I'm a bit confused though - why did Reed and Flowerman even bother pretending to attack the others?
If it had been to bring other Black Matrix members out to gloat (thus making them open for arrest after Reed revealed that he was only pretending to have switched sides) or otherwise accomplish something, it would have made sense. As it is now, it seems completely pointless. |

You have a point there. But he does have that Dark Chip for evidence, now, so he did get something out of it. Plus he was struggling to deal with his loyalty to Angel, too. |

Yes, but he got the dark chip when Angel talked to him. He didn't need to pretend to turn on his friends.
If it was a genuine internal struggle, though, then it makes more sense, but it didn't seem like he was struggling with himself during the fight scene. It seemed more like a simple back-and-forth "Oh, look, I'm now a bad-guy with a maniacal laugh" -> "Ha-ha, I was just pretending" switch. |

I guess you're right. If I release this on FF.net, I might patch it up a little. |

Here's a new chapter, hopefully with less plotholes than the last.
Episode 19: Fist of The Martial Arts Master!
"In reality, we have only given you a place to start with your own training, Netto. Good luck." Netto was thinking back to Reed's words as he walked down the street. He passed a small archway. Looked up at the sign hanging from above, he saw he was at a Netbattling dojo.
"Netbattling dojo... this might be a good place to train." Netto thought.
"If you think it's a good idea, Netto, I'll go along with you." Rockman responded.
Netto walked up a flight of stairs to see a woman waiting for him. She was wearing a white karate gi and a black belt, indicating she was of the highest rank. Her long black hair was braided back with a red headband.
"We have a new student, I see." the woman responded. "Nice to meet you. My name's Pao."
"My name's Netto." he responded. "Please, Pao-sama, I would like you to train me and my Navi."
"You're being exceptionally polite, Netto. Come with me." Pao led Netto towards a battle console in the middle of a stone square.
"Your training begins now. Plug-in, FighterMan! Transmission!" Pao pointed a white PET with a red cover to the console.
"Plug-in, Rockman! Transmission!"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"We must deal with two enemies now." Angel was facing the back window of her office, looking out onto the rocky shores of Black Island. "First, Hikari Netto and his Navi Rockman have been consistently interfering in our plans. Secondly, we also have to deal with the betrayal of Reed."
"What do you want me to do about it?" Dr. Rutherford stood in the center of the office.
"Netto is currently training at a Netbattling dojo. While he is forced to focus his efforts on his training, we will be able to easily crush Rockman." Angel had thought out the plan several times through.
"This will be easy to do." Rutherford laughed.
"Take this with you." Angel threw several Dark Chips to Rutherford.
"Nice... very nice..."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rockman was standing in front of his instructor. He wore a red karate gi, black belt, and black headband. Slick brown hair streamed down to his elbows. White boots and gloves complimented his uniform.
"Are you ready to train, Rockman?" FighterMan asked.
"Yes, I am." he responded.
"For this lesson, you will have to rely on all your senses, Rockman. Not just your sight. Afterimage Punch!" FighterMan started rapidly running at Rockman, leaving blurred duplicates behind him. He circled Rockman several times and punched him in the chest. Rockman put out his fist towards FighterMan, but missed.
"Your sight decieves you, Rockman!" FighterMan was pointing out the flaws in Rockman's technique. "You will have to rely on your other senses!"
"Your other senses..." Netto thought. "Rockman, close your eyes!"
"Okay!" Rockman shut his eyes. He focused on what he could hear and feel. A gusting of wind could be heard from FighterMan's running as air currents pushed against Rockman. He struck towards the source of the gust and could feel his hand make contact.
Rockman opened his eyes to see FighterMan stumbling back.
"Pretty good, Rockman. You've managed to fight without relying on your eyesight whatsoever. Think of the advantage that could give you in battle." FighterMan prepared for his next lesson. "You'll have to avoid a sequence of attacks. Tatsumaki Senpuu Kyaku!"
FighterMan leapt into the air and broke into a spinning kick, which Rockman shuffled back to avoid.
"Hadouken!" FighterMan put his arms out and a blue fireball shot out from his hands. Rockman leapt into the air to dodge it.
"Not a good idea. Shouryuuken!" FighterMan leapt into the air, energy diffusing from his right hand in an uppercut. Rockman was hit in midair and flew toward the ground.
"You improperly dodged my second attack and therefore were hit by my third one." FighterMan pointed out what Rockman did wrong. "In the future, be careful about the moves you make." Rockman nodded.
"Now, Rockman, try to strike me down with just your hands." FighterMan got into a defensive posture.
Rockman ran at FighterMan, who sidestepped to the right.
"Rely on all your senses, Rockman."
