Do you prefer to use Dub names or Sub names?-no dub bashing!

I have to admit that was agreat joke, but I have a better one.

Why do you use the name Bass?

I started off by refferring (sp?) to them by their dub names, but after watching the clips on REO I just started to the use sub names. There wasn't a transition period. One day, dub. Next, sub.

I prefer the Japanese names because of how they sound. I always have trouble with Chaud because, as a languages major, my first impulse is to pronounce it as it is in French which is very hard for me to pronounce anyways. The dub names just look awkward too. The Japanese names just look and sound better to me, that's all. I have nothing against the dub names (I actually like them because they tried to capture the spirit of the Japanese names).

My friend has a problem with Blues, though. "He's red." "His name is Blues!" "He's RED." ^^;; So... I think that's the only time I refer to Blues by his dub name ^^;;

Hmm..I like the name Blues more it sounds smooth to your ears and its easier to say, also Not everything has to make sense! and besides, its Blues as in the Music blues not the color blue Razz

the Name Protoman is cool, but it means hes a prototype..of what? makes no sense in the EXE series Razz

The only dub names I like better than the originals are..

Torchman: Fireman seems to generic, Torchman better suits his appearance.

Spikeman: For the dub, Spikeman sounds better,

Protoman: Somehow calling someone Blues in the english way just doesn't sound right.

Kid Grave: Grave sounds alot more villainous than Gospel.

Savageman: He most have had a conflict with the villain from He Man, But I like Savageman better, his claws could definatleybe called savage.

The only dub names I don't like are...
All of World 3 except Maddy: Ever notice how villains usually have a name associated with their power "or navi" before they even get it?

Spoutman: Curse Aquaman of the Justice League! He had to make this an issue! :grr:

HeavyMetalman: I do not see an electric guitar on him!

Junkdataman: That seems unessisary...

I tend to say "Lan" than "Netto" and "Enzan" rather than "Chaud". In my opinion, it's really fun to say the original names, but I don't like how everyone has to end in like, so uncreative. I like "Blues", but I don't like how you'd say "Protoman", because it's kinda strange for me to say that. XD

Anyway, the one that I actually like that are dub and stuff is Tory. Like. Tory Froid. Because in my opinion that sounds so much cooler than Tohru.

I tend to stick with the original names than dub it has became a habit I don't mind having.

I prefer the original names although bomberman sounds alot better than Megaman 1's Bomb man so as with everything there are some ups and downs to it but it does take me back to the good ol days of 8 bit side scrolling just waiting to see Geminiman although they may change the name cause Megaman 1-5 was quite a long time ago kids these days are lucky to know who X is. are there any other robots/navis with out a "man" tag other than Colonel, Meddi, Roll...hmmm

I like to use a mix of both. I like the dub names for all of EXE's and Axess's characters. For example, I don't like the name Rockman because he has nothing to do with rocks at all and I allways though that Netto sounded stupid.
I know that many people like to use the name Laika instead of Raika, but not me. This is because Laika is the name of the dog the soviets sent up into space on Sputnik 2 and every time I hear the name Laika I keep thinking "dog."

How ever there are some Japanese names in Stream that I like better, like Nenji and Narcy. In the games I prefer Saito to Hub.

Rockman is in reference to rock music, not the physical object known as a rock.

For me, I interchange depending on which version I'm talking about.

The show has little to nothing to do with the names most of time. DBZ is not about under wear or food, yet most of the characters ar named after food or clothing.

And Species, please refrain of resurrecting posts that are more than two months old. Especially if you have nothing special to contribute to them.

Personally, I like the original names. Then again, it would probably be weird for the dubs to name Netto "Netto" or Rockman "Rockman", if you know what I mean. But, I seriously didn't like it when they changed names like Junkman became "Junkdataman".

I use Japanese names, because i'm used to it.

The dub names are not that bad, but i don't like the French dub names at all.

To me, Netto sounds better (and cuter somehow) than Lan.
