Baltimore Tax Increases

Amidst all the good news, a bit of bad news for those of you staying in hotels.

We were recently notified that Baltimore's Hotel Occupancy Tax is increasing by 2% on July 1, 2010. This means that for Otakon 2010, your total room taxes will be 15.5% (which consists of 6% Maryland State Sales tax and the new occupancy tax of 9.5%). They have also raised the parking tax slightly, so some garages may be adjusting their prices to account for the change. Be sure to check with the garage that you plan to park at to make sure you know how much you will be charged.
(These increases came as a surprise to us too, but at least we all have a month to plan for the increased cost.)

With the tax raise are we going to have to pitch in more for our rooms now?

Just got back from Buffalo and got news from my new boss that I'm set for Otakon. So I'll be there Thursday, probably around 4ish once I grab a co-worker. Now I won't be there on Friday since I'm opening the store, but I should be out of there at 3, 5 at the latest.

As far as bringing stuff. I'll bring my 360 again like last year for games and movies, PSP, and DS. I will also supply the RF Switcher for our room as well (which means you can just bring the regular cables, Dingo)

Probably would be a good idea to have a second power strip too, if anyone can spare one. I only have one that I have with my 360, but with all of these electronics these days...

It looks like there will be very few prizes for the raffle this year. I don't have enough money to gather much (I have some X tattoos, an X2 Nintendo Power magazine, and Megaman 2 cart). That may be it.

A Megaman 2 Cart? Damn oldschool. I actually own all 6 Nintendo Games, no way in hell amI parting with them. You know heres an idea we could try, On friday (I show up around 3:00 PM or so) we could get together and search the Dealer's room, picth in and each get an item for the Raffle. Shirts, toys, anything Megaman Related you can find.

Also, As I mentioned in another thread, I'm working on a BattleNetwork themed game in RPGMaker2003, If I can get a demo together by Otakon, I can offer it as a Raffle prize (along with RPGMaker2003 itself to play it)

Nothing wrong with raffling off a copy of Mega Man 2 on the NES, hell it was a hit last year when we did it. I dunno how many people drooled over it, LMAO. The game is god!

The demo....I would sit aside. Sure a lot of con-goers would rather have the full thing of something, then a little, however don't let that stop you from letting people around sample it if you want, not discouraging creativity here.

Alright Hex, if someone can supply a PC laptop I can install the demo and let people try it out when were all together on Saturday, I'll try to at LEAST have maybe a Boss Battle.