Rockman stood still in front of FighterMan, and felt his opponent breathing against him. Rockman started punching, and could feel his hands being blocked.
"You need to concentrete on where you are attacking, Rockman!" FighterMan pointed out.
Rockman started speeding up his punches, and could feel the blocking speeding up to match.
"You won't be able to block this!" Rockman crouched, and rapidly swept FighterMan's leg, knocking him over.
"Good call." FighterMan complimented as he got up off the ground. "I think we'll finish training for today."
"That's it?" Rockman asked.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rutherford stood at the entrance to the dojo.
"The time is now. Rockman doesn't know we're here. Eliminate him, ClockMan."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"That's it?" Netto asked. "We barely did anything today!"
"Before you can a fighting technique, you must master the most important technique of all... patience." Pao explained cryptically.
"Okay..." Netto was trying to wrap his mind around what she had said.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rockman was thanking FighterMan for his assistance. ClockMan was lurking in the shadows.
"Timer Ball!" ClockMan shot out a ball of energy with a 3.0 on it. As it sped towards Rockman, the number ticked down until it hit 0 and exploded, knocking Rockman and FighterMan to the ground.
"Someone else is here." FighterMan noted. "Come out, you without honor!"
ClockMan stepped out of the shadows.
"Attacking your opponent without showing your face is a coward's tactic." FighterMan scolded ClockMan for his strategies. "Your dishonor cannot go unpunished."
"You are not the one I am here for." ClockMan pointed out. "Rockman. It is with great disappointment that I must say... the Black Matrix has seen fit that it is now... your time."
"You want to delete Rockman, do you?" Netto asked. "Well, you're going to have to try very hard."
"Will I?" Rutherford chuckled. "Dark Gauge, slot-in!"
Rutherford carefully slid the Dark Chip into his PET.
The clock that made up a good portion of ClockMan's body suddenly accelerated to unbelievable speed.
"Spacetime Fracture!" ClockMan raised his arms and froze Rockman in place.
"Rockman! Rockman!" Netto could not believe his Navi could be defeated so easily.
"This is dishonorable." Pao interjected. "FighterMan, intervene."
FighterMan walked towards ClockMan.
"You come here and you attack my student with a sneak attack. You render him defenseless. You live without honor, and you will die without honor. Hadouken!"
FighterMan shot a fireball at ClockMan's body, creating hairline cracks his clock body.
"No... I will not give up! Dark Gauge!" ClockMan's body took on a dark glow as he put his arms out.
"Be one with the void! Chronal Vortex!" ClockMan created a massive wormhole in front of him, which sucked Rockman's still body and FighterMan toward it.
"I've got to protect my student!" FighterMan ran and picked up Rockman, and ran from the vortex to get him to safety.
"There's nowhere to run." ClockMan cackled. "The vortex absorbs all." Suddenly, ClockMan realized that his body was being pulled towards the vortex due to the sheer power.
"No! I can't let my own Navi get sucked in!" Rutherford yelled. "ClockMan, plug-out!"
ClockMan left, and the vortex with him.
FighterMan looked off into the distance as movement returned to Rockman's body.
"Thank... you..." Rockman was beginning to speak again.
"You fight with honor, regardless of whether you win. I appreciate that." FighterMan complimented.
"You're a good man, Netto." Pao pointed out. "You are a striking example of honor in a battler."
"I could say the same for you." Netto responded.
"Come back again for more training, anytime!" Pao called out to Netto as he left.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I give you one of my Dark Chips, I give you the chance to attack the enemy when they aren't expecting it, and what do I get? The explanation that you were nearly defeated by your own attack?" Angel was fuming.
"I'm sorry, Lady Black." Rutherford was on his knees. "The Dark Chip was much more powerful than I expected."
"The Dark Chip was too powerful for you? Then you're too weak. Ken, I think we should toughen him up. Don't you?"
"No... no!" Rutherford was screaming as Ken grabbed him by the collar and dragged him out of the office.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pao was looking towards the sunset at her dojo as a familiar face came by.
"Nero, I didn't think I'd see you here." Pao told the boy.
"I heard the Black Matrix was here." Nero responded. "Guess I'm a bit late."
"Missed his stop twice. I eventually convinced him to walk." CyberMan pointed out.
"Same old Nero, I see." Pao laughed. "So, I guess you're here on vigilante business as usual?"
"You say it as if it's a bad thing. I'm just trying to help enforce the law. Speaking of which, Rockman's training here, isn't he?"
"Yes. Why?"
"You can't let him know your secret. It may comprimise my... our mission." Nero took on a serious tone.
"As far as he knows, I'm just a friendly martial artist. He doesn't have a clue." Pao was confident at her handle on the situation.
"Good. Don't let him find anything out."

