There's a similar word in Spanish. I can't seem to remember what it is or what it translates to exactly. Oh well.

I don't think he'll find it: I've heard it from my sister, and I think she invented it _________________ Sardinia is not Italy!

You never know, invented words usually come from real word roots. |

This is an edit/update on my old RockMan.exe picture I had drawn a couple of months ago. I fixed the tectures of his face (It actually looked pretty scary up close. D; ), added much needed highlight, and I added a way better background.
Still not 100% happy with the face, but it'll do for right now; I can always edit it again later. =)
Just click it for a bigger view. =) The coloring looks a lot more crisp, too, in full view.
Edit: Annnnnnnnnd wallpaper-type version.

Since The MegaMan Network's contest is over now, I can post this up here for you guys to see. ^^ This was my entry for their 2009 summer contest. It was my first time ever drawing Geo before, so I had to go online and try and find his character ref. sheet to use, since I didn't really remember what he looked like by heart. xD lol
And, of course, you can always click on it for the DA link, so you can full-view it, if you'd like. =)
It didn't end up winning anything, though. Better luck next time, I suppose. ^^U I did try some new experiments while I was coloring this, so I got to learn some new ways of coloring through doing this piece, however. =3 The clouds, for example, were entirely experimental, but I really liked how they came out.

Okay I know that this forum isn't exactly festering in activity, but could you please give more of your opinion than just two words? Technically that's spamming. _________________

It is not spamming. I have nothing else to say. No nitpicks, no insights because I don't have art skills. Just encouragement. |

Yeah, I have the problem too. So I just try not to say anything if it's under 5 or so words. But about the picture, Nice work. It must be really hot. I wonder how Warrock is taking it. |

On-topic: Though you didn't win something from the contest, you've won my appreciation for its definition of summer I find unusual these days. There are tough times we all have with the hot sun, but you know it all.
The clouds are decent and doesn't bother me at all, while the shades are well placed though contradict to the sun's position. Then again, this image deviates from its complete realism, by my understanding.
So, that's a great work you've made! |

So not telling the author I like the art is better than a simple thumbs up?
Would you rather I put:
"Wow this is really good. I enjoyed it. Please draw more, I want to see -insert request here-. Now I'm going to blab about how I love the shading even though I didn't even notice it and then maybe pepper in some emoticons for good measure."
That would just be needless reading. There's nothing wrong with two word posts when they convey the message. Bringing it up caused more spam than just letting the compliment go. |

You know, for as truly unique as your more realistic-faced drawings are, I really do like your more traditional anime style very much.
The coloring in your entry turned out really nice; even something as little as that swirly design on the bottom of the chair was a neat detail. You got Subaru down good for the first time. His new-age futuristic table reminds me of a public park water fountain or birdbath. Of course, that's good imagery for the summer anyhow. Or is that just what they use for home decor in the future? Thanks for all the comments, everyone. =)
On that conversation about saying two or more words or not. Yeah, a nice little comment like that is nice every once in awhile, but I do like the long comments much better, especially if they point out what I could improve on, or what they think about it as a whole, or whatever else they have to say about it. Two worded comments are just kinda "Meh" to me. Nice, but just Meh.
@RT-fact- Summer has always meant to me extremely hot weather, which includes sweating. I usually just sit outside on a long chair and fan myself, or something, whenever it's hot, so I figured Subaru might do the same.
@Miyabi- lol I really don't even know what I was thinking when I designed that table. xD To me, circles=futurist, so I guess that's what I had in mind. It has reminded me of a drinking fountain, too, though, ever since I added in that extra circle down at the bottom. xD _________________ My art blog: http://annamariacoppi.blogspot.com/

*late*

The thing is, short comments like "looks good" doesn't have any meaning besides simple praise. Comments can also be taken as proportional to the amount of time you spent looking at it. Oh sure, you could mean a lot by those two words, but to many, it's incredibly hollow. What about it looks great? What part of it do you like a lot? Short "simple thumbs up" comments can be good for a very, VERY small ego boost, but generally artists do appreciate more detailed comments. I don't mind the short posts Unknown Neo is allegedly guilty of because they actually relate to the piece they accompany.
With that said and to avoid turning this into a heated debate... The summer piece. Oh boy, like what RT said, that is the definition of summer: lazing around because it's way too hot (though why the silly boy is still wearing a long sleeved shirt is waaaay beyond me XD). The soft shading you use is definitely a good break away from all the hard SHINYKIREIDESU coloring I see all over the place. The texture on the table is pretty neat, though a little awkward where it's supposed to curve. All the geometric details like the clear pitcher of what I assume is lemonade (clearly the internets and heat has done something to me) and the ice cubes. That and the cleanliness of the coloring really shows the effort and work you put into it. _________________

That's not bitching. If anything, complaining about my one compliment is. And nowhere in the rules does it say not to give simple compliments. It just encourages more than that. Even if it were that's simply being anal. I'll say "Looks good" all I freaking want.
Seriously. I'm "bitching" because I gave a small compliment and was accused of spamming. I'm not even going to start.
I will refrain from commenting on any fanart in the future. |
