It was probably somewhat planned to begin with - he'd need to disappear for a long time eventually, so what better way is there?

Spider never existed, and Redips could probably have easily survived that explosion and such.

i actually got the Spider=Redips backwards when i read the manual (before the game). i thought that redips and spider were just too much of a coo-inky-dink.