Episode 20: Net Diving! Robin's Arrogant Attack
Netto, Meiru, Dekao, and Yaito were shopping downtown.
"It sure is a lot more dangerous than it used to be." Yaito was slightly worried.
"You don't know where the Black Matrix is going to strike next." Meiru added.
"Nowhere seems to be safe." Dekao thought.
Suddenly, a screen above the road displayed an advertisement.
"Dive into excitement!" was the simple slogan of the ad.
"That's the fourth time this hour." Dekao pointed out. "It's supposed to be for something called Net Diving."
"Net Diving?" Meiru asked.
"It's skydiving for Navis, apparently." Netto told everybody.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rockman, Roll, GutsMan, and Glyde were discussing the concept.
"I think Net Diving sounds quite interesting." Glyde told everyone.
"I think I'm going to try it." Rockman decided.
"If you're going to try it, I'm going to try it." Roll suggested.
"If Roll will try it, I will try it, de gutsu." GutsMan told Roll.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Dive into excitement!"
Robin switched off the TV in the Black Matrix breakroom.
"They think they can have for themselves the sport what they took away from me? I cannot allow this."
He got up from the couch he was laying on and turned to Ken, who was sitting at a table writing in a notebook.
"If anyone's looking for me, I have some business to attend to in Densan." Robin walked out of the room.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Netto and the others were at Higureya, which was a certified Net Diving equipment dealer.
"Good afternoon, demasu!" Higure told Netto as he came out of the back room. "Let me guess. Net Diving equipment, demasu?"
Netto nodded.
"Well, just plug in and see what you like, demasu."
"Okay then. Plug-in, Rockman! Transmission!"
"Plug-in, Roll! Transmission!"
"Plug-in, GutsMan! Transmission!"
"Plug-in, Glyde! Transmission!"
Rockman and his friends arrived in a room with various parachute packs. NumberMan stood in front of them.
"Try on whatever you like, see me when you're done." The computer in NumberMan's head blinked and beeped as he spoke.
Rockman picked up a black pack off the floor and slung it over his shoulder. Roll was dangling a red container at her side. GutsMan was holding a yellow container in his fists. Glyde was carrying a white pack.
"We'll take these." Rockman told NumberMan.
"Okay." Higure took payment from Netto. "There's a jump site outside Net City. You can access it from any Net Diving terminal in Densan. They're at arcades everywhere. I even saw one at the airport the other day."
"Let's go!" Netto exclaimed as he rushed out. Meiru sighed and ran after him.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Robin entered a small arcade in Densan City's downtown.
"TenguMan. It's time to put an end to Rockman, and this sport!"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Netto, Meiru, Dekao, and Yaito were at the Akihara Arcade, preparing their Navis for the jump.
"Are you all ready?" Netto asked.
"Never readier!" Rockman responded as he strapped on his parachute. He stepped onto a glowing circle and warped up to a platform above the clouds. Roll, GutsMan, and Glyde quickly followed.
"Let's go!" Rockman put his arms out, and fell into the wind. Roll and the others followed suit.
Rockman, Roll, GutsMan, and Glyde quickly got into a circle as they descended through the air.
"This view is beautiful!" Roll was awed as she looked down on Net City's skyline from above.
"We're pretty high, de gutsu." GutsMan stated the obvious.
"Look at all those Navis down there!" Glyde could point out the individual Navis on the ground.
"Well, time to separate." Rockman let go of the others and drifted away as he pulled his ripcord. A blue and gold canopy billowed out of his pack as he slowed down. He could see a white parachute over Roll, a green canopy over GutsMan, and a red and gold chute over Glyde.
"This is great!" Rockman yelled out to the others.
Suddenly Rockman felt a sudden jerk and started falling faster. He looked up to see his lines severed and TenguMan speeding past.
"Fall, fall, fall to your doom!" TenguMan cackled.
"Not so fast!" Netto called out. "Airshoes, slot-in!"
Wings formed on Rockman's boots and he flew up at TenguMan.
"Charge Shot!" Rockman fired an energy burst at TenguMan, striking him.
"Heh. Pathetic. Dark Tornado, slot-in!" Robin inserted a Dark Chip into his PET.
"I may not be able to delete you..." TenguMan laughed. "But your friends... Dark Tornado!"
TenguMan fired a massive cyclone out. The winds caused GutsMan's and Glyde's canopies to collapse, and they started falling.
"Wide Sword, slot-in!" Netto inserted another chip into his PET.
Rockman dived towards GutsMan and Glyde and slashed away their tangled chutes as they deployed their reserves.
"This is between you and me, TenguMan!" Rockman yelled. "Leave them out of it!"
"Why, you're right." Robin chuckled. "Dark Sword, slot-in!"
The sword on TenguMan's arm turned black, and he swung it at Rockman.
"Dark Tengu Blade!"
Rockman circled out of the way and grabbed TenguMan's back.
"Rock Buster!" Rockman shot the jet engine on TenguMan's back, and TenguMan started to go into a dive.
"This isn't over yet!" TenguMan chortled as he banked towards Roll's general direction.
"I won't let you hurt my friends!" Rockman pulled TenguMan's left wing, and he started hurtling towards the ground in a tailspin. Rockman leapt off of TenguMan's back and deployed his reserve.
"This isn't over yet, Rockman!" TenguMan yelled as he rocketed towards the ground.
"Plug-out, TenguMan!" Robin screamed.
TenguMan managed to log out before hitting the ground.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I can't believe it! After all that, Rockman's still not deleted?" Robin was furious.
"Something's bothering you, Robin. What is it?" TenguMan was inquisitive.
"That tall golden Navi... that's the insignia of the Ayanokouji family! You remember that fateful day..."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
GutsMan, Glyde, and Roll landed in an area outside Net City. GutsMan hit the ground with a hard thud. Glyde made a graceful touchdown. Roll tripped and landed on her face, her parachute drifting over her and entagling her.
Rockman quickly joined them, as Roll got up and tried to untangle herself from her canopy. Rockman mistook Roll trying to free herself for a ghost.
"Ahh! Ghost!" Rockman screamed as he ran away.
Roll threw off her chute and sighed.
"Rockman?"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"This turned out pretty fun." Meiru told Netto.
"Even though it was a bit dangerous." Yaito responded.
"We should do this again sometime." Dekao suggested.
"Maybe when this Black Matrix nonsense is all over, we'll go again." Netto told everyone. "What do you say?"
Meiru, Yaito, and Dekao cheered.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Ayanokouji... Ayanokouji... Ayanokouji..." Robin was in a state of shock of confusion. "That day..."

