Okay, here's something that's been on my mindever since I started writing a fic of mine...
Why in the world did the creators of Rockman.exe mash America and Europe into one continent? As Midnight Critic pointed out in another thread, it is impossible, at least in our world, for America and Europe to move together due to the Mid-Atlantic Ridge.
Then I started thinking about other crazy places that are just stuck all over the map. Russia, Africa, Japan, and China are all where they belong, but where are Kingland and Creamland and all those other places supposed to go?
And what's up with Dingo and his tribe? Are they trying to mash the Aborigines and the Native Americans together, as well?
I am deepy confused. If anyone else wants to talk about this, feel free to do so.

How ever right you may be, this is a very strange topic. But yes, I have noticed the odd name-mashing of countries.

Well, I always thought Jawaii was Rockman.exe's version of Jamaica. ^^;; I guess it does seem like a few Rockman locals are very loosely modeled on real locations.

Please don't tell me you are looking for meaningful explanations on how the EXE world and its reversed or amalgamated locations came to be, because that would be very, very sad. The locations are named the way they are as a joke, nothing more. Amerope is just plain America combined with Europe. There's no cataclysmic event that brought these continents together. It's just an alternate universe and they just happen to be one and the same.

Anyway, the geography of the anime world actually looks identical to our world. You may remember in the second episode of the second season, Madd is upset about being the only one left in Japan while everyone else is vacationing in Jawaii, and when she screams the camera zooms out to show the earth. They may have shown other shots of maps other times, but I don't remember them.

With that in mind, every doppelganger place is likely in the same location as its real life counterpart. Amerope is likely in North America's place, just like in EXE4. Then Sharo just takes up the space left by Europe.

Of course the anime map is different from the game map in certain areas. I'd post the game map reference I made again, but I think everyone in this forum has seen it already.

Not quite everyone, Raijin, but it's all good. :]

Yeah, there isn't any rhyme or reason for the warped nations of the EXE universe.

However, I beg to differ that the Anime world is exactly like ours. The basic concept may be the same, but America has been severly squashed and Canada has been enlarged somewhat. -Points to Stream opening- The basic idea is similiar the same, but obviously they've swapped some things about (sarcasm) to make life tough for us Americans(/sarcasm).

And I mean absolutely nothing by that sarcastic remark.

*looks at Stream opening and sees no maps of North America whatsoever.* Come again?

While I'm not sure what you mean by Canada being bigger that America, I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with an insult. Keep in mind that if it's a rectangular map, Canada will often look much larger than the US simply because the top and bottom areas of the map get stretched out in order to fill out the area left by flattening out the globe. On top of that, Canada is has more land mass than the US to begin with.

While the country names are different, some places are still real

for example, Mary's mom is from France

The original series is clearly the real world, Mega Man is from Texas! Razz
EXE's geography is based heavily on our own, they just make alot of spoofy names for places, each one seems to have some ability based on a real world trait

Amerope = America Europe - Strong viruses, close to the Ura Internet(sometimes) (High crime rate)
Asina = Asia China - Strong security, known for good food(Stern government)
Sharo = Rosha(Russia) backward - Space research(The space race between America and Russia in the mid 1900's)
Afric = Africa - Tribal, much of Africa still exists in a non-technological state
Japan = Japan yada yada high quality electronics, blah blah bah, though
Creamland/Kingland, ect = Western Europe, many of these countries still have a royal family.
Nation Z = Wily and Regal are from here, we don't know what it is or anything, I believe it is "Australia/New Zealand" area of the EXE world
^ these are of course my own opinion Razz

That's partly why I dislike the US country names, these puns are lost completely for internet puns(which we have enough of already), Was Electopia actually called Electopia BEFORE the network society was invented, before electricity was invented? Was Netfrica actually Netfrica before they got their cyber statues?

Don't forget Choina!

In the anime universe, at least. It's also shown that Sharo and Creamland are fairly close to each other.

And Anime world's Namaste, which is India, but with the name of an eastern greeting.

And I believe Illusion is right about Jawaii being Jamaica combined with Hawaii, either that or just Hawaii with a "J" added to it.

Well, that's unusual... Russia is pretty far away from most parts of Western Europe...
Thanks for the info on the countries, Junkman! It'll come in handy for something I'm writing...

My opinions to flesh it out

Creamland - Britain (Royal family, island nation)
Kingland - Scotland (British accents, Loch Ness Monster)
Nation Z - North Korea (military nation, skilled scientists)
Darkland - Germany (Close to Creamland, militaristic)

And even though it only exists in my fanfic...
Northwest Ameroppa - Canada (Agricultural nation, close ties to Japan)

For some strange reason, I thought Creamland was supposed to be Iceland. I don't know why I thought that, though. .-. *shrugs*

Hey, is there no EXE countires for South/Central America and Mexico? O_o Wierd.

The games mention "South Netopia" which is likely in South America's place. The continent definitely exists in EXE4 and it's the place where NAXA is located. They never mention the continent's name in EXE4, but going from what's said in BN2 and BN3, it IS likely South Netopia/South Amerope.

Eh, I said I wouldn't, but might as well for the newer people. It's still relevant I think. This is a map I drew based on the shape of the EXE4 map, with other places added in, including several un-official locations for fanfic stuff reference.

Don't forget about the brutally frigid temperatures which kicked the living snot out of Napoleon and the Nazis XD PH34R THE RUSSIAN WINTER! And that map seems fairly reasonable. I never really thought much into Geography as far as the countries went, I just thought they were just playing on random countries of the world and having people and cultures commonly found in the area each country was playing off of

Thanks for the map. It will certainly be useful if I can ever get my project off of the ground...

Raijin: Aren't Ajiina and Yumland the same thing? I'm pretty sure Ajiina was translated to Yumland in some of the games (the only one I'm completely sure about is 4 Surprised).

That is correct. But I decided to be a little flexible with my own interpretation. I was already inserting my own cities and countries, so I figured "why not"? The point with having both Asina and Yumland there is I like to use the english names, but I also think some of the original names are important to get the references accross. I figured since only the countries are mentioned, in the games and not the continents, I could get away with giving the left-over names to the continents. So I have Asina as the continent name, and Yumland as the parts not taken by Choina and Sharo. Also, Josuke pointed out last time how silly it was for Capcom to make TWO countries containing "China" in them, so I figured it made most sense to upgrade Asina to a whole continent even though it was originally written as a country.

I did the same thing with Netopia and Amerope, except in reverse. I left Amerope as the country and Netopia as the whole continent.

Odd the Sharo was the only unchanged country name since it's the one most connected to Japanese for its joke. It's simply the two Katakana for Russia, Ro Sha flipped around. A better english equivalent would have been Aissur, but instead we got Sharo, which ends up being a very obscure reference to a regular english speaker.

I think Josu's verifications seem the most on target with every place there. I stll think that Nation Z was slightly inspired by Iraq for obvious reaosn, but considering Japan had nothing to do with...that incedent, and considering Regal DOES almost sort of have a Korean look to him (plus I believe that Japan had some rough times with Korea at point in history, though I'm probably wrong x_x) I think his other guess seems more accurate.

...I hope nobodies gonna think this thread is filled to copacity with stereotyping Uo_o
