It has nothing to do with that, everyone's opinion matters. However, if any of the admins saw that you would have gotten in trouble for HEAVY dub bashing...which is 100% NOT why I made this thread... |

Ok, but even so, that corny humor and techno music is made to appeal to a different audience. The truth is the mainstream of viewers in NA don't consider Megaman to be a mature subject, so the dubbers don't bother targeting them, because the theme appeals to a younger fan base. And they like corny humor. I still think some of the western humor they put in is funnier than the japanese stuff (they rely a lot on slapstick). I admit, even they can take it too far. *coughduelmasterscough*
I think it's only recently that shopro has realised: "Oh hang on, there are some older viewers who are watching this, and they've seen the original japanese version." So they may be trying to appeal to both fanbases with Axess. But still I don't mind the music or humor. And it's actually refreshing to see an anime like Duel Masters that doesn't take itself too seriously. _________________ Original name: blazequest |

Yeah, despite there being "extreme violence" and blah blah, and despite AXESS and Stream indeed both being darker than EXE, it's STILL a kids show, even in Japan. The difference? The Japanese aren't as anal retentive as we are here in the US, it's not a huge-ass deal if stuff like that happens on daytime tv, and you can buy soft-core porn comics at the age of 15 T.T
....but that's another story UO_O the point is, while people get pissed about a lot of the edits on ANY anime on Foxbox or WB, it's only because those who dubbed it are only trying to get it targetted to the audience it was meant for, without having the soccer moms, the fellow copywriters/licensors, and everyone else from getting involved, otherwise the show gets thrown off, and then you get NO anime. |

No, in the credits he has a new VA. His new VA just sounds a lot like the old one. |

Chaud's new voice sounds obviously different from NT warrior. Why would he still have the same VA if he were doing the voice differently? _________________ Original name: blazequest |

Chaud doesn't have the same VA from EXE. Check on IMDB.com, and you'll see "(2003-2004)" near Bill Switzer.
Still no confirmation on the new voice actor... _________________

He's a new person to Ocean Group as far as I know. I couldn't totally make out his name on the credits. |

Have you ever MET any of these people to know for sure that their "surfer accent" is real? Let's not forget that these people manipulate their voices for a living. Surely you didn't think that they're always cast for a part because their OWN voice suited it?
For example, I've met Brad Swaile in real life and he sure didn't talk with any accent there. How mysterious. Hmm. Also, Richard Cox is from the U.K.
So let's try not to generalize Canada as being a country of surfers, hmm? _________________ One of the three EXE sisters! *Armstrong-style pose*

Didn't we go over this before?
That's not a natural accent, I live in Canada and I've maybe heard that kind of accent once or twice, at most.
anyhow, as for my favorite voices...
Heatman, it's the only one I liked better than the original.
Woodman's voice in the lost episodes, it doesn't quite fit him but I still love it XD
Miyuki's voice, really close to the original and fits her well IMO
Planetman's voice , same as Miyuki's
Netto's second voice, even though most seem to hate it I really like Brad Swailes VA work so I liked his Netto voice.
Count Elec's voice, Didn't really start liking this one until the lost episodes, when the acting got a lot better IMO. It fits him well and the actor does a great job in certain episodes.
Mahajarama's voice, Pretty much fits him perfectly IMO.
Forte's voice, this is a bit different. I don't think it fits him at all, but I think it'dve been great on another character. Not even sure who, but it could've had a lot of potential.
As for ones I dislike, the only ones I really seriously dislike are Toadman, Iceman and Shadowman. The other ones I dislike are just because they don't really fit them in my opinion, or I don't like the acting. |

This is a pretty old thread though. I remember giving Kirbo heck about calling the surfer accent "Canadian" and I'm hoping that came after this thread.
At any rate, I'm sure he's at least learned his lesson about that by now. |

Sorry about that, didn't notice it was a revived thread, so I though this bit was new and you had gone back to saying that. |

What the He.. Surfer Accent?!? Since when do Canadians have surfer accents?!? Since when do we have surfing, for that matter?!? I don't know where you got the idea that Canada is the place for surfing. Absolutely everyone I know goes to Vancouver for the best waves out there. Are you saying I have a surfer accent? We're not a country of surfers.
...I'm sorry. I didn't take that well at all. But do try to use common sense here. I can't imagine surfing being big here, and I certainly can't picture surfer accents being the mainstream. I agree with Izumi. These people are voice actors so it stands to reason they can change their voice. It took me forever to realise that four of the main characters in Beast Wars were done by the same guy (Good ole' Scott McNeil). That's what they do. People tell them to do a voice in a certain way, they do it, and then they collect at the end of the week. I've actually had the privelidge of sitting in on a voice recording, and that's how it goes. _________________ Original name: blazequest |

OK first of all, yes I DID get over that a long time ago. Since I've interacted with many Canadians nowadays, I've learned that that little excerpt from the Beckett report on DBZ's voice history was a little overplayed. I only meant that those specifica voice actors that sound like they have the 'accent' in the characters they play, tend to 'use it' as you guys said, in nearly every single time they end up playing a character, at least in the ones I've heard. However, I was in NO way intending to be stereotypical OR offensive to anyone. I didn't generalize them as a country of surfurs and I never have, as you all seem to instantly suspect of me, my god -_- Wonderful, now everyone thinks I'm a stereotyper...
Second off, Maverik Hunter, we've known for a while of what Scott's name is and how he's new to the Ocean Group Cast.
Third off, I actually agree with most of those opinions. Bass was played by Matt Hillas I discovered during the Gosple 4-parter, but for some reason Ryouko thought he sounded like a girl when he had his first instance of 'added dialogue' back around the beggining of Season 2 o.o
...I can't do anything here without ending up having everyone hating me... |
