I've loved this series long before I even knew what anime was. Actually, I've loved this series long before I even knew how to speak English. I've grown up with Doraemon (though I prefer the name Ding Dong since that was what I was introduced to it as) and it's always held a special place in my heart. I always love it when Ding Dong/Doraemon digs into his pocket for one of his numerous gadgets.

Ah...Doremon...the wonders of childhood. I've held a special place in my heart for the earless cat...always have...always will.

Just recently got to see Doraemon...
It's pretty entertaining, but the people releasing it are being slow x_x

I don't know how far back I can remember about this...let's see...

Like what AMZ said before, this anime was the first one I've ever watched (me and my older brother, actually. XD) even before I knew what is anime.

I once wondered why Doraemon didn't have any ears when he's a robot designed with cat specifics. And then I watched this movie (which was the prequel of the series) and it's very sad to see how Doraemon was depressed when he lost his set of ears. [spoil:6acde5ed2b]A mouse ate his pair of ears when he was sleeping. For this he was considered odd. For this, he was very sad. He accidentally drank a bottle of paint remover (he was going for a painkiller of sorts) and cried on top of a VERY tall building until all the paint on him was removed (he was originally orange; that's how he was blue in the beginning of the series)..[/spoil:6acde5ed2b] It was, again, really sad. ;_;

But then, I like the idea and design of the gadgets Doraemon has inside his 3-Dimensional Pocket. Makes you think you'd want Doraemon for your personal needs, with all those nifty gadgets. XD

Also, Doraemon's background is also interesting to know. [spoil:6acde5ed2b]He's a second-class robot with a loose screw, unlike his robot sister, Doremi, who was a first-class robot (first-class robots have a patterned pocket, while second-class ones have a plain pocket). He was the only flawed second-class robot, because while he was still in the production factory, he was struck by a lightning bolt. XD[/spoil:6acde5ed2b] When I first watched the film that was the prequel of the whole series, I laughed when the film revealed his background story. XD

On top of all, Doraemon was a VERY special anime to me (better than animes today) and will have a special place in my heart. I will remember this anime until death. T_T

That's also the reason why he's afraid of mice.

Aah. I remember that. I watched about five of six of those movies when I was about seven or so. I loved how he could pull just about anything out of his little pouch. I enjoyed the stuff you put up here. Thanks.

Childhood memories...they're coming back to me.

Somewhere in my grandmother's house, we had tapes with the movies (or episodes, I never really knew much about it) 1-5 and then like 7 or 8. It was fun and entertained me throughout childhood.

Wouldn't have even remembered this without this topic. How I miss my youth.

I used to watch it whenever I get back from school. i have the whole series on DVD. *looks at his Doraemon DVD collection*

So what are your favorite Doraemon movies? Mine are the one where Doraemon goes to space and meets a lot of kids from other planets, and the one where they found a civilization that thrived solely on wind to do their everyday chores. I forgot the names, though. ;-;

Really? I thought he turned blue out of shock from the incident.

I loved this show when I was a kid. Between me and my friend, we have every single manga book that was out (in chinese). My favorite gadget was always the "Dokodemo Door" (Anywhere Door). That would be such an awesome tool to have.

Oh, I don't know if this is true, but according to some article I read a long time ago, the story behind Doraemon [spoil:36061daacc]is about a kid (the kid that Doraemon helps. Nobito I think he's called?) who has an incurable disease or something. So in his mind, he made up adventures where he would be helped out by a robotic cat from the future.[/spoil:36061daacc] I don't know if this is true though, but it's pretty sad.

Too bad that door was used to go mainly Shizuka's bath by accident...lol

Also...[spoil:1944497e09]I thought that he turned blue from crying the paint away...and I also thought he was sent from the 22nd century by Nobito's grandson or a decedant of his to help him and to make him marry Shizuka...[/spoil:1944497e09]

Actually [spoil:4e2961f4ad]Doraemon was sent back in time by Nobita's grandchildren because in they were having such a bad life because Nobita had done so poorly in his childhood. So they sent Doraemon back to help him through his life so that they could live a better one in the future.[/spoil:4e2961f4ad]

I know that. Kinda weird. XD

Also, did you know that [spoil:2ce0ca4fe9]his bell is used to call cats, and that the mangaka of Doraemon (Fujio F. Fujiko) got the idea of Doraemon after he tripped on his son's cat doll[/spoil:2ce0ca4fe9]?

When I was a kid, my favorite movies were any of the ones that involved dinosaurs. The very first movie I saw, though, was the "Journey to the West" one.

Also, I've only seen the movies and episodes in Cantonese. Most of which were on laser disc (yes, that's how old some of them were).

Ah yes. Cantonese laser discs. I think I have watched what meager collection I have, but I can't seem to find them anymore. There's also the plight of not being able to understand Cantonese as wel...
