It's been awhile since we've had some fresh news on the Battle Network / EXE series, so I'm really happy to pass along that UDON has announced they will release an english version of the extensive Megaman Battle Network: Complete Works book!

http://www.themmnetwork.com/2010/05/27/udon-zx-vol-1-on-the-way-battle-network-ocw-formally-announced/

I'll be buying this one as soon as it comes out, especially since I never got around to getting the Japanese version. Nice to hear people still care about EXE!

Ohoho, I knew I heard the name of this book somewhere before, since I have it. The part I skipped over was that Udon is releasing the *English* version. Ah, okay.

Certainly looking forward to getting this version as well.

Got it in the mail today!

Lots of cool stuff in there... I love seeing the concept work and reading about the processes of designing everything.

Their original design was pretty ambitious. (Apparently there were going to be online netbattles?)

Which might work if they went with my idea for an MMO. I had it way back when the DS version of 5 came out. The Protoman/Colonel games.

I had someone give me an old pocket pc a good 7(?) years or so ago, and I always had this dream of learning to code for it and making an EXE MMO-ish thing. It would be a great fit, if they did it right.

When you read about ideas they had, it's kind of startling how little they played up the cyber thing. They had sketches where Megaman had an antenna to get information, Lan had a headset on, and navis looked (decidedly creepily) less like humans and more like... things. o_o

I'm glad they took the series where they did with the designs they used.

Yeah. It's better how they ended up doing it. Would be cool though to have an MMO.