I had a bit of trouble maintaining my writer's drive for this ep, so that might explain some weaknesses in the writing.
Episode 21: The Electel Family's Pride!
Lumina was sitting in her dorm room at the Black Matrix complex, looking at through an old photo album. She flipped through various pages of her as a child with her father.
"Father..."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was a bright, sunny weekend, and Netto was sitting at Maha Ichiban with Sparky. They both had large bowls of curry in front of them, both completely emptied.
"I think we should get some to go." Sparky told Netto.
"I know. This was good curry, and it would be a shame not to have some more." Netto responded.
"No, not what I meant." Sparky corrected Netto. "I wanted to get some more because Reed gets mad when I don't bring him curry and I am not wiring up more lights for his greenhouse."
"Reed, you say?" Hinoken chuckled from the back room. "The young man's probably spent at least a quarter of his paycheck here."
"Anyway, here's an order of curry to go." Count Elec placed a box on the counter as Sparky handed him some bills.
Netto lifted the box as he and Sparky walked out.
"Don't spill any of it!" Sparky scolded Netto on his lack of dexterity. "Reed hates that."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lumina walked down the street into Maha Ichiban just after Netto and Sparky left.
"Hello?" she asked.
Count Elec walked up to the cash register.
"Lumina..." Count Elec was shocked.
"Father..." Lumina spouted out.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Netto and Sparky walked into Reed's office. Netto set the curry down on the desk gently.
"Hey, just as I like it!" Reed was smiling. "Wiggles, Twitchy, time for lunch!"
Reed took his stuffed bunnies off a bookshelf and placed them in front of the curry. He opened a desk drawer and removed three plates and three spoons, and dished up curry. Netto was gazing in anticipation, hoping for more curry. However, after dishing up the curry, Reed slid the plates towards his bunnies.
"Reed, you're serving lunch to stuffed animals." Netto was staring at Reed. "Are you sure you're okay?"
Reed's eyebrows shot up.
"Netto... I'm fine."
Netto could feel a kick in the leg when Reed told him that.
"Anyway, it's a nice day, so instead of wasting it inside on reports, go out on patrol today."
"Okay, Reed." Sparky responded. "You heard him, Netto. We're heading out."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Lumina..." Count Elec gasped. "It's been ten years since I've last seen you..."
"Ten years... since then, I've worked to make you proud." Lumina's jacket was designed in a nearly identical fashion to her father's; it was embroidered with several bright flashing lights.
"I know what you've being doing, Lumina... I'm not proud." Count Elec had several police releases in his pockets.
"I only did it for you! You were once one of the greatest members of World Three!" Lumina was in tears.
"Lumina... I've been a terrible role model for you. You have to stop!" Count Elec was pleading with his daughter.
"I know what's going on... they've gotten to you, haven't they? World Three have made you like this!" Lumina was insane with rage.
"Stop! Lumina! You don't know what you're doing!" Count Elec was panicking.
"BrightMan! Destroy them! Destroy them all!"
BrightMan was in the Maha Ichiban system, preparing for his attack.
"Check it out, check-check-check it out! Bright Laser!" He shot off a massive burst of light, enveloping the computer in a bright glow.
"He's going to destroy my restaurant!" Maha was in a fit. "MagicMan, stop him!"
MagicMan, FireMan, ColoredMan, and ElecMan mobilized to stop BrightMan's assault.
"Magic Fire!" A blue flame shot from MagicMan's arms.
BrightMan jumped over the flame.
"Wide Beam!"
BrightMan shot a laser beam at MagicMan, logging him out.
"Fire Arm!" FireMan ignited his flamethrower and aimed at BrightMan, who rolled underneath and swept him off his feet.
"Aqua Tower!" ColoredMan sprayed a plume of water at BrightMan.
"Plug Lariat!" BrightMan's plugs charged the water and conducted back to ColoredMan.
With his allies logged out, ElecMan charged at BrightMan.
"Don't think I'm going to go easy on you because you're my father." Lumina grinned.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Netto and Sparky were walking down the street when they saw bright lights emitting from Maha Ichiban's windows.
"Great. Just great." Sparky had an inherent sarcasm to what he was saying. "If that place gets destroyed on my watch, Reed will never let me have the end of it."
"And where will I get my curry?" Netto gasped in shock as he ran towards the restaurant. "Hang on, I'm coming!"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Lightning Bolt!" ElecMan shot a ball of electricity at BrightMan.
"Dark Thunder, slot-in!" Lumina inserted a Dark Chip into her PET as her father watched in horror.
"This... is what my daughter has become?" Count Elec asked himself.
BrightMan shot a black ball of lightning at ElecMan, stunning him.
"Now, to finish this." BrightMan cackled. "Plug Lariat!"
BrightMan jammed the plugs on his body into ElecMan's helmet, draining him of all his energy and logging him out.
"Father, you've grown soft." Lumina had a cold stare. "Grandmother would not approve."
"This... is what the Dark Chip's done to my daughter?" Count Elec was mortified.
"The Black Matrix restored the pride I had in my family. After World Three fell, you changed from a strong Netbattler into a cashier for a curry restaurant. Remember what Grandmother taught us? The Electel family line was meant never to fail at anything. You let Rockman defeat you over and over... you're not the father that raised me."
"And you're not the daughter I raised." Count Elec responded bitterly. "My daughter would never do such things for something as trivial as family pride!"
"This restaurant is what has weakened you. I must destroy it." Lumina was beyond all logic.
Suddenly, Netto and Sparky ran into the building.
"Plug-in, Rockman! Transmission!"
"Plug-in, DynamoMan! Transmission!"
Rockman and DynamoMan were in front of BrightMan.
"He doesn't look so tough." DynamoMan laughed. "I won't even need half an ampere to delete him."
"Thunder Ball 1, slot-in!" Sparky inserted a chip into his PET.
DynamoMan put his arm out, and fired off a ball of electricity that curved towards BrightMan.
BrightMan put his plugs out and absorbed the ball, charging up.
"...he'll overload after I do that for a while." DynamoMan attempted to cover for the failure for his attack.
"Bamboo Sword, slot-in!" Netto attempted a different tactic.
Rockman's arm turned into a sword, and he rushed at BrightMan, attempting to cut him down. However, BrightMan ducked and hit Rockman with an uppercut.
"Check it out! I got a hit on the kid!" BrightMan laughed.
"Sumashingu!" Lumina laughed. "Destroy him, BrightMan!"
"Destroy him? No. Destroy me? Maybe." DynamoMan was determined to protect Rockman.
Rockman started glowing as DynamoMan blocked balls of electricity from BrightMan.
Suddenly, Rockman transformed. Rockman's suit and helmet turned gray, and his limbs were covered by insulated tubing. A large green chestplate took form to hold a large glass dome protecting his head. Large green boots and gloves sheltered his feet and hands. His left hand morphed into a collector dish, and his input/output unit turned into a small breaker box.
"Dynamo Soul..." Netto gasped.
"Time for this to end, BrightMan. Lightning Bolt!" Rockman fired a crackling bolt from his collector dish at BrightMan, who absorbed it with his plugs.
"That's right... just absorb it..." DynamoMan snickered.
Suddenly, BrightMan's body started bulging, and his eyes exploded.
"Plug-out before you overload completely, BrightMan!" Lumina yelled.
BrightMan logged out screaming and grasping his face.
"See, what did I tell you?" DynamoMan laughed. "He did overload, didn't he?"
Rockman just stared at the shards of glass on the ground made by BrightMan's exploding.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"You... you!" Lumina was coldly staring at Netto and Sparky. "All of you! You've made my father..." She abrubtly ran out weeping.
"Her father?" Netto asked.
"She was here... to see me." Count Elec sighed.
"See you?" Netto was shocked.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lumina was in the courtyard of the Black Matrix complex that night, looking up at the stars.
"Father, why? Why do you deny our family pride?"

