Well, for those of you who like/can eat chocolate, anyway, you'll probably be more inclined to be interested in this. xD So, today is my little brother's birthday, so yesterday I made him a cake. But, of course, he wanted it made a certain way. He wanted it to be ALL chocolate , two layers, with chocolate pudding in the middle... Also two layers of chocolate frosting. xD
It was very good, but also very filling, so I definitely couldn't have a lot of it...
But, what kind of cakes/desserts does everyone like? =) _________________ My art blog: http://annamariacoppi.blogspot.com/

Crepes :D I never had one until I went to Japan, and now back in the states I can't find one damn place that sells them. :< _________________ "Cats are interesting. They're kind of like girls. When they come talk to you, it's great. When you go talk to them, it doesn't go so well." - Miyamoto

That's too bad, because they're quite delicious. I go to the Crepe restaurant in my town once or twice a week, depending on if I'm in the mood for something tasty. o.o
I especially like this one chocolate nutella crepe they have, and I order it with cream cheese. A weird combination, but I find it delicious, especially topped off with whip cream. Mmmm...
I also love the eclairs the bakery sell right around the corner from the restaurant. They're so delicious. <3 _________________

I'm a man who loves his chocolate. I'll eat it in almost any form.
I also love Oreos (though that's technically a form of chocolate, as well). As a result, my favorite ice cream flavor is cookies & creme.
Hmm. I guess as far as variety goes, my sweet tooth is on par with L's. _________________

lemon meringue pie, tarts of all kinds (I had these really tasty but ridiculously overpriced fruit tarts in a con a few months ago), cheesecake, and pancakes with ice cream.

I also enjoy eating Halo-Halo, a Filipino summer dessert my mom makes out of scratch that usually uses Filipino ingredients like cocnut gel, shaved ice, jackfruit, and many more items. _________________ As a Deviant, I work alone on my projects.

I don't care much for red bean paste actually, I like my taiyaki with custard, cream cheese, caramel or chocolate. :D Especially custard! _________________ One of the three EXE sisters! *Armstrong-style pose*

Well, the best dessert I've had is tiramisu. Before you ask, no, it's not a Japanese dessert despite the name. It's actually Italian.
Anyways, tiramisu is basically custard on top of bread soaked in espresso. With cinnamon covering the whole top. You can't say it's not good until you've tried it, trust me. Look for it in your local Italian resturants, lor something like Olive Garden, they're sure to have it on the dessert menu. :D _________________ MegaMan Kilobit

I'm Italian myself, so I know exactly what that is. xD In fact, I just made some over the weekend to take to a family Christmas party. My dad likes to put in double the amount of brandy that his recipe calls for, so it's pretty strong... I can't eat a lot of it, even though it's super good, it's just a bit on the strong side for me. @_@
Speaking of Italian food, though, have you ever tasted Cialde before? (I'm really not sure if that's how you spell it, but it's a super thin cookie that you can make with fruit peel. =3 I've only made it with orange and lemon, though... Really good with hot chocolate, none the less. xD
@Ryouko- Ah, I've had that before. =D I've seen them before being sold at French and European-type restaurants here in California. Can't think of any specific names of the restaurants, though... They're pretty easy to make, though, so you could probably try making some yourself if you find a recipe. =3 _________________ My art blog: http://annamariacoppi.blogspot.com/

I like doughnuts just plain old glazed doughnuts, they aren't anything really special, but you still gotta love them. |

I don't eat a lot of sweets, but one of my guilty pleasures is just taking dark chocolate and Vitamin Water together.
However,I've fallen in love with the following combination:
B6 pill, one packet of Emergen-C,2 drops of liquid Vitamin B,lemon juice all mixed into a bottle of Vitamin Water.Yummy.
I'm a health nut,so yeah...^^; _________________ Things are going to be changing soon in the next few months.Stay tuned for updates and the like. |

What's with all these people using colored text all of a sudden? My eyes, they bleed.
In any event, there are so many good deserts. Too many to just pidgeonhole by naming one the "best." You've got blanc manger, spotted dick, crema catalana, cannelés bordelais, marzipan, noughat, lokum, daifukumochi, pişmaniye, laddu, pączki... too much to list, really.

I don't think I've ever really seen them served as desert. Not sure how the Japanese eat their version of it, though.

If it contains chocolate or some kind of fruit and sweets, it can qualify as a dessert. :P _________________ "Cats are interesting. They're kind of like girls. When they come talk to you, it's great. When you go talk to them, it doesn't go so well." - Miyamoto

Ah, I see where you're coming from. I could see it going either way, really. In the context of crêpes or pancakes, I've always seen it as a breakfast thing.
Izumi wrote: | Before Japan, I only ever saw them served as desserts. ^^; | Go figure. That certainly cleared things up a bit. So I take it crêpes have largely been spared Japanification, were they? _________________ *placeholder* |
