Okay, most people agree that Ryuusei no Rockman wasn't perhaps the most stellar (pun very much intentional) sequel series ever, but the battle system was pretty interesting, if you could get past the behind-view and the lack of chip codes.

My question in particular deals with the second game's transformation system. There's been released concept art of an extra pair of tribies that were never functionally integrated into the game itself. One was apparently a pirate-themed tribe (which would fit as a water-element transformation), and the other was something of an angel tribe apparently - white, winged, and armed with a bow and arrow (perhaps a normal type).

Speculatively, does anyone here think the battle system might've been improved with these two extra tribes? Even remotely?

Dang, I like that angel design.

Ryusei designs are so bulbous. XD

I think the transformation combinations were already confusing enough, with each pair being separate in both directions (e.g., elec+fire, fire+elec), so the addition of more would have been worse.

I wasn't a big fan of the second one in general though. The third one seemed to go back to the soul unison idea, and that worked better, I think.

Yeah, the multi-form blends were confusing, though I think that might be because of a lack of an established system. SSR 3 did much the same, though: Taurus-Gemini would be Elec type, Gemini-Taurus would be fire. I think 3 pulled it off better, because the ultimate form didn't depend on Combination.

Yeah, the combining issue would've been a problem; frankly I think the Tribe system could've gone off better if it worked a bit like the Cross System, where you had a separate menu for it, rather than waiting for the Transformation card to show up.

Not many were fans of the second one. It's main redeeming feature was its multiplayer. Story, not so much.

The pirate one is funny. Giant anchor and mustache on WarRock.
The Angel one? It's fine.

As long as they didn't make another game to hold them. That's why I never played the series. You wait for the better 3rd game.

I can safely say that I hate the second one so much, I don't really feel like beating it.

Honestly, I don't think having more tribes would have had that much of an impact, other than arguing Pirates vs Ninjas vs Dinosaurs.

One of the criticisms I have for Star Force is the lack of impact having the different versions have on the story. The versions were better integrated in EXE since you had different character interactions per version, with the exception of EXE 3, but EXE 3 considered the best game of the series by most players (My heart is reserved for 2). The differences offered between games is so little, especially compared to Pokemon. SSR3 did a better job at those differences with the Noise system than the other 2 games, but there was very little variety within the story.

By the way, there was also a concept for Harp Noise, which I would have found so lulzy. Unfortunately, it was ultimately scrapped and to pour lemon and salt on the wound, Virgo Noise was NOT pink, nor was Ophiuchus Noise purple. Capcom, I am very disappoint.

That sucks. Harp noise would have been awesome. Luna and the snake got her own. Why not Misora.

the angel is definitely the bast outta them all.
seems to have the most thought put into it too...most of the rest look too similar to each other and look basically the same.
