Okay, there's a bit of a problem with people having usernames that are ridiculously long and without spaces. These stretch out and completely screw up the forum layout. Can we PLEASE PM these people so they can get them changed? (Those with underscores can probably just replace them with spaces.)
Current problematic names that I've found by skimming through the member list: (Accounts with 0 posts are marked with an asterisk. And no offense to anyone on the list.)

As long as they don't cause the server to crash, let them be. At worst, the forum layout is warped very slightly to account for the name. Besides, I think it would be wrong to ask people to change their name because it was a few characters too long. It's their name. It would be oppressive.
After all, my name has sixteen characters, and I never have any bearing on the appearance of the forum. On that list, the minimum that you have up there is seventeen charcters. I think that seventeen and eighteen character names are fine, and they do not mess with the forum or do so not very appreciably. A common poster around here has an eighteen character name, and whenever that user posts, nothing is different, or at least, the changes are too small to be of much matter. Don't believe me? Perhaps an experiment is in order. _________________ Today, these three players are after Big Bucks! But they'll have to avoid the Whammy, as they play the most exciting game of their lives! True enough, but whenever Forte_the_forgotten_power or FearBeforeThMarchOfFlames posts, there will be a slight stretching of the page, and some people (like me :P) are easily annoyed by such a disruption of common forum area.

OK, you got me. Names over twenty characters push it for me. There's only so far that I will allow a name to go before it becomes disruptive to the whole forum. _________________ Today, these three players are after Big Bucks! I suppose OkashiraShinomori probably wouldn't cause any problems, but "get_out_of_my_way" will due to the width of underscores.
And the reason your name doesn't screw anything up is because there's a space in it, allowing word wrap.
And Nazne, calling that a "slight" stretching of the page is like saying the Pacific Ocean has "some" water. >_< Honestly, I think this is bad enough to count as a problem:
http://webpages.charter.net/poochy/ForumScrewup.png
Yet this is a problem that can be easily fixed if they just take out underscores and add some spaces. _________________ Math problems? Call 1-800-[(10x)(13i)^2]-[sin(xy)/2.362x]. |

I don't think it's much of a problem unless they are going to cause problems in posts. |

I think that a limit in the name maybe over the top, but with the who posted this and who last posted, then maybe parts of the name can be cut off.
er then again is some comes and calls themsleves
Iamatotalrockmanexeandbluesfangirl
then that can be a problem, but i don't think that will become real
then maybe max 20 or 22 characters for names? _________________

If it's so much of a problem, then why not a 25ish letter cutoff. If it's 20 or below, what would happen to the people who have over 20 characters to begin with? I have 21 characters in my name. It wraps though, so there should be no issue with mine =). No one's ever complained to me about it and I have it on every forum I go to : o. _________________

Underscores don't count as a new word, so people who use underscores have their entire name counted as one word. And at around the 130-pixel mark, we start having problems. (FearBeforeThMarchOfFlames is 187 pixels wide, by the way.) Plus the fact that underscores are 8 pixels wide while most others are 4-6 pixels doesn't help, either.
And I noticed that the layout on this page looks a bit different (read: goofy) now that maverick_hunter_17 has posted. Could you please ask to have your username changed to "maverick hunter 17" or something like that so it at least wraps? _________________ Math problems? Call 1-800-[(10x)(13i)^2]-[sin(xy)/2.362x].

I understand. Then you think it's possible to disable the use of underscores? Would it also be possible to impliment usernames that are over 15 characters to have at least one space, and/or names with over 20 characters to have at least 2 spaces? _________________

Putting in a "*_*" filter (without the quotes) should fix the problem.
Also, there wouldn't be much of a point in a 2-space requirement for names over 20 characters, as one space will already split it into two words and thus allow wrapping. _________________ Math problems? Call 1-800-[(10x)(13i)^2]-[sin(xy)/2.362x]. |

Or just disable names that obscenely long entirely? It's pointless to have a name that long in the first place, notice how all the long names are horribly stupid? ~.~ |

Wait, scratch what I said about the 130-pixel mark earlier. After taking some measurements, It's more around 135-140 pixels or so, and maverick_hunter_17 is 134 pixels. Although the layout still looks a bit goofy to me, but that might be my eyes playing tricks on me.
Conclusion: maverick_hunter_17 shouldn't be causing any problems with page stretching, so I'll quit nagging you. Unfortunately, that's also the shortest name in the list, so I can't eliminate anything else quite yet. _________________ Math problems? Call 1-800-[(10x)(13i)^2]-[sin(xy)/2.362x]. |

OK. Next on the list are FinalCosmostheUltra and get_out_of_my_way, but they have never posted. Let us disregard them for the moment.
The next shortest one is Enzan_Blues_FanGirl. Hey wait. I know her! She's the only reason I got here in the first place. Nonetheless, this must remain strictly official and investigative. I'll see if I can coax her into posting, and we'll see what happens. The thing is, she has posted quite often, and the forum seems fine. Perhaps her name is at the limit of those that do not affect the layout...
Edited to add: Well, we certainly have an upper limit. Here's the proof. http://www.kishuku.com/reo/viewtopic.php?t=1237
I can't go about measuring that. _________________ Today, these three players are after Big Bucks! But they'll have to avoid the Whammy, as they play the most exciting game of their lives! From Television City in Hollywood! It's time to 'Press Your Luck!'--Rod Roddy

Never mind, I checked her too. 135 pixels at large size, also just under the limit. No problem, although there is a slight stretching of the thread list.
And by my calculations with a few measurements from your link, the upper limit should be 143, although stretching on the thread list page starts at a lower number.
Edit: This also eliminates Enzan_Blues_FanGirl, FinalCosmostheUltra, and get_out_of_my_way from the list. _________________ Math problems? Call 1-800-[(10x)(13i)^2]-[sin(xy)/2.362x].

I assume 'slight' as in several pixels, or something that would not be noticeable unless it is placed under careful scrutiny?
Next up are names that will probably cause a notable shift. Perhaps this is where we shall draw the line.
Edited: Here's one. The shift is noticeable, but not too inconvenient. http://www.kishuku.com/reo/viewtopic.php?p=22618&highlight=#22618

i have changed my mind again but still
iamatotalrockmanandbluesfangirl kind of name is over the top but is it was
i am a total rockman and blues fangirl, well then the name will wrap i hope. but on the fourm site were it says, posted by bahbahbah, then there is a problem.
about the underscore thing, they shouldn't be used cuz
I_am_a_total_rockman_and_blues_fangirl is the same problem as before.
in other words, underscores shouldn't be used unless a short name such as "blues_fangirl" can be understood. _________________
