The first stage for me with any cosplay is to begin the gathering of supplies. Once I have most of those in hand I can begin to plan out the detail specifics of how I'm going to finally put it together. Some of the supplies I'll use, and some I may not in the end, but it's always better to have what you need than to be without!

October is my favorite month for cosplay, simply because all of the craft and party stores are fully stocked with the best available selections. Jo-Ann's Fabrics also tends to put a ton of their fabrics on sale, so it's a great time to grab all you can. Not only that, but it's the only time of the year they stock costume specific types of fabric, such as some leathers and other sorts.

I'm always glad Party City is so consistent in their types of costume props, since I end up using the same type of helmet as my base for any Megaman cosplay. :) The police helmet I bought will be stripped back, and then I'll add some foam on the inside to make it comfy on my head. Thankfully Colonel's helmet isn't nearly as lopsided as Greiga's, so it shouldn't be too bad.

I also grabbed a sword, so I can dismantle it a bit and paint it for my sword arm. I've decided to go this route rather than the cannon arm, simply because I think the colors will look better for a complete costume, and it will also be much easier to wear.

The fabrics I picked up are the shiny blue for Colonel's cape, as well as a great red and silver vinyls to use for covering foam on the armor bits. I plan on highlighting any color on this cosplay other than black with a more metallic like fabric or paint, so it stands out better in person. While with Greiga I used a lot of painted paper mache armor, this time I want to use more fabric covered foam or plastic if possible, so I don't have to worry so much about scratching it, and making it more movable as well.

Going to hit up the other Jo-Ann's tonight to see what fabrics they may offer, and any other tidbits. :) I will probably begin work on the helmet sometime within the week! Stay tuned!

I am going to begin updating this thread again very soon. The helmet is actually already completed, I just need to search for all of the photos I took of the construction. I am planning to have this completed by January of 2017 for MAGFest since they have such an awesome Megaman cosplay turnout every year!
