The 'Dex Holders. :3

So here's the Bulbapedia summary for you guys. XD

Quote:
Pokémon Adventures (Japanese: ポケットモンスター☆SPECIAL Pocket Monsters ☆ SPECIAL) is a manga series authored by 日下秀憲 Hidenori Kusaka. It was illustrated by 真斗 Mato for the first ten volumes, and since volume 11, has been illustrated by 山本サトシ Satoshi Yamamoto. It is published by Shōgakukan under the Ladybird Comics Special series.

It is popularly known as Pokémon Special even outside of Japan, and often shortened as PokéSpe (Japanese: ポケスペ PokeSupe).

Unlike the anime, which, though drawing much inspiration from the games, does not follow them exactly, Pokémon Special is a mostly game-based manga, with the thirteen main characters taking their names from the main series games, and their various adventures tending to stay restricted to their home region. Also unlike the anime, which has gone to great lengths to indicate the danger of a legendary Pokémon being captured, the main characters of Pokémon Special have captured and sometimes use their own legendaries, much as the player can in the games. Pokémon Special also contains darker elements than other media, including certain characters and some Pokémon actually dying.

The series was translated into English and published in the United States by VIZ Media, however, publication stopped after the Yellow chapter. As of June 2009, VIZ began re-releasing the series from volume 1. Unlike the original English releases, which read from left-to-right like Western comics and had the art mirrored from the Japanese releases, these re-released volumes retain the original format, with the pages going from right-to-left with the art being unmodified.

Pokémon creator Satoshi Tajiri is quoted as stating "This is the comic that most resembles the world I was trying to convey." Game producer Tsunekazu Ishihara also praises the series, saying "I want every Pokémon fan to read this comic!".

So have you heard about it? It's quite a well written manga in which the protagonists are much closer to their game counterparts than the anime.

You mean the thing everyone wants animated more then the actual show? Yeah. Sounds fun. And there's a huge storyline running through it. I wonder if Gold/Silver/Crystal will meet Dia/Pearl/Platina later.

Yes that one. XD

We're expecting a HGSS arc so there's always hope. :3

Ruby, Gold, Dia and Red are my faves in that order. Wink

I only ever got to the Yellow arc but I've always been meaning to read more of this.

Interested in how the HGSS arc is gonna go, since besides a new character there's a good chance it'd tie back in to the main story again. (DPPt arc's been doing kind of it's own thing so far)

Well... We have three more that have Dexes. And Soul may have one too. But I'm sure they could pull it off. Maybe we'll see all of the Dex holders.

I loved the Red/Blue/Green story arc, though I was a bit put off by some of the odd things they chose to do (Moltres, Zapdos and Articuno being fused into a three-headed super-bird, with a machine that apparently required Gym badges to power it, was definitely pretty weird). The battles were the main attraction for me; rather than simply stick with game conventions, many of the battles involved attacks and abilities being used in clever ways to win (the one that stands out in my mind is when Red's Sandshrew used "Sand Attack" to bury the two Magmar attacking them) and I just ate that up.

Then, of course, the later Yellow arc just got weirder as it went on, and I sort of fell out of the habit of keeping up with it. >_< Still leagues better than the actual anime though.

Best part would have been the confirmation in FR/LG manga that Silver (the G/S/C game rival) is Giovanni's son.
That was so aweseome.

It's ALREADY OUT IN THE UNITED STATES LOL! XDDD

Anyways VIZ started re-printing it in the right-left format (The Green/Blue name still remains unfixed) back in June. Vol.2 Just came out this month.

Chuang Yi Singapore releases all of the Volumes up to 30 in English on South-East Asia. There is also a Chinese translation and the original Japanese manga.

Or you can read it in one of the Manga Viewing Websites. ^_^

On the note of Yellow being a girl... spoilers for Robin, since
it's obvious you haven't made it far into the series yet:
Yellow really is a girl. It's revealed much later on that she
was disguising herself as a boy. I'm not too sure about why she
did so, but it was probably because she thought they wouldn't
let her help Red with Pikachu if they knew she was a girl. :/

Also, are they really re-printing the series in the US? The only
thing I've seen in bookstores are the 'Best of Pokemon
Adventures' books, which only contain select chapters from each
main story arc. (A couple of chapters of the Red arc in one book,
a couple from Yellow in another book, etc.) :/

So, if they're re-printing all of the chapters, then I gotta
find out where I can buy them. Laughing

She was disguising herself because Blue wanted to protect her Identity as a Viridian Forest descendant

And yes here's some of the CG's from Pixiv: http://s588.photobucket.com/albums/ss321/AkuNoOuji/PokeSpe%20Anime/

Umm...as I said we are hoping to get passed Vol.7 here in the US. XD

Wow their very talented : D. They look amazing ! Man wish I could draw like that. Did they do any more..or are they still drawing more from the scenes in the manga?

Speaking of the manga. Does anyone feel like their kinda glad the Anime didn't follow the manga ^_^;..even though the story plot is better.
