Well, they both run on the same type of arcade cabinet, so they can share a topic. XD
Now, I'm sure most of you have heard of at least the first game, but I'll give an explanation. Dance Dance Revolution, more commonly known as DDR, is a dancing game. In summary, you pick a song, then while it plays, arrows scroll by on the screen. When the arrows line up with a set of arrows at the top of the screen, you have to step on that arrow on the dance pad, which is a large pad slightly smaller than a square yard. It's fairly simple.
In the Groove, however, is somewhat different. The gameplay, for the most part, is the same. However, the game, instead of being by Konami, is produced by an American company called Roxor Games. The software runs on a "boxor", which is a custom computer running Linux. You have to hollow out a DDR machine to stick it inside. XD The major differences between DDR and ITG are that ITG has mines, which you can't step on or you lose a bit of your groove meter (or whatever it's called), and on occassion, you need to use your hands to hit 3 or 4 arrows at once.
So...anyone else play either of these games? _________________

DDR is god. -.-
ITG sounds like it wouldn't be as good. I don't know about you, but using one's hand doesn't really seem to match up with the whole dancing thing. |

Gotta love DDR. I have the computer version of it and I hope I can get a real dance mat someday. Playing with keyboard only can be quite boring over time. My favourite songs are Healing Vision and it's Angelic Mix, Final Fantasy Unlimited - Vivid and Romancing Train, and of course Sakura, Nori nori nori, Burning Heat, Candy and Kakumei. I still play on Light mode, as standard is an overkill on most cases. ^^; _________________

BWAHAHAHAHA! DDR. I am DDR god! Or...at least at my school. My favorite Mix would prolly be MAX or Extreme JP. They had Extreme Jp and I played MAX.(period) on Heavy and almost beat the guy who played me! It was fun. I can't wait till the next one.
...Y'know what I can't stand...? people who are like "zomg i want teh buttterflay plzlolzomgplzomg y cant i hav buttflay lololomgplzwtf". It's lisenced you fools! >_<
On a side note::shadow: <--Awsome
Oh. I got my first Triple A (AAA XD)On...I forget...-.- But I got one! it's on my phone! Or..the picture is. ^^
What's everyone's favorite song? And can you freestyle?
Favorite song: Probably a MAX or something fast. PARANOiA's are good too. i can freestyle to Rhythm And Police (MAX, Extreme). On light, but it's still a freestyle. I can spin, use my hands and knees, and cool stuff like that. Oh and I can do almost every bit of Afronova (light) backwards without looking! _________________ all i ever wanted was the world |

I agree, hands are a bit awkward to use the first few times you play In the Groove, but after that, they get oddly fun. XD
My favorite songs from DDR are Mahou no Tobira (I <3 anything I can get 20 or less greats on), pretty much anything by BeForU or any of the members (Riyu Kosaka, Yoma Komatsu), Sakura, The Least 100sec, and Be Lovin. X3
I'm just going to stick my favorites from In The Groove in here too, for kicks. Disconnected (also the Hyper and Mobius remixes), July, Xuxa, Mellow, Tell, VerTex, Euphoria, and Pandemonium. (most of those are actually by the same person. Just like DDR's Naoki syndrome. XD)
On another note, most of the music by one of the In the Groove artists is available for free download from a website, would I be allowed to post the link?
Oh, and In the Groove has difficulties of up to 13-feet. <3 _________________

DDR is my life. I love that game. I used to suck, but now I can do any light, most standard, and a good amount of heavy. My favorite songs include: both B4Us, Rythm and Police, INSERTiON, LoM, Kick The Can, MAX300, Drop The Bomb, Healing Vision, Look To the Sky, and a few others...And Iceman: I'm sure I could FS, but until my average rating on Light Mode is atleast AA, I'm not gonna even try to FS, I'm getting better so I should be able to start soon.
Also, can anyone else here play doubles?
And what kind of pads do people here use? I use a R.O Ignition, and I love it to death... _________________

I love DDR but I'm at beginner level and I can do a few standards. Though I hopelessly addicted to 3, 2, 1, Stars. The song just plays over and over in my brain @_@ _________________ Roses are #FF0000, violets are #0000FF. All my base are belong to you.

He is, trust me. XD
I'm actually pretty good at DDR for someone who's only been playing for aobut a year and a half. I play Heavy except for some songs like the MAX series, which I can do on Standard (not including Maximizer, I can do that on heavy). _________________ I think that someone is trying to kill me,

I was just playing and I finally can FS and do doubles. My best doubles record is a A and I'm just starting to FS but I can do all sorts of spins and such...And Neko, dont feel alone...3 2 1 Stars plays it self in my head every 5 seconds...it's annoying...Anyway, what is everyone's best records for Heavy, Standard and Light? My best light is a AA, standard a A, and heavy a B. _________________
