I like to know if anybody uses the VarSwrd. I tried to use some of the properties giving by gamerfaq but for some reason when I do try to follow it, I get hit by a virus' attack. I used aura to block the attack, but the end result I got was a sword. I was doing the easy move which was widesword. Can anybody give me any tips on excuting one of the properties? You know all the swords possibility.

Oh do you execute at the window or at the battle?

VarSword is incredibly useful. Although I am not proficient, there is one and only one function I know and use--the LifeSword. It is sturdy and versatile enough to see use in many games. Well, the window for execution of the sword is about a second and a half, so enemies shouldn't hit you then. You'll be fine.

Elemental Wave-Slash and the other one requires hitting the B button. I'm sorry, but I simply do not have enough hands to execute that move.

You're supposed to hold in A when you do the commands during battle. You just need to be quick. If you get it, there SHOULD be a sound confirmation...but I haven't tried it in 4... If you screw up by pressing an extra button or something it fails.

In other words don't go : Down, Down-Right, Right, Up-Right, Up

Just go: Down, Right, Up

...of course if that's what it tells you to do.

I got pretty good at the Variable Sword chip during Battle Network 4. Seeing how that game gave me sooo many, I sorta was forced to use them. Most of the time, I go into my back row, and then... Hold A, back B forward B, Sonicu Boooma! Always fun to do that, and don't get me started on the Neo Variable Sword, that chip is damn awesome. Hold A, forward, back, forward B, Supaa Sonicu Boooma!! It goes THROUGH the enemies, man I love that one. I know it's obviously better to use the Life Sword combination when using NeoVari(seeing how it hits twice), but I just like using Super Sonic Boom soooo much, looks awesome. Man I'm rambling, sorry. But that is my favorite uses of the Variable Swords. :]

A great way to practice with VarsSword is to pause in battle, hold down A, then input the sequence several times until you have it down, then un-pause without letting go of A and enter the sequence one more time. Yeah, it's technically cheating, but as I said you should only be doing this to practice anyway. After a few battles doing it that way I was able to do the Elemental Sonic Boom easily without pausing.

The elemental sonic is definitely the best technique you can perform, too bad it's only in BN3 to my knowledge. Unlike the triple sonic boom, it doesn't make navis blink invulnerable after the first hit, so you can get all four hits in for a total of 720 damage, totally kicking the ElemSword PA's ass.

Just to add on to something about the Variable Sword, in 4.5, the Variable Sword and Neo Variable Swords perfrom a random slash.

I'm sooooooooooooo not good at imputing the codes for this chip. But I use it all the time in 4.5. You don't have to do a dang thing. You navi will just do a sword attack.... not exatly random as it seems to use a sword code that fits the perdickament your in.

I love VarSwrds, but never managed to master ElemSonic. Sonic Boom still gives me trouble. But a charged NeoVari CrossSword? Oh man, that so takes the cake!

Oh, and Raijin? It's 160 x4. 640, not 720.

I use both VarSword and NeoVari in 4.5. It's kinda frustrating really, cause all I really want my Rockman to do is use a Sonic Boom cause the enemy is far away, or just use a Life Sword because I already have an Area Steal in place... but no... Rockman jumps around randomly, then does a Long Sword or something, most of the time missing the enemy completely.

Ok so what buttons do you press to use the sword. I get lost very easily with the directions that faqs give me. Enzan Chaud gives a seem to be simple step but I don;t know if it works with the complex step.

OK, for example, LifeSword is used by holding down A, then rotating your thumb clockwise around the D-pad a full 360, from down to down again.

That's odd. My Starman usally does a Sonicboom. And he normaly gets the enemy.

I just randomly mesh the buttons. Some effect comes out...once I got the Elemental Wave Slash.

Wow really? Aw man, maybe my Rockman isn't as good when it comes to Variable Swords... every other chip I give him he uses fine, he goes right to where he is needed and uses it just fine. Maybe if I tell him to move to the back row, THEN slot it in, I dunno, I'll try using it more often, hopefully he'll get the hang of it...

Man, 4.5 is such an awesome game.

Well, it could be possible that different attacks have a higher chance of working depending on the navi used...
No idea if that's right though.

I use Variable sword quite a bit, I can't ever do the elemental thingy, but I still do fairly well with the Sonic Boom.

If I remembered correctly, there ISN'T any elemental sonic boom in bn 4 (possibly in bn 5 too; haven't try yet.) There is only so far one in bn3; you can't do a elemental sonic boom in bn4. (It's too cheap anyway; you can kill almost any virus with four sword slashes of the damage of 160+elemental effects.)

I put about 3-4 varswords in my whole folder. I am really good at the sonic boom and life sword; I almost never mess up. (Unless I get nervous.) I love NeoVari sword; I only do the super sonic boom on it, though. (Cross attack is too hard to hit, and the double life sword is too hard to pull it off.) I suggest you practice at the dog house with the mettaurs to get your varsword skill better. At least that's where I got my skills from.
