Also, surprised that a thread hasn't happened yet. Any of the usual suspects gearing up to go, or maybe some of the relatively new arrivals to the Forums? _________________ Busily plotting for Otakon 2011... here's to hoping I don't leave my cameras behind this year.

Our usual group has our hotel rooms reserved, and we just submitted for this year's panel. :3 _________________ "Cats are interesting. They're kind of like girls. When they come talk to you, it's great. When you go talk to them, it doesn't go so well." - Miyamoto

I would love to go just one year and actually see people from these forums IRL, but this summer I'll be working elsewhere, and the $65 dollar registration fee sounds a little steep - plus traveling and hotel fees.
Ryo, in general, how much does a hotel room cost when you're splitting it with however many people you have? |

$65 isn't bad for what you get, especially normally the big concert acts and guests they have show up, plus I'm sure they taxed extra for the use of the Hilton as well for the con. It's overall a great experience for myself.
I plan on attending, I haven't pre-reg yet as I'm in the process of moving out of my apartment and living with my brother which he is giving me two of his spare bedrooms in his house so I'll be saving around $300-$400 a month, I just paid for the Utilities there
So i'm sure i'm going to have cash for this trip. :D
I will also be lending my video skills on this year's panel so we should have a online video for all of you that are unable to attend or just want to relive it.
P.S. Ryo - If a spot in our block opens, don't forget I do have someone who would be willing to fill it _________________ -Follow me on Twitch.tv-

I'm not sure if I'll be able to lug my trusty Panasonic MiniDV camera this year, but I'll certainly be able to get stills at various parts of the convention this year - not leaving my Rebel behind this time! _________________ Busily plotting for Otakon 2011... here's to hoping I don't leave my cameras behind this year.

I'll be there this year. I'm already planning a new (not Rockman-related) cosplay, with a second idea in the back of my mind (which is Rockman-related, but would be a lot more complex to make).
Nazne wrote: | Ryo, in general, how much does a hotel room cost when you're splitting it with however many people you have? | If I remember correctly, they split each room 5 ways, and I think each room is about $500 and change total for all three nights, so you could probably expect a bit over $100. _________________ Math problems? For this year it looks like if we have 5 people per room, it'll be around $120 per person for Thursday through Monday. We always stay Sunday night just to goof off and relax in the hotel rooms - usually playing video games since someone always brings a Wii or somesuch. :)
I'm not sure what I'm doing cosplay wise this year. I have plans to begin Colonel.EXE but I don't know if budget or time will allow it to be completed in time for this year's con. In which case I'll probably dig out a previously used cosplay.
I'm doing some extra freelance design work to pay for my trip this year. :) Money is tight after moving across country and changing to a lower paying job (for the time being), so I'm thankful to be able to do work on the side. _________________ "Cats are interesting. Hmm. That's actually not as bad as I thought, for a convention this large. Did you have to reserve months in advance for these rooms, and was there a sign-up process for who's squeezing in with you guys, or is it just a group of friends gathering?
And oh god, cosplay. I'm definitely not going until I learn to sew, in that case - I have a fairly realistic Sharo-uniform shirt I found at a flea market, but actually attaching details to it (and the cloak!) is another thing entirely. |

We generally have our rooms reserved for next year while we're still at the previous year's con. As soon as the con block is open online we book the rooms right away, since they sell out super fast.
As for roomies... those who stayed with us the prior year get first dibs on returning for the following year. If an empty spot opens up I usually advertise it here. _________________ "Cats are interesting. They're kind of like girls. When they come talk to you, it's great.