Weak writing but good concept. Maybe you should go over this chapter and see what you can do.
The battle scenes are what need the most work, I know this was for Dynamo Soul but make it a but edgier. _________________ Roses are #FF0000, violets are #0000FF. All my base are belong to you.

Actually, it was also intended to give Lumina some background. Maybe I was trying to do too much in too little time. |

That's probably it. The start of Lumina meeting Count Elec, where things went from "Yay! Daddy!" to "I'm going to blow everything up!" went by way too quickly - there should have been more stuff in between. |

Episode 22: Revenge Tour! Slash's Anger
Slash was looking was watching an old video of one of his concerts.
"I was once on top of the world... fame... fortune... respect... and then the accident took it all away! I ought to find those idiots who did this to me and..." Slash started cackling.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Southeast Ameroppan choreographer Enrique Hernandez was working out some new dance moves in his apartment when a loud guitar riff came from his stereo.
"I thought I switched that off." Enrique got up and looked at the volume knob, which was set to zero. He reached down to unplug it but recieved a painful shock.
"Not so fast." The music faded out and MusicMan's voice fizzled in. "You owe my boss, YOUR boss, an apology..."
"What in the world?" Enrique was terrified.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"That's the first one on the list..." Slash was laughing from a van in the parking lot of Enrique's apartment building. "Now for the next stop on my tour."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Professional fireworks expert Kenji Hinotama was working on a display for a grand opening of a concert hall.
MusicMan entered the firing controls for the fireworks and fired off a warning shot three feet away from Kenji, who gasped in horror.
"Kenji, Kenji, Kenji. Does that remind you of something, of any chance?" MusicMan inquired. "If not, maybe this will."
A firework launched only a few inches away from Kenji's right hand.
"Slash, I'm sorry! I thought the fireworks were too dangerous, but your manager..."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Netto had just gotten out of school when he recieved a message on his PET.
"Netto-kun, it's Nero. He needs to see you about something." Rockman seemed slightly concerned.
"I'm on my way!" Netto responded.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Slash was riding in a Black Matrix van, driven by a low-ranking subordinate wearing a black suit.
"MusicMan," Slash was going over the previous night. "Kenji told us the manager ordered him to set up that display. If you're thinking what I'm thinking..."
"Then it's the manager's fault you were injured at that concert..." MusicMan responded.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Netto walked into Nero's shop.
"You've been doing a good job out there, so I hear, Netto." Nero barely looked up from his monitor. "I made another programmed another component for you."
Nero handed Netto a chip.
"It's called Custom +1." Nero explained his newest creation. "It provides extra available memory to the PET's operating system, allowing more processes to run at once."
"Huh?" The explanation completely went over Netto's head.
"Sorry. I sometimes forget not everybody has a computer science degree. What I mean is, you'll be able to use more battlechips at once." Nero explained.
"Thanks, Nero." Netto was grateful for the new component. "So this is all you called me for?"
"Actually, no." Nero started rapidly clicking.
"I've got to reorganize my files." Nero sighed. "It's a mess in here."
He was finally able to bring up a news article on the screen after twenty seconds.
"Two people were attacked last night." Nero managed to explain the gist of the situation in one sentence. "According to initial police reports, they both heard loud guitar riffs during the attacks. Doing some research, I also found out they also worked for former guitarist and Black Matrix member Slash Marshall."
"Slash!" Netto exclaimed. "He the one doing this!"
"So he is. Apparently, Slash believes his manager is respomsible for the accident that ended his career, and has found out he is in Densan to scout talent. Netto, you're going to prevent a catastrophe. Keep that man safe!"
"All right, Nero. I'm on my way." Netto left the shop.
Nero switched on his computer's microphone.
"Pao, I'm going to need you to keep an eye out."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Slash was riding to downtown Densan.
"MusicMan, it is time. Revenge is ours..."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Netto was running as fast has he could to stop Slash.
"Rockman, how much further?" he asked.
"We only have about three blocks to go." Rockman responded.
Neither of them knew that Pao was watching over them from a highway overpass.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Slash's former manager, Duff McHall, was talking to a woman.
"So, just sign this contract..." he explained.
Suddenly, a black van pulled up and the door opened. Slash leapt out and landed in front of Duff.
"Hello, old friend..." he chuckled.
"Slash! I don't believe it!" Duff was shocked.
"Because of you, I can't play the guitar anymore." Slash started shuffling toward his manager. "That accident ruined me, and it's all your fault!"
"Please, Slash, be reasonable!"
"Reasonable? Reasonable?!" Slash was furious. "I lost my career and my hand, and you simply went on with your life like nothing happened. You destroyed my life, Duff! YOU DESTROYED MY LIFE!"
Netto ran by and saw what was going on.
"We're too late." Rockman was worried.
"Now, you shall suffer by my hand!" Slash yelled. "MusicMan, now!"
The hatch on the back of the van to reveal a stage flamethrower.
"You will experience every single bit of pain that I was forced to suffer!" Slash was insane with rage.
"We've got to stop him!" Netto was terrified. "Plug-in, Rockman! Transmission!"
Pao was standing behind a tree.
"Plug-in, FighterMan! Transmission!"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rockman and FighterMan were in front of the core of the flamethrower's system.
"FighterMan? It's nice seeing you here." Rockman was pleasantly surprised.
"I know a madman when I see one, and that's a madman." FighterMan responded as he pointed to MusicMan.
"Destroy them, MusicMan." Slash laughed. "Dark Sound, slot-in!"
A black La-La Pa-Pa appeared behind MusicMan and fused with his body.
"Bringing Down The House!" MusicMan laughed as he struck his guitar. Debris started raining down on Rockman and FighterMan.
"Tatsumaki Senpuu Kyaku!" FighterMan started spinning in circles, and kicked away the debris approaching him.
"Rockbuster!" Rockman fired shots and blew up the remaining debris.
"Death Metal!" Energy bolts erupted from MusicMan's guitar, knocking Rockman and FighterMan back.
"Hadouken!" FighterMan recovered and struck his enemy with a blue fireball.
MusicMan was blown back.
"This isn't working. I have to invoke the true power of the Dark Chip... Dark Sound!" MusicMan started glowing a deep purple as the black La-La Pa-Pa split from his body.
The virus sent out a series of distorted noises, and Rockman and FighterMan froze in place.
"Guitar Smash!" MusicMan leapt up and hit his guitar against Rockman, knocking him down.
FighterMan managed to break free of his paralysis and dashed at MusicMan to deliver a finishing blow.
"Shouryuuken!"
FighterMan punched MusicMan into the air.
"Now to finish this!" Netto called out. "Custom +1 component activate!"
The prongs on Rockman's input/output unit extended.
"Cannon, Cannon, slot-in!"
Both of Rockman's arms turned into cannons, and he fired at MusicMan, logging him out.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"You may have won that battle, but you're too late." Slash laughed. "It's time for you to understand what I have gone through every waking moment of my life!"
Suddenly, there was a hissing from the van. A column of fire suddenly erupted from the flamethrower in the back, approaching Duff.
Just before making contact, he was tackled out of the way by Pao.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I've got to stop this! Rockbuster!" Rockman fired on the core of the system, destroying it and shutting the machine down.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The flamethrower cooled down and stopped, and Pao and Duff got up.
"Pao!" Netto exclaimed.
"It's a good thing we were able to stop him." Pao responded. "Something could have easily gone wrong."
Slash looked at Pao and Netto.
"You ruined my plans!" He got into his van and rode off.
"You did a good job today, Netto." Pao told Netto.
"You did too." Netto responded.
"Thank you for saving me." Duff was grateful. "...did I get that contract signed? No, I didn't."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pao walked into Nero's shop through the service entrance.
"Pao, you did a good job today." Nero complimented. "However, you could have revealed your status to Netto."
"But I didn't." Pao responded. "Until I do, it's not a problem."
"You have an excellent point. Make sure that it never is a problem."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Slash was sitting on a small metal bed in the Black Matrix complex, staring at a Dark Chip in his fingers.
"My fame, my fortune, my career, destroyed... this is all I have left..."

