No, I believe that would be correct. Perhaps they think that dating and love would simply be too provocative to put into an anime...that's my explanation for why some of the eps were cut for American dubs...yet they always hint that out. I do dearly want to see that occur, but alas, it's probably still alive in the minds of dreamers, writers, and fans everywhere.

i think meiru and netto will eventually admit that they have some feelings for each other. once netto realizes it. hes a more than a little dense... -_-;

as stated before, Maylu and Lan will admit it once Maylu drills through his thick head. That is if his mother doesn't beat Maylu to the drilling that Maylu loves Lan.

I don't think Netto doesn't realise that Meiru thinks fondly of him. But Netto is in the 6th grade. He's still a kid. Girls are the last thing on his mind, I would assume. And Meiru has been Netto's friend for years. Can you imagine if you found out your best friend had romantic feelings for you? Pretty hard to accept, or understand. Netto just isn't ready to see Meiru that way. If he cares so much about net-battling, it's probably a good sign he's not mature enough to show interest in girls. My guess is he won't realise he's in love till he hits his late teens.

So I think it's less a matter of smartening up and more a matter of growing up. They haven't even hit puberty! How can they be thinking of a relationship? Give it some time man!

Personally, I can see the scene where Netto Realizes it as one where he's out doing something with Meiru, and they get to the end of it, and he awlks her home, and then she just kisses him as hard as she can until his toes curl.

Then when she lets him go, he just kinda stumbles back down the street to his house, and passes out with this goofy grin on his face.

then he wakes up the next morning and...well you guys get my point.
