Otakon 2009 - Look... at that horse!

Agh! Has anyone else had trouble finding a hotel to book to stay at next year? That hotel booking system the Otakon website added never finds me any at all. Hotel is more or less the deciding factor if Zia and I can go again next year or not, but I'm not having any luck finding anything... does anyone have any suggestions for us or anything? ><;

You have to book the second the dates for the next year is released, or hotels sell out. In this year's case, we booked it while we were still at the con this year

God, I've missed you guys. 2006 was too long ago, and missing two years of craziness really sucked... but I'm actually going to be there this year!

Definitely changing my cosplay this year, though... I'm personally torn between Laika and R-Searchman (could do both, possibly, depending...) but I'm not flogging the dead horse by cosplaying the Good Doctor, Yuuichiro again. Two years with a crappy shirt is enough.

Suggestions? PLEEASE?

Oh, god, just doing the gun would be a pain. Everything else, only as hard as it is to make it look rigid and NOT make it hard to get into/out of.

Got my schedule for the new school year today. The term ends for me on July 19, and I don't think I could pull off a transcontinental flight in time to make it to the con. :\ A miracle might happen for the second year in a row but I'm not really counting on it as I have to be in California for a wedding the following weekend...unless the bride and groom are going to Otakon as well (that's where they met and also where he proposed as some of you may recall from last year) in which case I would happily accept such a fate. Seems like domestic flights in the U.S. are decently cheap. It's probably still a 95% no, though.

Okay, I know I *might* be able to find the appropriate wig for a Laika cosplay here on the lovely island of Oahu, but I don't know if I will. So, here's an open call: I'm willing to compensate anyone who might have one that they're willing to part with. Barring that, being pointed in the right direction would be nice too ^_^.

If all goes well, my Laika will debut at this year's Kawaii-Kon, leaving time to work on R-Searchman's parts...

Well its official! I got my hotel reserved so I will be seeing all of you again this year. The one thing I dont wanna do is miss out on an Otakon, you guys are some of the few friends I actually have and I enjoy hanging with all of you

I am going to start getting together the info for our hotel rooms this weekend. If you roomed in one of my two rooms last year, please send me a PM to confirm whether or not you are attending this year. Those who were with us last year get first dibs on room space this year. :)

I have added the list to the first post of this thread so it will be easy to keep track of. I will add room prices as soon as I can figure those out and confirm the number of people per room. We are suppossed to have large business rooms this year since the con block sold out too fast, that are stated to hold at least five people normally.

Ryouko, is there any room for one or two lone Rockman fans? I've booked a room myself, but usually can only convince one friend to come down with me. Which is starting to get really expensive; the hotels are getting smart knowing we're a captive audience. Mad

If not, might be looking for people to share the one I've got booked.

We are overly full already, so I'm afraid not. :/ I'd hold onto your hotel room though, since almost everything is sold out now. You could always put a post out on the otakon forum boards to look for roomies. :3
