Heh heh, I just got my acceptance letter to Otis College of Art and Design this afternoon when I came home from school, and I'm really really happy about it! ^^ I've been stressing over it for MANY weeks, so I'm glad to get that off my chest. ^^U I was surprised to get it so early... I was expecting to get a letter from them in March. xD I think I almost has a heart attack when I got it... @_@

Still not 100% sure that I'll be going there, because of the cost issues and such, but, I'm just glad I was able to get in! ^^;

So, what about anyone else out there who's in high school/college level? This is about the time of year students get letters from Universities and/or other colleges, and start making those oh-so-important decisions about where to go for school...

Congratulations to you! ^_^ Getting into the college you want is so very important. I wasn't able to go to the college of my choice since I couldn't afford it. ^_^; But now maybe it's not so bad since I'm paying off a cheaper student loan. XD

But as a fellow art student, I tell you good luck! It's a very fun degree to work for. ^_^

:D Awesome! Congrats!!

I wanted to be an art student so badly and become a cartoonist... but the animation world is so competitive these days, so I'm getting a BA in Anthropology first. But congrats to you, Linkfreak! Kudos for choosing to follow your dreams. :3 I wish you the best!!

Congratulations, Link.

As Ryouko said, it's often hard to get into the college of your choice. And it's also hard to get into THE ideal program. But in the end, it's all worth it.

Once again, congratulations and I wish you the very best in your post-secondary education.

Not sure how exactly the American education system works at a tertiary level, but regardless; I can only echo the thoughts of others. But remember, if you find it doesn't turn out what you want don't be afraid to change if you can. There's no point studying something that you do not enjoy. Life and work should ideally be fun as well as tough or busy.

Congrats ^^ Getting admitted to such a school can be pretty tricky.

I was admitted to one art academy, but kicked out after a year because I wasn't good enough (and because I liked manga... XD). And another just didn't admit me at all. But if it really is what you want, I say go for it a 100% ^v^

I am a second year student at University, so I guess High School is way behind me XD

that's not good...some colleges can be pretty tough i guess.

I don't exactly understand why art teachers don't like anime/manga so much. It's still considered an art form- you still have to put the effort and creativity into it ^^.
My graphic arts teacher told my i really shouldn't do anything anime-related because it was "cheesy". but i still do it at home anyway XD.

I'm still just a High School Sophomore ^_^ (which probably means "wise fool" in latin XD).

One thing I really like about Otis is that they consider anime/manga an art form. ^^ I know most art schools don't like that sort of thing, so I thought that was really interesting that they did. =0

Wow! I wish my artschool was like yours ^^ At mine, they were just a bunch of hypocrits who said that "we should stand open to ANYTHING as art" but shoo me away as soon as manga was involved. It was the kind of artschool where the motto should be: "the more gross/shocking the artwork, the more art-ish it is"

Hope you will have a good time there at Otis ^v^ Being an artstudent won't be easy all the time, but it is an interesting experience.

Art is subjective. What some think is art, you can think of lazy BS. This mostly applies to modern art but still.

I'm an art major myself and believe me,it is hard to find a degree that goes with what I'd love to do.

I'd love to make manga comics for you guys to read. However,I'm settling for a Graphic Design major. It's not what I would want, but it should help me get on the path to making the comics.