Episode 23: Black Matrix Raid! Protect The Train!
Angel was looking over a set of blueprints in her office.
"I have to thank my engineers for the work they've done. This will be excellent."
Newton and Frost walked into the office.
"You wanted to see us?" Newton asked.
"Yes..." Angel smiled. "My engineers are working on a... project, and we need a special engine for it."
"A special engine?" Newton asked. "Apparently, that scientist you nabbed a while back tells me that they're shipping a unique engine to a test facility."
"Just give us the word and the engine is yours, Lady Black." Frost told Angel.
"This will be the word: Bring me that engine." Angel laughed.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A team of researchers was loading an experimental thruster on a train car.
A conductor in a red uniform walked up to the head scientist.
"Nice morning for a shipment, isn't it, Professor?" the conductor asked.
"Lionel, I'm a quantitive person, not a qualitive person, I don't really think of words to describe mornings. Just make sure the engine gets to the test facility intact."
Lionel went back to the locomotive where Nero was waiting for him.
"Lionel, you're back from your model train convention, I see." Nero greeted Lionel. "I got a tip the Black Matrix could attack the train. Keep an eye out."
"All right." Lionel responded. "I'll be on guard."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Netto was watching the train being loaded from a window in the Science Labs.
"A team here has been working on a prototype engine," Yuuichiro explained. "that can power flight using electrical energy. Theoretically, we could fly planes using sunlight using this. We're shipping it by train to be tested."
Netto watched as the train pulled away.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A black cargo helicopter was flying over the train. Newton and Frost looked down from the windows of the helicopter.
"Plug-in, GravityMan! Transmission!"
"Plug-in, ArcticMan! Transmission!"
GravityMan and ArcticMan appeared at the controls of the train.
"GravityMan, stop the train!" Newton ordered.
"Gravity Drive!" GravityMan put his hands on the system core, and the train squealed to a stop.
"I'll send viruses to keep the system down." ArcticMan told GravityMan as Kuripon viruses descended from the air. "Attack!"
The Kuripons started sliding to the back of the train.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lionel was looking at readings on the train's computer.
"This is odd... ChargeMan, go look at what's going on."
"I'm on it." A voice responded from the computer.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Netto was getting off a bus when he saw the train grind to a stop at a nearby railway crossing.
"Netto, the train!" Rockman was worried.
Netto ran up to the crossing.
"Plug-in, Rockman! Transmission!"
Rockman appeared in the locomotive's system.
"GravityMan and ArcticMan. I should have known the Black Matrix was behind this."
"We don't have time for you, Rockman." ArcticMan laughed. "We'll let the viruses deal with you."
ArcticMan and GravityMan left to the back of the train as Kuripon viruses rushed Rockman. The penguinesque viruses breathed out snowflakes at him, who leapt over them with ease.
"Elec Sword, slot-in!" Netto put a chip into his PET.
Rockman's arm turned into a crackling blade of electricity, and he started cutting apart the viruses one by one.
"We've got to go over GravityMan and ArcticMan!" Netto called out to Rockman.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
GravityMan and ArcticMan were at the cargo car, preparing to transport the engine.
Suddenly, a Navi appeared behind them.
The Navi had a rust red body shaped like a steam locomotive over a black body suit. His green eyes were shadowed by the brim of a conductor's cap. His rust red boots were adorned at the feet with cowcatchers, and his equally red gloves had ball joints at the knuckles.
"This is my train, and this is your stop." The Navi was very cross.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Black Matrix helicopter descended down onto the cargo car and lifted the engine.
"It's ours." Newton laughed.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rockman arrived in the cargo car's computer to see the red Navi taking on GravityMan and ArcticMan.
"Exterminate! Exterminate!" GravityMan lobbed an energy ball at the Navi.
"Rail Spike!" The Navi leapt up and threw a metal stake at GravityMan, puncturing his right shoulder.
Rockman quickly joined the battle.
"Rockbuster!" Rockman fired an energy shot at ArcticMan.
"Ice Tower!" ArcticMan shot spires of ice out of the ground, absorbing the blast.
Rockman parried the attack.
"Fire Sword, slot-in!" Netto put another chip into his PET.
Rockman's arm into a burning sword, and he swung it towards ArcticMan.
"Ice Lance!" ArcticMan countered with a sword of his own.
While Rockman and ArcticMan clashed swords, GravityMan attacked the red Navi.
"Gravity Drive!" GravityMan released an energy wave from his body, slamming his opponent into the ground.
"Charge Dash!" The Navi broke out of the hold and rushed GravityMan and ArcticMan, logging them both out with one attack.
Rockman watched in awe.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
GravityMan and ArcticMan returned to their operators' PETs as the helicopter took off with the engine.
"We failed..." Lionel looked up at the sky as he got out of the train.
"Who are you?" Netto asked.
"I'm Lionel, the conductor of this train. I sent my Navi ChargeMan in to try and protect the cargo, but we were too late..."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Black Matrix helicopter hovered above a landing pad as a ground crew wheeled away the engine.
Angel walked towards the helicopter, watching in satisfaction.
"Excellent... this will greatly aid the construction of my flying fortress..."

