This brought me great joy when I read the gaming news this morning.
Capcom is bringing back the Rockman.EXE series! (and we though EXE 6 was the end)
Announced today during the World Hobby Fair, Capcom announced it's plans to release "Rockman EXE Operator Shooting Star" for the Nintendo DS later this year.
The very little was given out about the title, though the 2nd picture suggests some sort of EXE/Ryuusei crossover (time travel, worlds crossing over......who knows). Though they said more news is to follow in the Coro Coro Comics in September.

So what do you guys think about this news, or do you all have anything to contribute to EXE's resurrection? Maybe a new Anime series will follow??? Let the ranting begin! _________________ -Follow me on Twitch.tv-

I can't even begin to explain how freaking happy I am. MAH EXE IS BACKZORZ! Quite random news that brightened my morning.
I think a new anime is wishing too much, I'm just happy to have the game. It almost seems as though it may focus on EXE a bit more because of the logo and the title, but I may just be imagining things.
My only hope is that the slightly less qualityful Ryusei series doesn't drag it down. Don't get me wrong, Ryusei was good, but forgive me for saying EXE makes it look like crap. |

I'm thinking it's more prominent because it's the first new exe game in a while and they're probably gonna advertise the hell out of that.
Pretty excited about this regardless, hope we get some MM9 navis out of the deal. |

I just really really hope they do it well. And the more I look at it, the more it looks like an EXE game with RnR added rather than the other way around...
Just don't ruin it. -_-;; Please Capcom, make it awesome enough that people wouldn't mind a sequel. (Don't necessarily make a sequel, just make it that awesome.) |

Words can't say how excited I am about this. Just wish we didn't have to wait so long for more details!
I think an anime would be too much to hope for. I'd love it, and it would be right up Anime!EXE's alley (just look at Beast!), but after they had to cancel SSR, I don't know if they'd be willing to stick another one on the air. It would have to be the full thirty minutes--I think SSR proved that ten minutes just isn't enough time. Not to mention, with how long it's been since the EXE anime ended, would they even return to the wildly different animeverse of Cross Fusions and Net Saviors? It might just stick more to the games, sort of like the first series of the EXE anime, and disregard what came before altogether.
...but yeah, the chances are probably slim at best. But so were the chances for EXE's return, and here we are! :D Can't wait for mid-August! |

I don't think there's any chance of an anime revival whatsoever. I would not be surprised to see at least an animated short for a preview or maybe even an OVA corresponding with the release though.
Of course I want to play the game, but I'm going to take the long wait like I would a Jawbreaker... enjoy it slowly... since this may be the last EXE game we'll ever get to anticipate. |

And here come the wild speculation and fan theories round the bend, in my head anyway...
Personally, I hope for as little Ryuusei as possible. Just didn't like the series nearly as much as EXE. Yeah, Misora's cool, and stuff's flashy, and every now and then you get the 'okay that was neat' reaction, but it isn't near EXE's standards. I didn't like X either, so I think I'm pretty justified in calling Ryuusei X to EXE's Classic. I'm kind of hoping this will be like the Boktai crossovers in 4, 5, and 6, and that it will be mainly EXE with Capcom focusing a bit more on Ryuusei in the ads because they're trying to keep it in the spotlight. (Wrongly, since EXE is still more popular than Ryuusei, but hey, it's Capcom.)
An OVA would be delicious and ranks on the borders of possible.
...you know, considering the recent rumour of the anime being re-aired, we shouldn't be surprised by this... _________________ Avatar by triltaison on LJ.

But wasn't the rumor for the english translation?
I too hope for as little RnR. Nothing against it, I just want it not to interfere. I guess I should be thankful we're getting an EXE game at all.
This all feels very surreal.
You know, it's funny. I never believed my friend when he said they would make a megamanx.exe waaay back when we'd just beat EXE1. Ah, good times. |

I'd rather see both well represented.
Based on absolutely no evidence at all I think that a lot of the game's gonna be about bridging the gap between the two series and going more in to some of the backstory from Ryuusei.
And it'll involve hilarious time travel. |

I imagine that the plot will involve some gigantic viral kaiju that was made in 20XX being awakened in 22XX, and through some psuedo-science handwavium it makes time travel possible by tearing the space-time continuum or something like that. And by the end of the game they'll bring something up to make the whole thing non-canonical, like a reset button or something, so that the ''Megaman Battle Network End'' message in BN6 isn't invalidated.
And yeah, both series should get equal representation. A lot of people don't really seem to like Star Force for the simple fact that it's not Battle Network, but this way, we'll hopefully get the best of both worlds, literally. While I admittably don't care for crossovers, it would be fun to see some of the characters match off against their counterparts, like Protoman and Rogue or something.
I hope that we keep the similar gameplay style, when you play as Megaman.exe you have the old 3x6 battlefield, and as Geo you have the 3x5 one. Though that might make folder-building a pain with two seperate systems. Eh, I guess we'll see in the coming months. _________________ ' I don't care if the buzz isn't real- I can roleplay being drunk!'

