Yes, HBD does really exist. It has something to do with hemoglobin defects, I think. ^_^; I'd suggest searching google. _________________

How can you spoil EXE1? The game's been out for 4 years. Anyone who wanted to play it, has. |

Found this link while searching for it http://www.tdh.state.tx.us/newborn/p_hemo.htm
I just skimmed, but it makes HbD out to have minor symptoms of Sickle Cell Anemia. It makes sense, because that would lead to greater conmplications later on in Saito's life, and at the young age, it would have left him very suceptible to diseases and infections. _________________ "There's Nothing I can't Burn"~Fireman.EXE

Yeah but you don't see this only in 1 but in 3 as well. It's somebody similar in a wheelchair. But to save this guy you have to fight plantman... _________________ Avatar by May, many flowers and thanks for the wonderful avatar. |

Indeed it does. From what I can tell, it basically does sound like sickle-cell, and at a young age it is extremely fatal...yet the games imply that Hub did not die of other diseases, just as a complication of the congenital defect. Perhaps some of the erythrocytes got lodged in an artery and he died of an ischemic attack.
That was pretty much all speculation. Feel free to debate. _________________ Today, these three players are after Big Bucks! But they'll have to avoid the Whammy, as they play the most exciting game of their lives! From Television City in Hollywood! It's time to 'Press Your Luck!'--Rod Roddy

Oh, you'd be surprised. I know a number of newer fans who have only played BN3 or 4 and have yet to touch the first two.
What I find amusing about this is that, awhile back, someone started a thread for coming up with ideas as to what the HBD stood for; quite a few thought it meant Hub's Body Disease or something along those lines. _________________ Stuck In The Middle With You; a Metroid and Halo crossover

I don't really blame them in a way. I mean look at the battle system in one. It's really bad and the graphics aren't that great. _________________ Avatar by May, many flowers and thanks for the wonderful avatar. |

Ah...so HBD is real. Just thought it was a fictional heart disease made for the sake of the games. _________________ I can't help you. I don't speak English.

I'm actually suprised they left it in, In sonic Adventure 2, a girl named Maria died of a disease called "SIDS" but in the US version, they made it look like she got shot instead.
Anyway
Saito lived to the age of 1 before he died :0 _________________ Here's lookin' at you kid. |

Well, it isn't that directly. As you've read, HBD is a defect of the blood cells, and that will indirectly lead to heart failure. After all, a lack of proper oxygenation is always the root of these problems. _________________ Today, these three players are after Big Bucks! For the third time, a blood problem can easily lead to a heart problem, in fact, a by-pass is a change of veins in the heart due to problems caused by colesterol and such; and if they didn't make the by-pass it could lead to a heart attack.
So, the HbD may easily lead to a heart stop such as leukemia does. _________________

Makes sense that HBD is similar to sickle-cell anemia... loss of the blood would cause difficulty in blood flow, meaning that the heart wouldn't be able to pump as much as usual, thus starving the victim of oxygen and nutrients. So, yes, that would essentially be an inverse form of a heart attack, in a way, with the heart malfunctioning because of fatally low blood pressure.

(Straying off-topic real quick.) o_O" SIDS is Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, isn't it? That only happens when you are a baby, and die at a random moment, usually due to FAS or pre-natal drug usage that the mother does. Is the SIDS you are referring to a different type of disease, because that seems kind of odd to me.
Wow... I pay too much attention in health class. Kind of ironic since I'm going into computer science. |