Well, this was a decent chapter. Not one of your best, but good nonetheless. I liked the idea of the engine, very clever. _________________ Roses are #FF0000, violets are #0000FF. All my base are belong to you.

Look, the Black Matrix doesn't fight fair. Would you expect being attacked at work?

The engine's meant to be foreshadowing for the final episodes of the Black Matrix arc. The key words are "flying fortress". |

My brother's 18th birthday was on Thursday so I was unable to finish today's chapter. It'll be available on Monday.
To compensate, here's some bonus trivia:
-The story is written in Microsoft Notepad. The bolded episode title, "END CHAPTER" line and teaser are added when I post it here.
-The Matrix Drive was created as a solution to the problem of BrightMan and GravityMan's appearances in Axess and Stream.
-Northwest Ameroppa is the equivalent of Canada.
-Each of the members of the Northwest Ameroppa team are from a different province. Manny is from Aruberuta, Blaze is from Creamland Corumbia, Sparky is from Kubekku, Azure is from New Kingland, and Reed is from Sasukatchi.
-I designed Robin before I ever knew that skydiving was a somewhat popular thing in Japan.
-Pao and FighterMan are a homage to Street Fighter. The next two episodes will be a homage to another Capcom series, but I'll let you figure out which one it is on your own.
-The Black Matrix members are from different nations. Robin, Slash, Amy, and May are from Ameroppa, Lumina is from Kingland (lived in Creamland with her mother and Count Elec's ex-wife), Dr. Newton and Dr. Rutherford are from Creamland, and Dr. Frost is from Northwest Ameroppa. Ken was born in Japan and conducted his arms trades in Darkland. Angel was born in Ameroppa, sent to school in Northwest Ameroppa, and moved to Japan.
-Azure was originally going to wear a sailor fuku and Reed was originally going to be slightly perverted. Put the two together. |

