It was inevitable, DS remakes of the second generation Pokemon games have been announced for Fall 2009 in Japan. I remember how hotly the original games were anticipated way back when, and today many regard that generation as the best one. Indeed, it had a lot of stuff, Johto, Kanto revisited, Red, and so forth.
I didn't get Platinum, but I think I'll definitely snatch this one up upon its eventual English release date. I don't care if I'll be 20 by then, the Pokemon games are still a boatload of fun, and my old sure-kill Typhlosion/Polywrath combo is already raring to go again. _________________ ' I don't care if the buzz isn't real- I can roleplay being drunk!'

It can certainly be argued that G/S was the best generation. For one, there wasn't any of the absurd "There can only exist 150 Pokemon in the game until you beat the Elite Four" nonsense that stunted the later games (FR/LG, D/P, I'm lookin at you); there was a much wider variety of Pokemon that could be found earlier on. (Hell, did any other game give you the opportunity to catch a Gastly before even the first gym?) With both Johto and Kanto, it had one of the largest game worlds of the series, not to mention a whopping 16 gyms to challenge, so there was a lot of content you could work through. I imagine with a remake, not to mention a DS remake, they'll take the opportunity to cram even more stuff into such a large space.
Sure, the story may've been little to write home about (Team Rocket, follows up their takeover of a powerful and highly advanced R&D company with...the conquest of a radio station? And for the express purpose of calling their boss to come back to them? I was 12 when I played that game for the first time and even then I thought that was just sad), but when have Pokemon games really been about the story? _________________ Stuck In The Middle With You; a Metroid and Halo crossover

Oh man, I can't wait. I'm really hoping they don't pull something stupid and be like "LOLZ HAY GUYZ ITS PINBALL AGAIN" or something, but I don't see why they would. The notch-eared Pichu and the Johto starters being in the new movie as heroes or whatever seems rather far-fetched (no pun intended) for it to be something other than GSDS.
It will be awesome. <3 |

I just hope that they will restore the Safari Zone in Kanto. The maps of it were in the original G/S, but they didn't use them. So now is the perfect time do so.
Things I want:
- GS ball without going to a Nintendo Event.
- Battle Giovanni, I always wanted to know WHERE he was training, perhaps in the permenantly closed underground path?
- Stronger Kanto gym leaders. They were "weak" compared to the E4.
- The "Silver" aka Rival is Giovanni's son (from the manga).
- E4 Round 2 & Red Round 2
- Rebatlle every gym leader
- Something cool to do after defeating Red. (NO SEVII ISLANDS!!!) |

Oh yeah. I've been sitting around on the Livejournal Pokemon community waiting for this for a while, yep. Pretty stoked for this, even if they didn't go with the names I thought of...oh well. The logos are pretty cool. _________________ Avatar by triltaison on LJ.

Well, this was obvious. And yeah. Some of this is needed. I wonder if I'll get this. I missed out on Fire/Leaf. I'll have to see what it has in it. |

Hmm, I never played G/S but I did have Crystal [which was basically the same, wasn't it?]. I've wanted the PKMN games back then to have a 3D, or even a pseudo-3D look [that D/P now have]. This is going to be great.
OT: On another note [since this is a Rockman forum], I wonder when there are going to be MMBN remakes for the DS. You know it's gonna happen. _________________ Avatar by Tabby (of my NetNavi, GuincoolMind.EXE) : : :

serebii.net has a picture of the main character being followed by a Chikorita in New Bark Town.
Could it be that they will return the "pokemon follwing you" like what they did in Pokemon Yellow with Pikachu? (I know it was in D/P/Pt in the park, but this seems like the entire game!) |

A new picture shows Cindaquil following the player in Ecruteak City, so it will definately follow you the entire game.
Not sure if it follows you when it evolves though.... |

Well it'd be cool if you could ride on them. Think about it. It could be like a bike only different. Like you could ride through tall grass and snow. |

It wasn't just inevitable, it was expected. Looking through the resource data of P/D/Pla, one of the strings data of the pokémon encounter was "from Johto".
Also I hope they get rid of the timed events in the game, seriously. -.- Or at least make them better. I liked the idea, but it was frustrating needing an agenda just to be able to play through some segments of the game. Expecially for people who'd pick up the game every now and then during their free time like me. And being able to make only ONE special ball per day, necessarily having to wait 24 hours o'clock.
At least I'm sure the berries would be better, with the system from the advance games. _________________ SPOILER:

I've seen a movie with the New Bark Town music. I hope it isn't the final version. I doesn't sound so good.
I think the first hint for a G/S remake would have been the D/P intro with the Red Gyarados. And Jasmine in Sunnyshore of course
I hope they will add something better this time. Most of the sevii islands were useless imo. |

Kyogre, Groudon, and Rayquaza will all be obtainable. (what)
There will also be an event for Arceus and a level 1 Palkia, Dialga, or Giratina. (what)
Looks like Jirachi will also play a role. Downloadable?
According to sources.

Heh, Silver's new hairdo makes him look like he's Mars's son. Hmm....
Oh, and boxart...

I noticed the Mars/Silver thing as well. He also looks a lot like Roark. O_o;; Not Giovanni's son after all? But... how old are Mars and Roark? >_>
Box art is slightly disappointing, since I happen to think a certain fake box art looks cooler, but it's still pretty nice nonetheless. |

It can't be Mars or Roark. Mars possibly but this is GS so it's Team Rocket. Although, it seems you can get so many legendaries. |

About Groudon/Kyogre/Rayqauza.
Translators said that Groudon is Heart Gold only and Kyogre is Soul Silver only. Having both in one game unlocks Rayquaza.
Jirachi will be given away in the near future, so you can get it for d/p/pt. But when you transfer it from d/p/pt to HG/SS, it will unlock a new unknown area.
It makes me wonder if HG/SS will surpass Plainum with most legendaries?
Platinum: Dialga/Palkia/Girantina/Mesprit/Uxie/Azelf/Acreus/Regirock/Regice/Registeel/Regigigas/Heatran/Cresellia/Darkrai/Manaphy/Shaymin(Phione)/Articuno/Zapdos/Moltres = 19 legendaries.
HG/SS:
Lugia/Ho-oh/Groudon/Kyogre/Rayqauza/Raikou/Entei/Suicune/Jirachi/Dialga/Girantina/Palkia/Celebi = 13 (so far) in the game data (of which you can only have 11, becuase you have to choose between the Sinnoh Dragon trio)
The Hoenn legendaries are probably because the DSi doesn't have GBA support, so I am geussing/hoping that Mew, Mewtwo and Deoxys will also be in the games. |
