness, Chiaki's obsession with perfection muddled with his frank honesty, and the other characters that are introduced along the way make this a winner in my book. Granted, it is running for a mere 11, but that's better than nothing.
Grade: A

To Aru Majutsu no Index: In a world where ESP and magic are two mutually exclusive entities, we encounter a boy down on his luck, who seems to have the odd ability of using his right arm to cancel most spells and other paraphernalia that is cast upon him. One morning he wakes up to find a young English nun draped neatly on his balcony, who contains the full text of 103,000 books that the Catholic church has forbidden you to read. Fun! Eventually, they both start their journey through hell, which seems appropriate given the situation. I am liking this so far, even with the lack of prominent seiyu--other than say, Rina Satou or Kimiko Koyama. The concept seems to be somewhat novel, and the chemistry between the main characters seems to have an attractive power to it--I'm finding myself oddly drawn to them. The viewers have also been thrust into the action rather quickly, and the episode where it is featured seems new and interesting. Could be a sleeper pick.
Grade: B+

Toradora!: Poor Ryuuji is down on his luck--despite his gentle and easygoing personality, he has the look of a delinquent which he cannot remove--and thus cannot pick up any girls. Sigh. As he enters the new year of school, he encounters a one Taiga--dubbed "the palm-sized tiger" for her stature and fiery temper. They both eventually discover that not only do they live within a stone's throw of each other, but they are also infatuated with the other party's best friend. How convenient! To that end, they form a strategic alliance, but what if said alliance could lead to something else...and that's the question that has been pervading the entire season so far. This is most certainly a keeper--the action in this romantic comedy/slice of life piece seems to be faster than others in its category, and its humor is oddly effective. Rie Kugimiya is at the helm of this one, and her character seems to incorporate one part Louise (maybe two), one part Shana (maybe two again), and rolls them into a package the size and appearance of Chiaki Minami. As such, expect much tsundere, but as it's early, give her time to soften up. The chemistry between the leads here is oddly refreshing, given Ryuji's calm nature and Taiga's willingness to beat the crap out of anything to set things straight. Most certainly a keeper.
Grade: A

Clannad: ~After Story~: Continuing where the previous Key work left off, the story focuses on Nagisa and Tomoya and how they've started to date. Honestly, nothing more can be said about the story summary--that's pretty much it. It still follows the Clannad formula very well--peppers in random comedic scenes throughout a story dominated by the main heroines and their interactions with the minor characters. Sunohara, the lead's bumbling sidekick, is as amusing as ever, as he continues to go to great lengths to prove that he is not completely useless. If you liked what Clannad did, you'll like this--it is more of the same. The entire star-studded cast from the original carries over to this season, and the work is again done by Kyoto Animation--famed for their other Key works and Haruhi--so expect the quality to be possibly the highest it can go. The main difference here is that the series seems to focus on the minor characters now, so it may be slightly weaker in that respect, but it still is a refreshing change of pace to see how the stars of the original series take a back seat this time and see how they interact with the minor characters that go throughout. Definitely worth a loo, but not before watching the original Clannad--go watch that and then come back.
Grade: B+

I've heard of all but the third one. I have stuff to work through so I may not watch any of those. At least yet.

Tower of Druaga is about a legendary demon name Druaga who once terrorises the land by sending down monsters 60 years ago.

The king of the village was the only warrior who has succefully defeated the demon and destroy the tower that had over 60 floors.

Now 60 years later. Monsters have now been falling into the village, now theifs that are called "Climbers" will try anything to get money and survive by doing jobs and missions.

I can't remember much>< Only watch all the episodes in one day, need to watch them again. I'm tryign not to spoil the anime. I've watched all episodes at a site called crunchy roll. They have an entire index of Animes.

I've wrapped up D.Grayman and Samurai Champloo, I've picked up Last Exile to watch when I have the time. I've experienced first hand the infamous GONZO CG. Lord does that stuff stand out, though it is implemented better than, say, Greiga and Falzar were in Beast.

I've only seen the first episode, and their way of waging war is really odd. First the enemy airships line up broadside like they're about to open artillery fire point blank, but instead both sides line up soldiers on exterior platforms and they take turns shooting at each other with steam powered muskets. Once enough die in this asinine manner, then they open cannon fire. Weird, but the steampunk setting intrigues me, and it and college work will keep me occupied while the One Piece anime is on a two-week break.

I'm thinking of adding Toward the Terra to my queue, as I can never have enough science fiction.

I'm confused, isn't this topic supposed to be about the Fall 2008 season - as in, things currently airing on Japanese TV - rather than about older shows that we personally have been watching?

*shrug*

Izu, I changed the topic title only because it was six months old. It was sticking out like a sore thumb to me, and I felt the need to fix it.

Nevertheless, when I first posted the topic some six months ago, I intended for it to be just that--a discussion of what was currently on television in Japan and what was hot in the pipe for subs. Now it's devolved a bit into general discussion and somewhat useless banter (I think you know who I am referring to), so perhaps we should create another topic...

Even if you changed it, "Fall 2008 Anime Season" sound pretty "what's on thw air right now" specific to me. :P
