MegaMan Assault Strike: The Backstory (AU)

Well to keep things short and sweet, I've got a series I'm planning on starting. I have the main plot all mapped out, and have four subplots that intertwine with the main plot so much that you can't explain one without the other. I used the Alternate Universe code becaue technically, yes, it's MegaMan, so it's not original. (The universe this is set in, however, is OUR OWN reality.) But, if Capcom wanted to sue me, for instance, all they'd have to go off of would be theuse of trademarked names. *Some* character relationships are left unaltered, many are not. Everything else in the entire thing is completely original.

I'm posting the backstory as a complete work, but in bulleted form. The original idea was to make a comic, which is most likely just not going to happen. Fan-fic is the next best thing. So, I'd love your comments and criticisms, and basically what you think of the direction I'm taking this in.

The Backstory

• For centuries, a small sect of powerful individuals calling themselves the Unseen Hand have played a large part in major world events and conflicts. The Unseen Hand played key roles in the starting (and ending) of such conflicts as the French Revolution.
• In the beginning of the 21st century, the Unseen Hand began expanding its numbers.
• Under the oversight of a new leader of the Unseen Hand, the organization begins to infiltrate the governments of the world’s superpowers in the year 2037.
• By the late 21st century, the Unseen Hand has infiltrated the governments of almost every country on earth, and the higher members of the Hand are in line for the highest governmental seats in the world’s superpowers.
• In 2113, newly elected President Wilhelm, also one of the highest members of the Hand, passes a bill set forth by a highly-infiltrated Congress giving the president unprecedented power over government. Wilhelm begins to work with Hand-supporting heads-of-state around the globe to create a coalition of the world’s superpowers.
• By the end of the year 2116, Wilhelm and others have succeeded in creating the Unified Coalition of Nations. Under promises of peace and prosperity, dozens of smaller and weaker nations join the UCN. Pressure from the world’s superpowers leads most of the remaining countries to join.
• Spring 2117: Under the guise of a political unifier, Arthur Stejos, the current leader of the Unseen Hand, surfaces in the UCN. Many of the nations in the UCN rally to him, eagerly supporting his ideas and plans for a united world.
• March 2117: President Wilhelm of the United States presents a proposal previously unheard of—a single leader of the UCN, to finally unite the world. Leaders of many nations express much support for the new proposal, including the infiltrated, Hand-supporting nations of China, Russia, Australia, France, England, and Brazil.
• April 13, 2117: In an almost unanimous decision, Arthur Stejos is elected leader of the UCN.
• Summer 2117: Under Stejos’ supervision, the nations of the world begin to work together in ways never before seen in history. Much progress towards peace and the elimination of hunger is made.
• Winter 2117: A worldwide disarmament takes place under a new act passed by the UCN. In secret, the Unseen Hand stockpiles all confiscated military technology in numerous strategic locations around the world.
• Spring 2118: Within a few short months, the UCN achieves seemingly unrealistic goals, and a time of peace never before seen on earth begins. Nations prosper, and world hunger is nearly ended. War begins to be seen as a thing of the past.
• Summer 2118: In the continuing era of peace and prosperity, few take notice as the UCN passes legislation weakening national governments and strengthening the UCN’s hold over the nations of the world. The Unseen Hand secretly gains even more power through these acts. The covert organization reorganizes the hierarchy of its members, creating official Hand Elite positions for ten leaders of the world’s superpowers, all under the authority of Stejos.
• Spring 2119: More legislation passed by the UCN gives it total control of government issues in the in the member nations. However, the people of the world see the UCN as a savior, and do not react strongly to the legislation.
• Summer 2119: Many national boundaries are dissolved, with the lands being incorporated into the 10 superpowers, now known as the Elite Countries. The Elite Countries are divided into numerous smaller divisions, with each province having equal representation within the UCN, now divided into ten branches to accommodate the Elite Countries.
• Winter 2119: A vicious attack on the UCN headquarters by an unknown terrorist group leads the UCN to begin forming a large military force, for the “protection of the free peoples of the UCN.” The attack was secretly orchestrated by the Unseen Hand, and no members of the UCN were harmed.
• Spring 2121: Increasing numbers of “terrorist” attacks lead the UCN to increase their military presence around the globe.
• Winter 2121: Numerous small rebellions occur against the UCN in light of the recent increase in military aggressiveness. Orders to use deadly force against a small guerilla group in a town in what was formerly France go terribly wrong, and more civilians than rebels were killed. Outrage over this even sparks more conflict around the globe.
• May 2122: A small group of guerilla fighters is traced to an island off the coast of Africa. Without deliberation, UCN forces bomb the island, leaving no survivors.
• November 2122: The third extermination of guerilla groups takes place. Public outrage peaks, and riots ensue. UCN forces are dispersed across all of the Elite Countries, and martial law is declared in all of their provinces. A time of relative peace ensues.
• February 2124: A small rebel faction attacks a UCN outpost just after martial law is retracted, but is easily subdued. UCN officials state that further violence of this kind will be not be tolerated by any means, and execute the guerilla fighters to make their point. More outrage drives the public to question the policies of the UCN, but previously passed legislation prevents their removal from power.
• April-October 2124: Multiple vicious attacks by a sizeable rebel group calling themselves the Assault Strikers culminate in the destruction of a number of UCN buildings. Leaked intelligence pinpoints the location of the Assault Strikers’ headquarters, stationed in the long-abandoned military base of White Sands, former New Mexico. The base proves to be well defended and impossible to take down without substantial loss of life, and in a last-ditch effort to crush the rebellion once and for all, UCN forces nuke the base and all surrounding territory, and hundreds of rebel fighters die. The few that survived due to being away from the base go into hiding.
• Winter 2124-Summer 2127: Multiple new rebel factions emerge, many led by former Assault Strikers members. Not all rebel factions agree with each other, however, and numerous small skirmishes between factions also occur.
• October 2127: To deal with the increase in rebel activity around the globe, the UCN begins programs to research new weapons technologies, since older technologies prove inefficient against the rebel factions’ guerilla tactics.
• Summer 2128: Recent breakthroughs and advances in military technology require a rare mineral not found on earth. Enough is harvested from the remains of a small meteorite to begin testing with brainwave-sensitive combat suits.
• Spring 2130: Research into the brainwave-sensitive materials is a startling success, but not enough of the material remains to put it into more than a handful of prototypes, and mass production would be impossible. The project is put on hold until more of the minerals can be found.
• July 2132: A deposit of the minerals is unearthed in the remains of a much larger meteorite than the previous one, found buried in Antarctica. Enough of the mineral is harvested to continue production on a number of prototype battle armor models, but no more of the mineral can be found.
• December 2132: Early testing of the prototype battle armor is an overwhelming success. Production on a fully working model begins.
• March 2133: Testing of the first working model of the new thought-sensitive battle armor goes horribly wrong, when an entire research facility was destroyed during a rushed field test. Few details are known about the cause of the destruction. Only a handful of individuals survived the incident, and the prototype armor had gone missing.
• June 2133: The first successful working brainwave-sensitive armor (BSA) model is finally created, but the UCN research lab responsible for the construction of the armor receives warning of an imminent rebel attack. All data on the armor is sent to other research labs around the globe.
• Present day—June 17th, 2133: The rebel attack led by Vier Fhurer on the UCN research lab comes sooner than expected. The BSA has not been destroyed, but all data on it has already been sent to other UCN research facilities, and all of the information in the lab’s computers has been wiped. The remaining supply of the brainwave-sensitive material has also been sent away. The assault on the research lab appears to be a failure.
