This is something that has been bothering me ever since I finished watching R.EXE Stream. Is Slur a woman or a man?
I know there is a huge thread here about Serenade's gender and I too had trouble figuring out whether (s)he was a guy or a girl. But I cannot figure out Slur's either. The impression tells me that it's a woman, but it might as well be an adrogynous male or a unisex Navi.
Anyone knows the answer? Or at least share your thoughts on this ^^ _________________

I'm almost 100% sure it's a female. |

Well, as for Senrade, I'm about 100% sure Senrade is both genders. I think I read somewhere a long time ago that Capcom even confirmed this, but that could be wrong...
As for Slur, I've always seen Slur as a female. It would kind of make sence, too, since Slur is supposed to be Duo's "slave", so to speak, it's usually a set in rule that is an evil villain (male) has a slave, it'll be the opposite gender of the villain... At least, that's how I look at it. ^^U
But, then again, who's to say that Duo is male? _________________ My art blog: http://annamariacoppi.blogspot.com/

Oh man, I hope that was sarcasm. >.<;;
I think Serenade was referred to as "King of the Undernet" somewhere, but that might have been a rough Japanese translation so the English connotation of a male King might be inaccurate. I always thought of Serenade as a female but that might just be because my neighbor used to call him/her/it Forte's girlfriend. -_-;; |

It wasn't, I was serious... D= They never really do say what Duo's gender is, right? Unless I'm wrong... I haven't finished Stream, yet. _________________ My art blog: http://annamariacoppi.blogspot.com/

Well, Here's how I see it. Serenade, male. Duo, male. Slur, female. I think it works well. And Slur seemed female to me. |

Serenade, like Narcy, is beyond gender. It has no defined gender. Serenade is androgynous. _________________

IIRC, Serenade is the unification of both genders. Both, if you will.
Prior to the English release, we all thought Serenade was female because... Well Serenade is sort of a feminine sounding word. Plus it would be kickass if the most powerful navi or something like that was female. But due to the lack of gender specific pronouns and maybe gender neutral speech patterns on Serenade's part, the translators went ahead and called Serenade male. I'm pretty sure Capcom (of Japan mind you) confirmed that Serenade was both genders, beyond gender, neither gender, blah blah blah... Eons ago, we used to have this debate until someone somehow contacted Capcom about it. Probably Ruby, who, if my memory serves me correctly, was also the one responsible for asking Capcom what gender Harpuia was.
I personally think Slur is also both genders, or neither. Slur came from space and doesn't need such classification. _________________

And with programs, it's mostly for pronoun usage. And how it looks. |

Slur looks female to me, but I dunno. I guess technically they don't really have genders. :/ |

I never thought of Slur as a guy ^^"
As for the "King of the Undernet", a female can be a king, as king = ruler and queen normally = ruler's wife. _________________ Your voice seems to freeze reaching me...

I think Serenade was referred to as "King of the Undernet" somewhere |
it was in one of the mangas. i think (if my memory does not fail me) it was rockman exe vol. 13. durring a battle scene.
and to be on topic, slur left the impression on me of being a female navi, i dont think a male should look that girlie. _________________ " ♥ ♪ you think you know his battle chips, ♪

Whoa, my account still works?
While I agree with Serenade (and Capcom has confirmed this), I don't see how Narcy is beyond gender. Narcy is simply a glamorous and flamboyant male. Androgynous, yes, but not genderless.
The whole "beyond gender" thing to me seems more reserved for an almighty being that has no use for gender restrictions, which fits Serenade perfectly.
Also, although I would like to agree that Net Navis, as programs, have no use for genders and therefore it is simply a form of "pronouns," Capcom seems to differ. (POSSIBLE SPOILERS) The hidden messages from Netto in Shooting Star Rockman 3 revealed that Rockman and Roll had a baby, Rockman Jr. This goes to show that Net Navi genders are a bit more complex than we'd like to believe.
As for the actual question of this thread... Slur's gender? I always assumed female, but I never actually looked into the language used when referring to Slur or how Slur talks to see if there's any concrete evidence toward Slur's gender. As much as I'd like to say Slur is female because it seems most fitting, Capcom has proven us far too many times that in the Rockman universe, almost-blatantly-couldn't-be-anything-else-but-female characters usually turn out to be male. Oh yeah. I hate traps. But I think we all figured out Slur is a girl program, Serenade is both and neither, and Narcy is just fabulous.
And Rock Jr. would probably be like a cross between Megaman and Roll's programs. Like with humans but without the "fun". |

I think that Slur is female, since it is really implied buy her voice. But then again, since Slur is not from Earth, maybe there is no "gender". I don't know, I am confusing myself. |