You've waited long enough, so here you go. See if you can catch the Capcom game references in here.
Chapter 24: Enzan Abducted! Desperate Search
Enzan was working late reviewing proposals for a merger with another company.
"In theory, we have the potential to make over a billion zenny from this in assets." Enzan was discussing the matter with Blues.
"You do what you think is best for the company." Blues responded.
Suddenly, there was a loud pop and a gray gas poured into the room.
Enzan covered his mouth with one hand and his eyes with the other. He started to make his way toward the door only to be blocked.
One-eyed Jack stood in the doorway, wielding a baton and wearing a gas mask.
"Hello, Enzan. My employer wants to meet you." Jack chuckled.
Enzan got into a defensive posture, but started to inhale the gas when he took his hands off his face. He started coughing and dropped to his knees.
Jack laughed and dragged Enzan away by the collar.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Enzan's father and the head of IPC, Shuuseki, was busy going through proposals when his phone rang.
"Hello. Office of Ijuuin Shuuseki."
"Mr. Ijuuin, so pleased to make your acquaintance. Don't hang up! We have a little business proposition for you. Your son for your cooperation." A deep male voice came over the phone.
"What's happened to Enzan? Who is this?" Shuuseki gasped in horror.
"Not so fast, Shuuseki. Turn on your television."
Shuuseki turned on a screen to see Enzan tied to a chair in a dimly lit room and Jack pacing in front of him.
"You... what have you done to him?"
"Nothing yet, but we'd enjoy the opportunity... Listen to reason. Why make your job difficult? Just listen to our demands..."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Netto was in the apartment above Nero's shop.
"So you live in your shop?" Netto asked.
"Yes." Nero was stepping over a pile of twenty and thirty-year-old computer parts, being careful not to step on any.
"It's a bit... disorganized." Netto was trying to be tactful as he looked out onto an unmade bed.
"I build my own computers as a hobby. Look at this one." Nero tapped a glimmering black case. "Took the processor out of a Marathon, a 500-gigabyte hard drive, tossed in an X-Force 5 video card and NoiseCrusher 64 sound card, and voila!"
"It's very interesting." Netto complimented.
Suddenly, there was a beeping from Nero's PET.
"I have a call." Nero walked out of the room onto his balcony.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jack was standing next to Enzan in an old warehouse.
"What do you want?" Enzan asked his abductor bitterly.
"It's not what I want, it's what my employer wants." Jack chuckled.
"Well, what to they want?" Enzan glared at Jack.
"They want your company's technology. You're simply leverage..."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nero came back into his apartment.
"Netto, we have a problem. Do you know a boy named Enzan?"
"Yes, he's my best friend." Netto answered. "Why. Did something happen to him? Tell me!"
Nero sat down in a chair.
"Enzan's been kidnapped."
"Enzan..." Netto gasped "I've got to help him!"
"I know, Netto. I'm getting together my team as we speak."
Lionel and Pao walked into the room.
"If I'm going to work with you, Netto... I'm not going to hide this." Nero explained.
"We're Net Vigilantes too." Pao finished his sentence.
"Come on, we've got a job to do!" Nero led his team downstairs, and Netto quickly followed.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Netto and the Net Vigilantes were running down the street.
"Look for an abandoned factory or warehouse. That's our best bet." Nero explained.
"All right." Netto nodded as he ran alongside him.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jack stood on a rooftoop watching Netto's progress.
"Don't let them get close, CrashMan..." he ordered.
"I've already got it dealt with." CrashMan laughed from the PET.
"Good, good."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Netto, Nero, Pao, and Lionel entered a dark, abandoned factory, stepping onto an elevator.
As the elevator went up, it pulled a wire, and a knife fell from the ceiling, narrowly missing everybody.
"What was that?" Netto gulped.
Pao picked up the knife from the ground and looked at it.
"Hmm... looks like the elevator was booby-trapped. Keep an eye out. We don't know what's here."
Nero led his team off the platform, careful not to hit any tripwires that might be there.
"Come on, Netto. This spot's safe."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CrashMan was using the security camera network to watch over Netto and the Net Vigilantes.
"Just... a little... closer..." he snickered.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nero was leading the way through the factory when he tripped over a metal cable.
"Who would leave this here?" he asked. He then saw the glint in a hole in the wall.
As Nero got down, there was a loud snap and an arrow came through the wall. He looked up and saw a crossbow mounted in the wall.
"I don't care what anyone says, we're going to have to take a different approach in here..." Nero walked to a security terminal on the wall. "Plug-in, CyberMan! Transmission!"
"Plug-in, FighterMan! Transmission!"
"Plug-in, ChargeMan! Transmission!"
"Plug-in, Rockman! Transmission!"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rockman and the others arrived in the factory's computer network. Metal railings divided the level they were on from a pool of molten liquid.
Rockman approached the security monitors.
"Netto-kun! We can use the cameras to find Enzan!" Rockman told his operator as he approached the banks of screens.
Suddenly, a bomb came down and exploded on the monitor, destroying it.
"No!" CyberMan was shocked.
CrashMan was standing on the railing cackling, his launcher out.
"You're too late, Rockman! We've already moved the prisoner to another location!" CrashMan laughed.
"Why you..." Netto clenched his fist.
"Now it's time for you to go!" CrashMan yelled as he leapt up off the railing. "Crash Spike!"
Rockman leapt back to avoid being impaled by the point on CrashMan's launcher.
"Arm Change, Cannon!" CyberMan's arm morphed into a cannon and he started opening fire on CrashMan.
"Crash Shield!" CrashMan unfolded his launcher into a shield and blocked the blast, then hit CyberMan with an uppercut over the railing, forcing him to be plugged out before he landed in the red-hot pool below.
"Charge Dash!" ChargeMan rushed CrashMan at full speed.
"Crash Bomber!" CrashMan threw a bomb on the ground, catching ChargeMan in the explosion. Rockman and FighterMan were the only Navis left standing at this point.
"Now for you two. Crash Bomber!" CrashMan opened his launcher and fired a flurry of explosives at the enemy, engulfing Rockman and FighterMan in a column of flame.
When the smoke cleared, CrashMan cracked a gleeful smile at his handiwork. However, as more smoke cleared, he realized he had been premature in his analysis of the situation.
Rockman stood in front of FighterMan. He was now in a red gi with a black belt and boots, a white headband and white gloves. His helmet was completely absent and his hair was blowing to one side.
"You're supposed to be deleted... right? Right?" CrashMan was baffled. "Just to make sure..."
CrashMan flung another bomb at Rockman, who kicked it away.
"Have you learned nothing, CrashMan?" FighterMan started a small lecture. "You tried to overwhelm your opponent with massive power, but without technique, it failed..."
"Technique? I'll show you technique! Crash Spike!" CrashMan rushed Rockman, who parried the attack and got behind him, grabbing him. He threw CrashMan into the air.
"You won't take me alive, punk!" CrashMan shot out several bombs into the air with him, that landed at his feet and shoulders when he hit the ground. He disappeared in a fiery explosion.
"You don't think..." Netto was shocked that CrashMan had apparently destroyed himself.
"Backups, Netto, backups." Nero was looking at the situation on a terminal. "Well, it looks like Enzan's not here anymore, so we're back to square one."
"Enzan..." Netto was worried.
"Don't worry, we'll find him." Pao tried to reassure Netto.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Enzan was now tied up in the closet of an office that the Black Matrix was using as a front.
"Don't even bother trying to escape, Enzan." Amy was standing on one side of the door. "We're not going anywhere."
"And don't expect anyone to find you here, either." May was standing on the other side. "For all they know, you're still at that factory."
"Did you really think this plan out?" Enzan snapped back. "My father cares more about his company than me and he won't give in to your demands."
"This kidnapping - simply a diversion." Amy told him.
"Right now we're in the IPC system..." May continued.

Great chapter, worked out better then I thought.
However, you should follow up on the foreshadow you started about ten chapters ago, the one where Lady Black learns that Netto and Rockman are linked.
Keep it up :D _________________ Roses are #FF0000, violets are #0000FF. All my base are belong to you.