I don't think they will have a reset button at the end of the game. They wouldn't do such a cruel thing to us as making us play an entire game for nothing!
It reminds me of the number one rule of writing: Don't waste the reader's time.
I too am wondering how they will carry out the crossover. Will it be equal amounts of both or one with a little of the other? Will it be 2D or will they have a lot of 3D? (I'm thinking 2D, given the kind of low-key announcement. Makes it seem like a smaller-budget title) EXE's cameo in the first RnR was a rip in the spacetime continuum, and that seems to be the only reasonable excuse for a crossover to happen like this.
Or maybe... Rockman just kept living for 200 years. Nah.
At any rate, I'm very excited. :D
EDIT: You know, something has me wondering if the Ryusei Rockman is going to travel into the past instead of the other way around... (It is titled as an EXE game after all) and if the EXE Rockman is going to be able to do Denpa Henkan with Netto in at least one part of the game. (Maybe the end, to defeat the boss alongside the other Rockman.) "Operate shooting star" sounds like Rockman.exe will be able to operate in a similar fashion as his Ryusei counterpart.
I'm not sure I'd be so against that. |

Watch... Since the Original series timeline has all the Star Wars related references...This will make the Digital time line the Star Trek version.
Mega Man will be the new Mr. Spock. |

I don't really know much about the Shooting Star series, as far as the storyline goes, nor have I ever had the will to play them. But, I hope this new game will actually make me. XD From what I've heard about the storyline, Shooting Star sounds boring, but maybe this game will spice it up a bit? I'm hoping for some sort of time travel involved...
I'm also hoping it'll be wi-fi compatible. I was really disappointed when EXE5 TL wasn't, so since the past RockMan games for DS have, I have a feeling this one will be, too. _________________ My art blog: http://annamariacoppi.blogspot.com/

It's just my personal opinion, but the SSR games are a little boring. >_>;; I didn't pick either of them up again after I beat the final boss. But I don't want to rag on them, since others like them and it ruins my mood.
I'm sure it will have online, which is AWESOMENESS! I need to get TL still so my collection can be complete. And I need to beat EXE2.
AAHHH! SO HAPPYYYYYYYYY! Thank you so much Capcom! ^____^

well... I don't like this realy.
Okay, having a second Rockman game in a year sounds good...but why again Exe? Okay, I Know Capcom wants to use again 2 seperate Rockman lines, but why not re-activate something like Zero?
In my eyes, .Exe was storywise the most boring Rockman Series of all time (non of the Characters did something after the game where they were introduced, and Lan and Megaman seemed to be like pieces of bread throughout the series for me, they didn't change at all, and, remember exe.4? >.<), while Starforce was the best Rockman series storywise (with Zero being god-like in that point).
So far, every friend of Geo had realy something to do and where a big part of the storyline, and they all did have development (esspecialy geo himself), and they are much more interesting than the exe maincast ( will never miss enzan, dex or Yai in any point)
and finaly: the battle system is much better than the exe-system was.
Sword did finaly have an realy purpuse in the battle, and such immens combinations which would make 4-times more damage than you have HP are much more difficult to get together.
also, in Starforce you don't have to search for every chip up to 4 times to make a good folder or make an PA _________________ BakuRyuu Gattai!

Well, as it says in the index, the Game Center is for both Battle Network and Star Force, and since this is a crossover title, differing opinions are to be expected. It's shoving two seperate, disagreeable fanbases together, at worst.
Anyway, I do think that the Star Force characters do have some better writing than the Battle Network ones, overall, and the plot utilizes and involves them much better. By the end of BN6, the only characters who I saw as actually having noticeably changed from BN1 were Chaud and Protoman, who went from straight-up jerks to more respectable rivals. I do think that Battle Netowrk's gameplay is superor over all, but the character writing not as much.
Not really surprised at this though, the Megaman fanbase is a pretty disagreeable and contrary one. _________________ ' I don't care if the buzz isn't real- I can roleplay being drunk!'

Really? Even Kizamaro did something useful? I need to read the SS3 game storyline. Or maybe play it. |
