|
|
With Sailor Moon making a dramatic come back in its global relaunch (first starting with Italy, and now spreading out to the US), how would you guys feel if something like this happened to the EXE anime, and do you think it could happen in the future?
I don't think it's too far fetched of a question, there's no doubt the anime wasn't popular (just look at how many seasons the show had, for crying out loud!). And I think if it can happen to an older series like Sailor Moon, and even Dragon Ball (if you count Kai as a relaunch) for example, I think it's highly possible it could happen to EXE in the years to come...
This is just something random that crossed my mind when I heard rumor Cartoon Network would start reairing Sailor Moon episodes as part of the relaunch.
I could be totally wrong on this one, but hey, it could happen... _________________ My art blog: http://annamariacoppi.blogspot.com/

A relaunch could be fun and I'd be interested in watching it.
As for R.EXE's popularity, I am not too sure if all the seasons are equally popular/well-known considering that a part of the whole series never really was globally aired. I understood that in the USA, R.EXE only extended as far as Axess, or at least was dubbed as far as that. Here in Holland, we only had the very first season that aired for a brief time and nothing more.
But still, if a relaunch might cause a new R.EXE boom, fine by me ^^ _________________

I'm not sure if it could, but I'd be happy if it did happen. Digital Mega Man is so relevant.
I wish they hadn't killed it off. |

I'm not sure if Capcom would go for that. You know how they are with the series now. It'd be nice though. |

Eh, I don't buy the whole "Capcom killed Mega Man" thing. There's still a lot of money to be made from the series and a lot of fans internal and external to the company.
It's unfortunate they cancelled the last two games, but that's hardly a closing of the book. |

Capcom probably still supports the Mega Man series, but I think it may be the ideas for promoting the series that might be getting them (in my decent opinion at least). Perhaps if they created a new series or interact with fans more, it might draw out some if not more interest. Then again, Capcom already has a lot on their plate this year(street fighter x tekken, UMvC3, Resident Evil, etc.), so project management might be difficult.
As for the anime, I do wish for a re-vamp. Getting the project done to the fan's expectations would help build support for the ever-shrinking fan base. However, what company would take an old anime like that at this point?
I say be patient, but once again this is entirely my take on the issue. _________________ As a Deviant, I work alone on my projects.

If there's still a lot of money to be made, why'd they cancel Legends 3? That was possible money. That's my question. |

Why haven't they made Sonic Vs. Mega Man Food Eating Contest 3D?
That's of course a bit of an extreme example, since Legends 3 would be a great game. But just because it has Mega Man doesn't mean it'll make money, and canceling a title some people want doesn't mean Mega Man is dead. Capcom must have decided the risk wasn't worth the investment. After all, the 3DS is a new and unproven platform that hasn't rocketed off, and the Legends series wasn't lucrative the first time. |

Still seems weak and lame though. They could at least not made such a fuss about it if it was just going to be canceled. |

I understood from a friend of mine that Legends 3 was cancelled due to 'lack of fan enthusiasm' while fans have been sending all sorts of stuff to Capcom to spice up the project (things like designs and artwork etc.) I'm not really up to date with what Capcom does weekly, but I heard they're doing weird things lately. My friend even spoke of a possible bankruptcy. _________________

That's a lie. Fans did everything but program it. And I still think that Capcom Europe Twitter account was fake.
No offense but why would the Europe Capcom have any real say? I figured it'd be Japan or the US' Capcom branch that decides everything.
That may sound wrong but it might make sense. |

Like I said, I've got no idea myself. My friend is more into gaming and keeps track of developments in that business. He apparently caught wind somewhere (or perhaps made the conclusion himself) that Capcom isn't having a good time either financially or otherwise. The cancellation/stalling of a handful of games plus refusal to localize another few was the reason for him to assume this, I believe. _________________

Still, maybe if they were smart, they'd try to put out games they know would make money. Games people really want. |

One fan may not like the same content that a collective fan base does. Plus, they are trying to create a game that will gain praise from the critics and pros while still catering to a series' fan base. That, I believe, lies the true nature of Capcom's descent.
Then again, Capcom has many projects on their hands as I explained earlier. _________________ As a Deviant, I work alone on my projects.

I had a discussion with some of my friends about Capcom's behavior towards releasing games. It's true that some of the games they produce aren't exactly made in such amounts that everyone can buy them. For example, getting Ace Attorney games here is a matter of luck because there is just so little of them actually put on the shelves.
Another problem is localizing. Sometimes Capcom doesn't localize a game to Europe. One reason being that they fear that localizing costs more money than the sale's profits can compensate. It's been my argument that that's caused by the increased amounts of people (kids) downloading games instead of actually buying them. Another reason for Capcom is that they think the games aren't popular enough. I suppose they base that on sales (which are decreasing like I said before) and Capcom failed to check internet websites to poll a franchise's popularity. The latter seems unlikely to me since Capcom is one of the companies that seems to be very involved with their fanbase. But I suppose they must have gotten their reasoning from somewhere. _________________

The real problem with Legends 3 is that they made such a big deal out of it with fans helping with the game then they say there weren't enough fans helping out.
That's the worst part of it. |

My bro and I often joke about Capcom liking to troll, but if that's a part of their trolling, I don't find it all that funny D: _________________

Gah, that still irritates me so much.
I didn't participate (not good enough at art), but I loved watching it unfold. How many thousands on top of the 15,000 that participated do you think were doing the same?
